[Hells Sniper]

Jacob thought for a moment. He too, agreed with Black 1 on the idea of his duty. Jacob was a soldier, and he would lay down his life for humanity, ten thousand times over. He agreed with Black 1 on that. And he could see what he meant by power as a means for this victory. And if the Trust was close, if they had gained the upper hand in some way, he wanted to know. He had to play his cards carefully. Jacob: I can tell you this much Black 1, if victory of this war meant laying down my life. I would gladly do it. Jacob paused. Jacob: We are both soldiers, we would both do that, and I think many others would too. Jacob paused again. Jacob: Victory is worth everything as long as humanity can still survive once it is ensured. Meanwhile: Harrison turned away from the screen and faced his holotable, he took a sip of his coffee. Harrison: Alright ladies and gentlemen, let's get the ball rolling on securing New Havanna. All stations to full alert. Harrison placed his hands down on the table and brought up an imaging of New Havanna. The spaceport was smack in the middle. Harrison: I want the 34th Heavy ODST platoon set on securing the spaceport. Get all available teams from Carver headed there now. Get me medical teams stationed at all entrances and exits, I want civilians loaded as fast as possible. Harrison paused. Harrison: Pull the 301st from reserves and get them to the Southern end of the city, that's the main highway. I want it blockaded and ready to blow in case any Covenant vehicles try to get in. Meanwhile: Lyle nodded at Novak, as the rest of the team stayed silent. Lyle: That's correct, Doc. Looks like our friend retrofitted a cyclops for...well, something other than heavy lifting. Lyle paused and removed his helmet, placing it on the table. The helmet had a large dent in it. Lyle shrugged and threw his hands in the air. The rest of the team's armor was also visibly damaged or burned. Lyle: It did a number on us to say the least.

[Naked Crook]

(Time to resume San Angeles. I suggest reading Tye's STB to get some context) The Vulture carrying Nighthawk and Anaconda approached The King Raven. Nighthawk was in the pilot's seat, and Anaconda stood behind him, leaning on the headrest. Anaconda: So...what do you think is going to happen? Why is your brother being so secretive? Nighthawk shrugged. Nighthawk: I am not sure big guy. This is very unlike him. I have no idea what he has planned. We are going to find out though. Nighthawk adjusted his heading, as he transmitted a docking request to The King Raven. Anaconda: I have my reservations about this. Nighthawk: Relax. I know this crew...they are not going to try anything. Just stay cool and everything will be fine. Nighthawk confirmed the message from the King Raven which gave him clearance to dock in Hanger Bay 2. Nighthawk flew towards the hanger of The King Raven, slowing his approach as he passed through the security barrier. The Vulture landed inside of the hanger bay and disengaged its engines. As Nighthawk and Anaconda stepped out, they looked around and saw that the hanger deck was devoid of personnel. Nighthawk: It seems everyone is out and about. Just as Nighthawk said this, the door leading into the corridors of The King Raven opened, and Jennifer stepped through. She grinned at the duo. Jennifer: I see you two finally made it. Better late than never I guess. Nighthawk nodded. Nighthawk: Words to live by. Nighthawk paused. Nighthawk: Where is he? Jennifer: Interrogation room 1. Come on...I will show you the way. Anaconda nudged Nighthawk, as get chuckled. Anaconda: I see what she is doing. Nice touch. She really knows how to sell it. Nighthawk gave a sly nod. He had to admit he liked how Jennifer distanced herself in order to avoid giving any hints to his identity. Nighthawk and Anaconda followed Jennifer out of the hanger bay, towards Interrogation room 1. Before the trio entered, Jennifer turned to face Nighthawk and Anaconda. Jennifer: Listen guys...I have never seen Tye like this before. Please...cut him some slack. Don't be too hard on him. Give him his space and give him the flexibility he needs. I have no idea what is going through his head...but everything around this suggests its big. Nighthawk and Anaconda nodded. Nighthawk: Don't worry...we know how this has to go down. He won't like the fact that we are here...but...I know how to handle that if it comes up. Jennifer: Good. Jennifer turned, and she opened the door to the interrogation room. The room was mostly dark. Tye could be seen in the middle of the room, sitting at a desk with a lamp on it. Nighthawk and Anaconda moved into the cover of the darkness, not going unnoticed, as Jennifer sat down at the desk, across from Tye. Jennifer: Tye? Shall we begin? (Now is the time to read my STB. Black 1: I am glad you think that way Jacob. I am glad you can relate to what The Trust is doing. Black 1 paused. Black 1: It will take more than that. Trust Operatives are exceptional people. People who have recognized the need to...nullify their morals qualms, for the sake of survival. SOme of the decisions we must make...are difficult ones. Sometimes...we do let people die...for the greater good. Hundreds, thousands, millions. As long as it contributes to our survival. We are not above sacrificing a colony to save a civilization. Black 1 paused again. Black 1: The thing to remember is, The Trust does not believe in judging methods...only judging results. Black 1 laughed a bit. Black 1: I am sure you have heard a lot of horrible things about us. The people who speak ill against The Trust...are people who judge us by our methods. The people who have joined us...judge our results. Black 1's voice became stern. Black 1: I have made the mistake of trusting new people before. That mistake...cost me a member of my team. I will not lose another member because a newcomer joined the ranks. Jacob...I need to know...is there anything you won't do? Is there any order so...objectionably offensive...that you will refuse to follow it? If there is Jacob...I cannot allow you to join The Trust. I will not allow you to endanger everything that I believe in. Black 1 stepped towards Jacob, backing him into the wall. Black 1: Is there any order you will not follow? For your sake...that answer better be "no". Meanwhile: Novak looked at The Risk Takers and shrugged. Novak: I am not overtly concerned with the state of your armor. Armor can be easily replaced. Novak paused. Novak: What concerns me is the flesh uner the armor. I need to know how you are doing...physically. If you are not operating at 100%...I cannot risk deploying you again until you are fully recovered. Novak approached the Risk Takers. Novak: I realize that those two are frustrating opponents...Nighthawk especially, because, by his own admission...he is just a man. What keeps him alive is the persistent presence of The Brute...constantly saving his life. Your tactics must counter this.

