Mass Effect RPG - Part 1

Vyus felt the flagship shake and alarms going off. Vyus: "Give me a status report!" Eclipse Officer: "The Human dreadnought is firing at us! We're taking heavy fire and our kinetic barriers are failing! We need to use the relay and get out of here!" Vyus pondered for a moment and agreed in haste. He then stepped up to the holomap and relayed orders to the Eclipse fleet. Vyus: "Second Flag Officer Vyus to the fleet, all ships break off and head for the relay. Set target for the Hercules System!" The Eclipse fleet began to disengage the Quarians, the Collector ships still providing cover, shredding more ships apart. Aboard the Talonata, Spectral had been fed the orders from his shuttle pilot. In hand, Spectral had Salvation's data buoy in arm, his SMG in the opposite hand. Spectral felt his cold blood boil as he led his commando squad towards the hangar's main doors. Two of his engineers had already began to work on opening the door, slicing into the locked out keypad. Spectral had moved his squad into cover and out of sight of the doors. When the engineers finished hacking, the doors slid open and two squads of Quarians, about 20 in total, flooded through the small gap in the door. Spectral poked his head out and deployed his turret and drones, his squad already unleashing on the Quarian soldiers. Within minutes the Eclipse casualties were minimal with maximum lethality towards the Quarians. Spectral, with the Reaper device in arm, and his commando squad pressed forward through the ship, occasionally being stopped by more Quarian squads, always emerging victorious and continuing towards the bridge. When the Eclipse squad arrived, the doors slid open and the Eclipse squad stormed in, killing everyone in sight except for Admiral Zea. Spectral handed the Reaper device to one of his squad's engineers and pointed his SMG at the Admiral. Spectral: "Get the device hooked up to the ship's mainframe. The commanding officer and I are going to have a talk." Zea stood up and Spectral motioned for the Quarian to step away from any console or buttons. Spectral: "I know how resourceful and subtle you Quarians are. Now, answer my questions and no one else on your ship gets hurt." The previous engineer that wasn't helping with hooking Salvation up had already began a lockdown on the Talonata. Spectral: "Identify yourself, Quarian." Zea: "I am acting Admiral Zea of the Quarian Heavy Fleet. We are now considered a rogue Quarian organization that is bent on stopping you and your crimes against our people." Spectral's gun never waivered from Zea's head. Spectral: "It's funny that you say you're going to stop me, but look at me. Myself and a handful of pirate mercenaries took down the pride of the Heavy Fleet. The military flagship of the Quarians. Single-handedly. Really, your... cult, is finished." Zea: "You can't stop us. You may defeat us, but this 'cult' as you call it is an idea, and ideas are not easily defeated. When word returns to the Migrant Fleet of this crime, you will be branded as not only a criminal, but the Galaxy's Most Wanted." Spectral: "Look at me, Admiral, I'm the leader of the Eclipse Gang; I nearly destroyed Omega; I've recruited the aid of the Collector's; I've murdered dozens of Quarians; commandeered a Quarian dreadnought; I've attacked Humans and Cerberus both; I am the most wanted criminal in the Galaxy. You, well, unless you help me, you're dead." Zea: "I would rather die than help you." Spectral: "I don't think you truly want that. You see, I would prefer you alive at all costs. My... boss wants to meet you." Spectral turned and the Eclipse engineer had just finished hooking up the Reaper device. The lights on the ship dimmed to a crimson red, darkening many of the rooms and corridors of the dreadnought. The holomap on the dreadnought switched to the image of Salvation. Zea looked horrified at the image. Although foreign, he could immediately feel the indoctrination occurring in his mind, though the Admiral was resisting it as hard as he could. Salvation continued to force the indoctrination to the point that Zea's mind began to hurt and he blacked out. Spectral kept his SMG pointed at the Zea in case he was faking it. Spectral: "Restrain him. We'll take him to Eletania with us. Everyone take your stations and give me a sitrep." Spectral watched as he could see the Eclipse fleet was gone and the Heavy Fleet and Human ships were still combating the Collector ships, oblivious to the fact the Talonata was captured. Eclipse Commando: "Should we open fire?" Spectral: "No. Get us out of here. Order the Collectors to break off and jump us to Eletania." Commando: "Yes Sir." The Collector ships began to break off and moved as fast as they could towards the Omega-4 relay, one of the ships being blasted and destroyed. The Talonata, however, broke off and used the relay, jumping to the Hercules system and losing the Heavy Fleet.

