The Mgalekgolo - AKA: Hunters
Hunters are a unique gestalt of smaller creatures known as Lekgolo, which are tiny, orange, worm-like creatures that group together to exponentially increase their intelligence, strength, and maneuverability. During and after the Great Schism there was a division within the species, some aligning with the Brutes and others remaining with the Elites. Due to massive losses on the side of the Brutes at the end of the Human-Covenant War, the only remaining hunters now serve the Elites. Hunters always come in pairs or "bond brothers." The death of one will enrage the other if it witnesses the other's death.

Early History
Little is known about the early history of the Hunter. From what ONI gathered from the Elites during our brief alliance, was that the Hunters were first discovered on a planet that was targeted for mineral and resource extraction. This led to an event that was to be named the "Taming of the Hunters" by the Covenant. The Hunters proved to outmatch the Elites in ground combat, even killing an Arbiter in the process. However, the Hunters soon saw defeat at the hands of the Elites, due to the fact the Hunters had no defense against orbital strikes. The Hunters surrendered and allowed themselves to be assimilated into the Covenant.
Human-Covenant War
Hunters were always observed as working in pairs. This had something to do with one Hunter colony splitting when it got too large. The creation of a second Hunter created a rather mysterious connection between the two Hunters known as being "bond brothers". This bond was usually for life, and in the event on of the "bond brothers" or "mates" were killed, the other would beserk, and even develop a split-personality. There have been times, when it has been observed, that a Hunter could outrank an Elite, however, this was an isolated incident, and the Elite did meet the armor configuration of a minor.
Post Covenant Status
The political motivations of Hunters are very mysterious, and truely unknown. It is surmised that, although being part of the Covenant, The Hunters, at least not all of them, did not fully adhear to the static religion and hierarchy of the Covenant. While some remained loyal to the Covenant, some of them did join the Elites. However, due to the defeat of the Brutes during the Schism, many Hunters that remained loyal to the Brutes died. After the end of the Human-Covenant war, The Elites took advantage of the situation and fully adopted the hunters back into their ranks, precluding the brutes from ever utilizing Hunters in their armed forces.
Biology / Geneology
Hunters are composed of multiple wormlike creatures that bond together to exponentially increase their strength and intelligence. The wormlike creatures reproduce asexually, and simply split when there are too many of them. The Hunters seem to have no gender-based distinctions due to their asexual reproduction.
Physical Appearence
Hunters are very large and physically imposing on the battle field. They can grow indefinatly, but choose to split to form another Hunter colony when they reach a height of around 13 feet. They are heavily armored and their only weak points are the exposed sections of the armor that reveal the actual wormlike colony.
Personality / Behaviour
Hunters do not often demonstrate any sort of emotion, short of what is seen when a "bond brother" is killed. They seem to care very little about collateral damage of allied casualties of other races. "Bond brothers" always stay together. Where there is one Hunter, there is always a second. They seem to fight as a single unit, knowing exactly when to shoot, and when to protect the other. THis could imply a very deep connection between bonded Hunters.
Director Vernette's Personal Notes
When I tell someone that a Hunter is nothing more then a bunch of worms hiding under a shell of armor, they laugh. When they see the dead remains of a Hunter, and see it is nothing but worms, I laugh. Hunters are very big, very strong, and very dangerous. They are bigger then Brutes, and stronger as well. They are armed with these nasty plasma cannons and they seem to fire them off with little reguard for any collateral damage they may cause.
They seem to understand english, and other languages very well. However, they seem to be unable to speak english, but can imitate it by making a musical-like composition of sounds to immitate english words, They seem to very good linguists in this sense. This leads me to believe Hunters are very intelligent. I have to pity hunters to be honest. They grow and grow and then reproduce asexualy. They just seem to split in half and then keep growing and growing. Where is the fun in that? Not even the chance to enjoy procreation...unless all those worms...all at once...nevermind. I am terminating this line of discussion.