[Hells Sniper]

Jacob looked at Black 1. There was only so much Jacob would do, but he also knew, that this thing with the Trust wouldn't last forever. Once he got enough information he would leave, but for now...for now he had to play the part. He had to lose his morals and he had to become a Trust operative. Jacob looked Black 1 in the visor, trying to find his eyes. He stared deeply. Jacob: You give me an order that works towards the survival of humanity...I will do it. I'll pull the trigger, I'll press the button, I'll destroy the city, I'll sacrifice whatever I need. Jacob nodded. Jacob: I'll do it. Meanwhile: Lyle nodded and looked at his tacpad. He checked his team's vitals, most of which were at full capacity. Lyle: Jessica and Desmond need medical attention. They have the most major wounds, but will be operational within the hour once they get it. Savannah and William also have slight wounds, give that fifteen minutes. The rest of us are fine. Lyle looked up at Novak. Lyle: I can dismiss them now and we can discuss Nighthawk and Anaconda.

Black 1 looked at Jacob. Black 1: I am going to hold you to that Jacob. You better stand by that assertion. Black 1 backed off. He then turned, and continued walking. The other members of Black Team had been watching the interaction between the two men, but they kept silent. Black 1 continued to lead Jacob, and the rest of Black Team to the armory. As Black 1 approached the door to the armory, he entered a code on a control panel that was mounted on the wall, unlocking the door. Black then proceeded to walk inside of the armor, with the rest of the group. Black 1: Alright Jacob...suit up, get what you need, and report to us when you are ready. Black 1 then looked at Black Team, and nodded, as they broke up, and went their seperate ways in the armory. Each of them began to reload and re-gear their equipment. Meanwhile: Novak: Jessica and Desmond will be taken care of. If there is one thing I know how to do, it is keep people operating at peak efficiency. Novak paused. He looked at Jessica and Desmond. Novak: I want you two to report to the lab, get that armor removed, and then report to the Automated Surgery Suites. It should not take long to get your injuries patched up. Novak looked at the others. Novak: The rest of you will also report to the lab, get that damaged armor removed, and gear up with replacement armor. Novak then looked at Lyle. Novak: You and I...we can talk about Nighthawk and Anaconda.

