It is becoming clear that I must rethink the clarity of the rule on product placement in the NHRPG. I can no longer say "product placement" as a general term because, well, it is far too general...and it does not cover enough ground. With that said, I cam going to create new categories for what we see in our every day modern lives. The new categories, and the examples listed as indented bullets, are as follows:
If the item is listed in RED, then it will not, and never be allowed to appear in the NHRPG...EVER. No exceptions
If the item is listed in GREEN, then it will be allowed to exist in this "universe"- *Video Games
- Game consoles such as Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii
- Video games
- Cell phone games
- Internet based flash games
- Movies and Television Shows
- DVDs
- Blu Ray
- Movie Titles
- Named Television shows
- Box Sets
- Netflix or other VOD service
- Modern Music
- Stuff we listen to on the radio
- Proper Nouns like Lady Gaga or ACDC
- Bands or groups of artists
- Modern and Classical Music
- The Works of Beethoven, Mozart, etc
- The real stuff that has already endured for centuries
- Works of Art
- The Mona Lisa
- Michelangelo's David
- Other famous works such as paintings, sculptures, or historic documents
- Educational Literature
- Accredited sources of information, such as "Greys Anatomy"
- Scholarly material such as published research material and doctoral thesis papers
- Religious texts
- Non-Educational Literature
- Books by fiction or non fiction writers (Twilight, Hunger Games, or any other non-accredited or non-scholarly written work).
- Gossip magazines (Star, People)
- Sports
- Hockey
- Baseball
- Football
- Soccer
- Any other human sport
- Historic Artifacts
- Antique items
- Rare collectors items that have nothing to do with disallowed items. This means vintage hockey jerseys are allowed, but a limited edition box set of Lost is not.
- Things typically found in a museum
- **Religion and/or Secularism
- Christianity
- Islam
- Hinduism
- Agnosticism
- Atheism
- Buddhism
- Other denominations that I have failed to mention
- 21st Century Technology
- iPhones
- Androids
- Windows
- Mac OSX
- Any other named piece of technology.
- ***The Internet (as we know it)
- Brand Names (Asus, Acer, Toshiba)
- No modern day guns
- Celebrities
- Famous people (Bill gates, Steve Jobs, movie actors, TV hosts, etc)
- Fictional TV characters that do not exist in the Halo lore.
- Modern Products
- No modern brand names (Nike, Adidas, Swiffer)
- No named manufacturers
- No toy companies
Now, for a few notes at the end.
*Especially no Xbox 360. This goes double time. I will not have the game console which essentially encompass this universe, be accessible
**No hating on other religions, or lack of religions. This is the year 2555, I am sure we have moved past this sort of pettiness.
***The Internet in the Halo Universe is called The ChatterNet