[Naked Crook]

Greyson watched as the commandeered Quarian controlled Turian Carrier vessel fled through the mass relay, and the Collector ships began to fall back and flee through the Omega-4 Relay. Greyson: Damn it! Signal the that Turran Carrier! Ask the Quarians where the hell they are going!? The Cerberus Comm officer tried to do as he was asked, but he simply shook his head. Comm Officer: Sir...I am getting nothing from that ship. The comms are totally silent. Greyson frowned. Comm Officer: I think I have an explanation for that sir. According to some comm chatter between the Quarians...rather...what is left of the Quarians...it appears that their Flagship, that Turian Carrier, otherwise known as "The Talonata", appears to have been commandeered by Eclipse forces. Gates scoffed. He was not pleased by this revelation. Greyson: What is left out there? Are there any Quarian ships still active? The Sensor Officer spoke up. Sensor Officer: Well...the Alliance Ship is still active. There are a few damaged Eclipse Frigates that are adrift. Most of the Quarian ships have been disabled. The Collectors seems to be falling back to the Omega-4 Relay, which is lucky for us, cause they could have easily turned us to scrap metal. Aside from a few other pirate ships flying around Omega, we are currently the heaviest classification that is still active. Greyson scoffed. Greyson: Can we get a destination solution on The Talonata? Sensor Officer: Sorry sir, we got mixed readings when that ship escaped. Between the damage to our sensors, the readings from the Omega-4 and the very real chance that The Talonata is going to make multiple jumps, I cannot get a viable destination. Greyson sighed. Greyson: Turn us around, and bring us back to Omega. Contact the Captain and request his status.

[Kairu]

Location: Attican Beta - Hercules System - in orbit over Eletania The Eclipse fleet had regrouped. Along the way, Spectral ordered the fleet to barricade the relay and wait several minutes to see if anyone would follow. The chances of that was unlikely due to the several jumps that they had to make to get here, but Spectral was smart enough to know that anything was possible in the universe. After the several agonizing, quiet minutes, Spectral ordered his fleet to Eletania to begin base setup.

Back at Omega: The Damocles had reversed its course and had headed back towards Omega. Greyson: Can we get a clear signal open to the Captain? Comm Officer: Working on it...stand by... Meanwhile: In the depths of Omega, Alex had finished mopping up the last of the Eclipse Mercs that had apparently been left behind to cover the escape of the Fugitive Salarian. Alex stood up from cover, as he looked around. The area was once again secure. Alex: Navere...you still alive out there? About 20 feet away, Navere stood up, as her biotic glow dissipated. Navere: Yeah...still alive. Alex continued to look around. He caught his sight on the Justicar, and saw that she was fine. Alex then turned and looked at Uli, who was sitting on the ground next to the terminal he was working at. Alex walked over to Uli and knelt down next to him. He could see that Uli's suit had been rupture and that he had been wounded. Alex: Hey...Quarian...you still alive? Speak up! As Alex asked this, his Omni Tool lit up as he began to recieve a transmission from his first Officer on the Damocles. Greyson: Operative Underhill...do you copy? Come on sir...pick up the line... Alex looked at his Omni Tool and answered it. Alex: Stand by Greyson...give me a moment. Alex then looked back at Uli. Alex: The rupture looks pretty serious. Can you walk? Can you get up?

[Kairu]

Uli wasn't feeling too good. He could feel the wound worsening, but he wasn't going to let it show. Fortunately for him, his helmet helped keep the facade. Uli: "I'll be fine. I just need to get back to my ship." Uli activated his omni-tool and attempted to communicate with Admiral Zea. Uli tried several more times, letting the omni-tool do its job but with no success. He then altered the frequency to include any Quarian ship. The Justicar looked at Uli struggling to keep things together and blunder in his task. She helped Uli out by coming under the shoulder on his wounded side. Uli could feel the pain as she helped out. Faria then decided to ask her question. Faria: "What is wrong?" Uli: "My ship... it's no longer there. Something must've happened. We need to get back to the fleet."

