Mass Effect 3 Ending (spoilers)

So, if you've been paying any attention to the gaming community, I'm sure most of you have heard of the uproar caused by the Mass Effect 3 ending. After 6 long years, the trilogy has finally come to an end, and I guess most fans, such as myself, wanted more closure than what was provided. Surprisingly, Bioware has listened to and complied, to come up with a response to the fan-base demands. A free DLC will be released this summer, not to add different options, but to explain more and to provide more closure. This seems fair as that's what most of the fans demanded. However, I have spent the past two days scanning youtube videos and reading forums in order to understand why Bioware placed what they did in the game. The Mass Effect series has been a a favorite of mine and still is to this day. I love the lore and the game itself. Now, I had an understanding of the ending that happened for me, and the one I chose when I played it. After looking online, I came across a fan theory that has helped explain what Bioware placed in there. It is called the "Indoctrination Theory" and I found this very detailed YouTube video that explains what the theory is for the most part. It makes sense to me and even if a stretch, it is very plausible and interesting. I am interested to see if Bioware admits the theory as canon or they will provide different explanations for the ending. Whats your take on it all? Well, The indoc theory still has lots of holes in it. Like...if your EMS is under 3000...You only get the destroy option, and no control or synthesis. which makes the whole "fight in Shepard's mind" thing void. Don't get me wrong though. it still makes more sense than....well, what we got. Bioware screwed the ending up in the worst possible way. The ending makes me sick to my stomach. after all this uproar, Bioware just settles for an "epilogue" dlc that fixes only ONE of the many problems the ending had. even if the indoc theory is canon, it still breaks one, of two big rules of story endings. 1. The ending can't have a deus ex machina, unless it's been foreshadowed. 2. It can't have been a dream Honestly, I'm done with Mass Effect, I thought I could get past the ending, but no, it's just ruined the entire series for me. The fact that the reapers were created by this...kid, lowers my opinion of them so much, that I can't even take Sovereign or Harbinger seriously anymore. Once this...emotionless colossus capable of destroying civilizations... Now some toy built by a kid That's when you know an ending fails. when it makes this guy... What do you mean if your EMS was under 3000, you could only choose to destroy? So when you talked to the kid/VI/reapers/catalyst it only gave you an option to destroy the reapers?

I dunno...I never understood the EMS part of the game. All I know is that I got the green bar fill to the top...

if your effective military strength is under 3000, or 2000 I think. the kid only gives you the option to destroy the reapers. He doesn't give you the option to control, or join.

I've actually read up alot about this, since the ending just made me mad cause it was like "lol story over". Here's something that really pissed me off, if you have max military strength and choose to destroy the reapers you see a scene in which you see sheppard still breathing. This is utter bullshit since it wouldn't end sheppard'a story at all and this is supposed to be the "true" ending according to some people. So yeah bioware fucked up good on this one. No clue how one DLC could ever fix all the harm done (lol hi btw first post in a long time)

Yeah, "extending" the ending will do jack shit. It's still filled with multiple plot holes, and still makes no sense. Oh yeah, and it still ruins the entire series. So there's that. Also, it's good to see you too Marnix.
