from a feminist point of view..

okay so i have ethnic studies. a class where you study culture, and gender differences and gay folks and all that good stuff.. right now we are in the feminist section.. and its incredible how woman are treated.. now guys i have a question to ask you. and please be mature and be honest would you let a girl try out for the boys football team if you were a coach? if so why?

football team? for a guy's team? well. i guess it depends on law if i am required. if i am, obviously i have to. If she is doing it for the fuck of it just because then i guess i would support her. If she had potential to be good, and it was a dream, i would be right behind her and make sure all of the footballers respect her the same way as any other player. if i see that maybe she wast physically built of aggressive enough, i would suggest to her maybe another sport, as i would not wanting her to get hurt. i can see this happening more with lacrosse, soccer, or any other sport. football is very hands on, and may be a problem such as sexual harassment. as far as the idea goes, i would be open and willing to allow differences and un-ordinary things (according to society, such as a female footballer). my younger cousin is 10 and she plays a grade up on an all boys soccer team. she is one of the team's best shot, and is respected by any of the boys.

then why are guys so sexist? i mean they have the spotlight every time.. and if the guys had menstrual period im sure PRETTY sure that everybody will respect it.. but then girls have to keep their mouths shut? not very fair...

No The reason is simple. Her safety. From various standpoints: 1. She is a lone girl on a team of guys with raging hormones. All it takes is one bad apple and you are dealing with a sexual assault. 2. Girls are smaller than guys. It is a medical fact that they have less muscle density, and their bones are softer and they can be broken more easily. Men are more durable due to testosterone. A girl is not physically capable of playing full contact sports with males without the increased risk of injury. 3. Her presence on the team would require greater administrative accommodations. This is a drain on financial resources. She would need separate showers, separate locker rooms, etc.

actually jon raises a fair point.

jon if shes good and even better than a guy why not let her try out? why do ppl let a guy tryy out for a varsity girls vvolleyball but a girl cant? unfair.. and if the girl is there she will show that girls can show determination and passion just like any guy

but erica you cant argue my or jon's point about sexual harassment..... put a bunch of meatheads together in one room with one girl, someone will do something... not that i agree 100% with jon's #2 and #3, but they are also valid points
