Jacob had since taken a seat and removed his helmet.

Jacob: For once...we finally took the skies back. Shit.

Meanwhile:

The pelican flew threw space, passing debris and bodies alike. Eventually, they were near the city of Carver and landing directly in the middle of it. Harrison got out, following Strike Team Diamond towards the spaceport terminal.

Tyber: Yeah...it is hard to believe. I hate to say it, but we usually lose those battles. It is nice to win one, for a change.

Tye sighed.

Tyber: However...I am sure our boys up there really paid for it. I cannot imagine what the death toll was.

Tye paused again. He was going tp speak again, but he saw Jennifer return with Nighthawk and Anaconda.

Tyber: Well, well...look who decided to join in.

Nighthawk: Well...I always enjoy a nice get-together. But...don't we all?

Jacob stood upwards, he looked at Nighthawk.

Jacob: Depends on the get-together.

A few moments later, Harrison entered the terminal followed by the strike team. Most of the soldiers saluted, but Harrison waved them off, telling them to get back to work and not worry about saluting. It was then Harrison noticed Anaconda and approached the group.

Harrison: There are my fighters. Captain Frost, you look well. Commander, Captain Sharpmen, Cam...you all have done valiant work today.

Harrison turned to Nighthawk and Anaconda.

Harrison: And I believe a thanks is in order.

Nighthawk look at Harrison.

Nighthawk: I am sure you would of saved my ass if our situations were reversed.

Anaconda let out a growl, as if he doubted what Nighthawk said.

Jacob sighed, he always knew Nighthawk had sarcasm.

Harrison simply nodded, he was unphased.

Harrison: Well, yes, of course.

Harrison turned to everyone.

Harrison: Onto the real issues however. I need a sitrep of what's going on down here.

Robertson looked around. He wasn't sure if they had a flare gun on them. He knew that Fireteam Harmony typically didn't keep one around. He made a mental note to suggest it to Arman if everyone made it out alive. He went and checked Calhoun's rucksack. Their luck held out as there was a flare gun. Through the rustling, Calhoun began to wake up. His head was less woosy and dizzy from the crash as the other two, but looking at the three on the floor spooked him.

Calhoun: "I'm assuming we're upside-down?"

Cadieux and Robertson looked at Calhoun.

Cadieux: "Yeah, we crashed in a building. Sergeant Robertson has already radioed for help."

Calhoun nodded in approval. He cut himself free, landing squarely on his feet.

Robertson: "I hope you don't mind me borrowing this."

Robertson held out the flare gun showing him, but Calhoun wasn't concerned about one piece of equipment being used. To him, everyone's survival was important, and by the immediate assessment, the odds were stacking up. Robertson pressed the 'open hatch' button. The phantom confirmed it was the right button with the sound of the hatch attempting to open, but failing.

Cadieux: "Do you think some of the debris trapped us in here?"

Robertson: "I hope not. I mean, if so, I know a few things to change that."

Calhoun: "Any reckless use of explosives could cost us our lives. There's no way you can be sure of the condition this phantom is in, nor whether or not the phantom is the only thing keeping the building we're in up. There are too many variables here."

Robertson: "I wasn't thinking large, man. I was actually suggesting a couple plasma grenades for the corners. Use them to blow open the rear hatch."

Calhoun thought about the suggestion.

Calhoun: "That may just work. Alright go ahead, Sarge. I'll get the boss out of her seat."

Robertson: "Be careful, she has a serious head wound. I left her there to not increase the severity of the injuries."

Calhoun: "Ok, thanks for telling me."

As Calhoun worked to get Arman out of her harness, Cadieux dragged Axlon towards the cockpit, clearing the area for Robertson to work on the explosives. When everyone was clear, he activated one of the grenades and joined them. The first grenade went off sending a chain reaction letting the rest go off, weakening the hatch to physical force.

Robertson: "Well that wasn't suppose to happen."

Robertson went up to the hatch and kicked it. The hatch began to open slightly. A few more kicks became apparent that the hatch was opening more and more. Calhoun joined Robertson and the two moved to body check the door, successfully barging it down. The luck of everyone continued to hold as they were in a partially clean opening through the building.

The breeze of San Angeles filled the phantom, giving everyone a moment of relaxation. Robertson climbed over the debris that had filled a part of the hole and reach where the wall would be. He held the flare gun up to the sky, making sure the path for the flare would be a clean one and fired. The red flare soared into the sky, reaching a very high height and exploding. Now all they had to do was wait and hope someone would come soon.

Tye looked at Harrison. He shrugged.

Tyber: Well, sir, as you may have guessed, we have already started the evac of the civilian population. That is proceeding ahead of schedule due to our rapid response, and also in large part to the fact that we have had these people prepped for launch for some time now. I can give you a timeframe of roughly 3 more hours to get every evac bird off this planet, and away from this combat zone. We may be able to cut it down to 2 hours if we launch the smaller evac ships in larger groups. However, the larger evac ships should be launched one at time to ensure the safety of both the ships and the occupants.

Tye paused.