[Naked Crook]

Alex got up and stepped back as Faria helped Uli back to his feet. As Uli answered Faria's question, Greyson spoke up over the comm. Greyson: Sir...I do not mean to evesdrop...but the Quarian has not even scratched the surface with that assessment. Greyson voice paused over the comm as Alex lifted his hand up, and held his Omni tool in front of him. Greyson: Most of the Quarian ships out there were disabled, damaged, or destroyed during the attack. A few of them are still active, and some are in need of repair...but the losses were pretty nasty. It is a graveyard out there. Pretty sure the junkers will be swarming the debris field before the day is out. With that said, based on some of the comm echoes we intercepted, we believe a Quarian vessel known as "The Talonata" was commandeered by The Eclipse during the battle. We have been unable to confirm...but we did watch the ship flee into the mass relay. Greyson paused. Greyson: Frankly...it is a mess out there. Alex then looked at Uli. Alex: Was "The Talonata" your ship?

[Kairu]

Uli: "Bosh'tet! If they have the Talonata, then we may very well have sentenced the death of the Quarians! We need to pursue them!" Uli was getting so worked up that he could feel his wound worsening from the stress and strain he was putting on it. Faria felt Uli collapse a bit. Faria: "I don't think you should try to worry so much right now. You need medical help right now."

[Naked Crook]

Alex: We need to pursue The Talonata because the Salarian is on that ship, and because he escape with something that he is not supposed to have. Alex paused. Alex: if the entire Quarian migrant fleet is helpless against ONE stolen ship...then the Quarians have bigger issues that seriously need to be addressed. However, that is beside the point. Alex looked at his Omni Tool, as he began to transmit his coordinates to The Damocles. Alex: Greyson...I am sending you my coordinates. We are near a hanger bay. Dispatch a shuttle immediatly and get us the hell off this armpit space station. Greyson: Copy that sir...a shuttle is en-toute. Stand by for evac. Greyson out. The comm line closed, and Alex disabled his Omni Tool. He then looked at the Justicar. Alex: Justicar...you are free to tag along, or bail. I do not care which you decide to do. If you want to tag along, make your decision now. I plan on going after the Salarian tooth and nail. If you do decide to tag along, know that I care very little for your objections to the methods that I am going to use to find and kill the Salarian, and anyone else who helps him. Alex paused. Alex: The same goes for you Quarian. Alex paused again. Alex; So what is it going to be?

[Kairu]

Faria knew her answer without hesitation. Faria: "While your organization's methods are questionably immoral, they are effective. This Salarian caused an upstart on Omega and his responsible for the numerous lives on the station to personal gain. I will join along." Uli was still very hesitant with joining Cerberus. He knew that, at this current moment, he would need their help finding the Talonata and recapturing her, but he also felt his call of duty to his people. He also felt that Cerberus would be more than willing to leave him to his slow and agonizing death if he decided not to join along. After the moments of hesitation he had his answer. Uli: "I don't have another option but to join along."

[Naked Crook]

Alex look at Faria and Uli and gave a nod. Alex: Good. As long as we don't debate my "questionably moral" methods...we will be able to put an end to this quickly enough. Once we deal with the Salarian, and we get your ship back...we can part ways. Alex paused as Navere spoke up. Navere: If we can get Uli back to your ship...I can give a few pointers on how to patch up his wounds. We are both Dextros...so I know what will and will not kill him. Unless, of course, there is still a Quarian ship out there, in which case they would be far more qualified than any of us to help him. Alex nodded. Alex" Let's get him back to The Damocles first and foremost. We can figure out what to do from there. Alex paused. He turned, as he began to pace. Navere, on the other hand, looked at Uli. Navere: So, Uli, why is The Talonata such a big deal? You implied that The Quarians could all be killed as a result. Why is that?
