Well folks this movie is a force to be messed with. It is one of the most dramatic film of 2007. As a post apocalyptic movie it sure is very dramatic. A lonely man with his faithful companion Sam. Trying to survive the days as vampiric creatures (hunger for human flesh) are looking for him.
special effects: Now this movie actually has a lot of special effects. The fact that they made New York so empty is truly amazing. The vampiric vampires look so realistic that you would actually think they existed (not like the avatar blue people).
Drama: I don't know about you but this movie actually made me cry in some parts. The part that hit me the most was when sam got bit and started mutating. After that Robert took sam to his house and injected her with a serum that he made, hoping it would cure her, after she starts getting violent Robert strangles her and kills her. Another sad moment is when Robert is outraged by the death of sam that he goes on a rampage hoping to kill as many vampiric monsters as he can. If I go more into details I would give away the ending and more of the movie to you.
Acting: I don't know about this but Will Smith is very convincing in this movie. I mean if a man can make another man cry by sheer acting I think that it is very good acting. The Vampiric creatures were pretty convincing but had a little human trait that made it seem less of a virus but more of a natural born creature thing since they did have intelligence.
Book similarity: Okay in no way (except for some similarity with the plot) were the two the same. The vampires in the book were real vampires and the vampires in the movie weren't actual vampires. They both did have a dog but in the book Robert did not know the dog very well and died when it went inside Roberts house
As of now my vote is a 9.9/10 and it is only missing a .1 because it needed more of a backstory of how it happened and it needed to be a little longer.
This reminds me of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon. At the end of the main story, the player has to leave his partner, the two having grow to be very close friends.
