Black 1 watched his sensors as he saw the four transport ships reach escape velocity. Once all 4 transport ships had reached orbit, Black 1 nodded.
Black 1: Alright Black Team...mission accomplished. Those transports are in orbit, behind the UNSC line, and they are en-route to their designated jump point.
Black 2: It seems the UNSC is none the wiser. Personally, I am shocked that the UNSC did not try to interfere with us. We were basically unmarked and totally unresponsive to their communications.
Black 1:Who cares. Their inability to act against us just made our job easier.
Black 1 paused.
Black 1: Alright Black Team...let's adjust our heading, and head for the Apex Applied Research building and touch base with Hoffman.
Black 1 adjusted his heading, turning a whole 150 degrees to the south, as he hit the throttle on his Sabre. Black 2, Black 3, and Black 4 did the same, as they kept in perfect formation.
Black 4: Try and keep up Jacob. We don't need someone lagging us up.
Meanwhile:
Nighthawk and Anaconda had left The King Raven. However, during that time, Jennifer had summoned her senior staff back to the bridge. It was not long before Burke, Cameron and Tye had all made their way to the bridge.
Burke: Jennifer? What is the situation?
Jennifer: Well...the situation is quite complex...to be quite honest.
Burke: Isn't is always?
Jennifer: Yes, well, it is far more complex now.
Tyber: How so?
Jennifer: I spoke with Nighthawk a bit. We also spoke with Harrison.
Cameron: Not a good start.
Jennifer: Well...it did not go well. Harrison and Nighthawk exchanged some choice words...none of it friendly. Harrison, based on what I could gather from his stance, was very antagonistic towards Nighthawk and Anaconda. I doubt he is going to put up with them much longer. Personally, I see the need to keep them around. I don't know how the rest of you feel about having those two hang around...but...I feel that they are useful. They know their shit, and they are informed on a great many things.
Jennifer paused.
Jennifer: The way I see it, Harrison is not ONI. Harrison is not used to the way WE operate. Hell, Harrison does not even know we are ONI Agents. I think he is getting annoyed with his inability to consolidate the chain of command, and he is starting to get quite aggressive. That is the way I see it.
Jennifer paused.
Jennifer: However...Nighthawk thinks Harrison is part of The Trust. Nighthawk thinks this because he sees how much Harrison dislikes him. Nighthawk is drawing comparisons to Jacob's hatred and Jacob's treachery.
Tyber: Well...there was already one traitor on that ship. Based on my experience with The Trust...they tend to travel in packs. If Jacob was part of The Trust...he may have had someone local that he was reporting to. All I have is...well...anecdotal evidence to support that theory...but...I am a pretty reliable source.
Cameron: If Harrison is working with The Trust...then he should be removed from command.
Burke: We do not know for sure if Harrison is working for The Trust. If we remove him from command, and he is, in fact, NOT part of The Trust...that is called a mutiny.
Cameron: Doctor...we are ONI. Not just ONI...we are ONI Section 0. Internal affairs is our business.
Tyber: Cam is right. It is a dirty part of the job...but sometimes...we have to remove people.
Jennifer: I want to be sure about everything before I make THAT call. If this was anything else...I would act. However, we are talking about removing a senior member of the UNSC brass from command with very shaky evidence. We would have no leg to stand on if we made this mistake. Section 0 would only sweep this away if we had hard evidence to back this up. Unfortunatly...we only have speculation. If we REALLY wanted to remove Harrison...we really only have one option.
Tye, Burke, Cam, and Jennifer all exchanged an uneasy look.
Tyber: You cannot be serious Jennifer. Asking them?
Tye paused.
Tyber: I will admit...my perspective towards those two is a little more tolerant now. However, I would feel very uncomfortable asking them to assassinate Harrison.
Burke: Nobody said Assassinate.
Tyber: It is Nighthawk and Anaconda. If they see him as a member of The Trust...everything would say assassinate to them.
Cameron: Tye is right. We cannot resort to that...yet. We need to be in a very specific position to do this.
Jennifer leaned on the holotable, and hung her head. She let out a sigh.
Jennifer: This is so fucked up.
Burke: Look, Jennifer, we have two battles on our hands. We have The Trust and The Covenant. The Trust are after something unseen...and The Covenant want us dead. We have to respond to both. We need to act against The Trust and we need to act against The Covenant.
Burke paused.
Burke: What is the current situation in New Havana?
Jennifer: Evac transports were rescued by a group of unmarked Sabres that did not respond to any type of communication.
Tyber: Sabres? Let's see them...quickly.
Jennifer turned to the sensor officer on the bridge.
Jennifer: Ensign...key in on UNSC ground forces, and see if you can get positioning on those Sabres that were buzzing around earlier.
Sensor Officer: Stand by ma'am.
Jennifer turned back to the holotable, as she watched the map shift, and lock onto the five Sabres, which were flying in formation.
Burke: Sabres. The Sabre program is highly classified. The most senior brass, and ONI Flag Officers were briefed on its existance. Is it ONI?
Jennifer: Had ONI of sent those out...we would have heard about it. Either that is The Trust...or those ONI spooks are being VERY silent.
Tye leaned on the table. A frown shot across his face.
Tyber: Those Sabres are moving in the diamond formation. That is ODST Black Team. The diamond formation was THE formation of ODST Black Team. It is a very difficult formation to pull off, mainly because of how close the ships would fly...but it is also the optimal attack position. It basically allows the ships to show up only as a single bogey on sensors if detected, but it also has the advantage of quickly separating into four directions to easily scatter.
Tye paused.
Tyber: The fly THAT formation due to the fact that they are four. However, back when there was six, they used to fly the enhanced diamon formation, which was basically the same thing, except for the fact that you would have an additional fight to to the back left and back right as supplements. That formation tends to be the MOST versatile, and the MOST difficult to fly.
Burke: What about the fifth Sabre that is trailing the other four?
Tyber: Honestly...I have no clue. Possibly a missing man formation.
Jennifer: Clarify?
Tyber: Missing man formation is, well, an extra ship that cannot fly with a group and keep a balanced formation. In other words, that is just an extra Sabre that is tagging along. I am not sure who number 5 is...but the four other Sabres are DEFIANTLY Black Team.
Cameron: Where are those Sabres heading? They are moving away from The Spaceport.
Burke: Not sure. However...their current path puts them on a DIRECT course for that Skyscraper.
Tyber: Which building is that?
Jennifer used her hand to zoom in on the building.
Jennifer: Apex Applied Research?
Jennifer look at Tye, Burke, and Cam. She had a confused look on her face.
Jennifer: Let's recap; We have five unknown Sabres. Nighthawk said they were The Trust. Tye is CERTAIN that those Sabres are being piloted by ODST Black Team...and they are heading to a building called the APEX applied research building?
Everyone was silent for a moment, as they were all thinking the same thing. All three men spoke at the same time.
Cameron: Shoot them down.
Tyber: Shoot them down.
Burke: Shoot them down.
Jennifer grinned, as she turned back to the front of the bridge.
Jennifer: Comms...get me Harrison...now.