[Hells Sniper]

Jacob looked around the armory. One place where he knew he could feel at home for a bit, giving himself some time to recoup and get ready for the next engagement. He had to play the part, be the Trust operative these people wanted him to be. Once that was taken care of, he could grab whatever information he needed and get back to the UNSC. Hopefully, they'd take him back once he explained the plan. Hopefully, the commanders believed he was still loyal. Jacob walked into the armory and began to rearm himself, grabbing extra mags for his Socom and switching out his sniper rifle for an assault rifle. If he was shot down by either the Covenant or the UNSC, he wanted to be prepared for close quarters. Meanwhile: Lyle turned and looked at his team. He nodded and within a few moments the rest of the Risk-Takers began to leave and head for the lab. Lyle was familiar with the Automated Surgery Suites, it would take at least a half hour to an hour for all them to be at full operational capacity again. Lyle turned back to Novak. Lyle: I take it you got a chance to look at some of the footage we were able to capture of the cyclops?

[Naked Crook]

Novak: I keep an eye on all of our Special-Purpose teams...including The Risk Takers. I watched your entire engagement with Nighthawk and Anaconda. I saw The Cyclops...I saw their tactics...I saw everything. Novak paused. Novak: I saw your tactics. Novak sighed. Novak: 7 on 2...should be a foregone conclusion. There is only one way that should end. 7 highly trained Trust Super Soldiers...against some guy and an animal that can talk. I can think of only one outcome, but I am not seeing it. Novak paused again. Novak: In your opinion Lyle...what went wrong? What happened? Why are Nighthawk and Anaconda still alive? Meanwhile: Black 1 kept his eye on Jacob. He watched his movements, carefully. He observed his body language. He knew Jacob was partially distracted, just based on the way he was moving. He could tell Jacob was not 100% focused on what he was doing. SOmething was going through his head, and Black 1 wanted to know what it was. Black 1: Jacob! Is something on your mind? You seem to be taking your time gearing up. Having trouble deciding on your weapon loadout?

[Hells Sniper]

Jacob turned and looked at Black 1, but continued to grab some magazines off the wall. Jacob: Exactly that actually. Decided to stick with close range weapons this time, just in case worst comes to worst down there. Jacob turned and pulled the stock back on his assault rifle. Jacob: Don't wanna be stuck in a crash site with a sniper rifle when we all the Covenant likes to get up close and personnel to crashed human ships. Meanwhile: Lyle leaned on the table. Lyle: We were not prepared for the destructive force of that Cyclops. It was an unforeseen circumstance and we did not have the equipment to take it down. Lyle shook his head. Lyle: I also did not expect a second brute and elite shipmaster to come to their aid. They pulled three of my Spartans to engage. Lyle shook his head again. Lyle: Our weapons were ineffective, Doc. We need something stronger, something with more punch.

[Naked Crook]

Novak: Believe me...we have some of our best engineers working on new equipment to use against these two. However, for the time being...we are stuck with what we have. Novak paused. Novak: However, the most important thing we can have in any confrontation with Nighthawk and Anaconda is experience. Everytime you fight them...we learn more and more about them. We learn more about what they are capable of. We learn more about their arsenal, and their equipment. We learn more about how well they synchronize as teammates. Mastery of intel is what will play the biggest role in their defeat. Novak paused again. Novak: You have to keep fighting them. Remember...they are not invulnerable. They get weak. They get tired. They get injured. The Risk Takers have the benefit of The Trusts's cumulative assets. Nighthawk and Anaconda...they are alone. Make sure your team understands this Lyle. You must be relentless in your pursuit...or you will never defeat them. Meanwhile: Black 1: That is assuming that worse will come to worse. Remember...you have the rest of Black Team on this one. It is very rare that worse comes to worse when we are involved. Black 1 paused. Black 1: But, if you think that you will be better off with an Assault Rifle, than the weapon that you are an expert with...then feel free to take the Assault Rifle. The only thing I ask is that you hurry up and make your selection. Black 3 laughed. Black 3: Truthfully...I think he is ditching his Sniper Rifle cause he knows that there is a better Sniper on the team.

[Hells Sniper]

Jacob glared at Black 3. Jacob: If this was a true ground engagement, I'm sure we'd put that to the test, Black 3. Jacob chuckled. Jacob: And I'm sure we'd find out very quickly who the better sniper was. Jacob turned to Black 1. Jacob: I'm ready. Meanwhile: Lyle nodded. Lyle: Yes, of course, of course. I will make that abundantly clear to my time. We will learn what tires them out, what makes them irk, what makes them drain energy faster. Lyle paused. Lyle: We will taunt them in the next engagement, learn their strategies together, so next time, we can crush them.