Tyber: On the combat front, we are re-establishing our perimeter, and putting our resupply to good use. We have reinforced our major defensive points, and we are quickly getting reorganized. However, Jacob can brief you further if you so desire. THis is not what I was in charge of, I am just rehashing summery information.

Tye paused again.

Tyber: On our causality and injury front, we did sustain quite a number of injuries. That last battle hit us hard, and wiped out a number of good people, most of them to injuries, with the rest to, well, the inevitable conclusion to life. The injured are currently being prepped for evac back to the fleet. If you want a more detailed briefing on this, on the exact number of our losses, I would suggest you talk to Jennifer about that.

Tye then motioned his head at Nighthawk and Anaconda.

Tyber: Then we have those two. They apparently have access to the local Covenant Battle Net, something they only recently pulled off.

Nighthawk leaned against a desk, and folded his arms. He spoke up when he was mentioned.

Nighthawk: I am willing to...extend my exclusive access to the local Covenant Battle Net to you and your fleet for tactical purposes. If we have at least one thing in common, it is to see the defeat of The Covenant, here and now.

Nighthawk paused.

Nighthawk: However...you should know that I am not on San Angeles ENTIRELY because of The Covenant. There are other things going on here that you should all be aware of. So, you guys can finish your little debrief, and I will even let you have access to the local Covenant Battle Net. However...let me make one thing abundantly clear; The Covenant is NOT your only problem here on San Angeles.

Sergei looks over and sees a brute charging at Duece, Sergei takes his rifle and opens fire enraging the brute who charged at him throwing him off his feet.

Sergei: Get down everyone!

Sergei getting back on his feet gets hit down again even harder than before the brute then when to stomp on his face when sergei rolled over in time. Pulling out his pistol he shoots the Brute in the knee and at the joint of the leg, only to hear a roar and the brute took out his plasma pistol and shot Sergei in the shoulder when Duece comes up from behind and screams as he tries to dislodge the beast from being on top of Sergei, buying him enough time to get back on his feet when the Brute grabs Duece and swings him over his shoulder landing him hard. As soon as Sergei was on his feet he pulls out his combat knife and stabs the brute in a unprotected neck area, only to hear more screaming. The brute turns around and punches Sergei throwing him into a wall.

Brute: Raar!

The brute charges at full speed at Sergei, moments before the impact sergei rolled out of the impact zone, and Ace took aim with a pistol putting two bullets in the neck when the Brute turned around.

Ace: I got you big guy you owe me!

Harrison nodded. He listened to Tye, getting a recap of the basic summary of what had been happening throughout the day. He had been cut off from them for what seemed like days, and was thankful that most of the senior staff was still kicking down here.

Harrison turned to Nighthawk when he began to talk. He was taken a bit back when he was told about the Covenant not being his only problem.

Harrison: Not my only problem, eh?

Harrison sighed and folded his arms behind his back.

Harrison: I need to debrief all of you on some things that have happened since we lost contact, and Captain Sharpmen, we need to talk about your mission.

Jacob interjected.

Jacob: Sir, about that.

Harrison shook his head.

Harrison: Later, Captain. I need to know about this other problem I have here.

Jacob nodded.

Jacob: Well, sir. It involves your other problem.

Harrison looked at Jacob cautiously.

Harrison: What?

Jacob stood upwards and reached into his pocket to pull out the datachip for Harrison.

Jacob: They all know about the mission, sir. It got sour almost immediately after I started.

Jacob handed Harrison the datachip and Harrison grabbed it, running it through his fingers.

Jacob: Augustus Kolya, a not-so-friendly Naval Officer, attacked me on base. We fought, we tussled, he almost won. I had to destroy the base and I got out alive. Along the way, some other things happened. Kolya chased me in a pelican, CPO McLaren came to help, she got shot down, I followed to save her. Then the Covenant attacked us, and I managed to steal a Covenant phantom and get away. It was a shitstorm to say the least, sir.

Jacob sighed.

Jacob: That's how he was able to get into the Battle Net, with the phantom I stole.

Jacob stopped. Harrison was still looking at the datachip, but he was obviously thinking.

Harrison: Augustus Kolya, who is he?

Jacob chuckled.

Jacob: Well, apparently, he is part of a military syndicate called "The Trust."

Jacob put air quotes around the Trust, and then nodded at Nighthawk.

Jacob: Nighthawk can tell you more, but I do know for certain that they've been after both us before, Admiral.

Harrison looked upwards. He had never forgotten that assignment. What was supposed to be a quick and easy ODST training mission turned into months of hell, and just off of Earth's borders. Jacob saved his life more than once that year.

Harrison: 2523...

Jacob nodded. Harrison slid the datachip into his uniform pocket and turned to Nighthawk. He folded his arms behind his back once again and talked to Nighthawk in a polite tone.

Harrison: Who are the Trust? And why are they here?

Nighthawk shrugged.

Nighthawk: In all honesty...I am not sure what The Trust is up to most of the time. 100% of the time, I only figure it out after piecing all the facts together. However...here is what I do know for certain; I know why The Covenant is here, I know how they got here, and I know what the Trust is hiding.

Nighthawk paused.

Nighthawk: The Covenant is here because they believe that something...or someone...of INCREDIBLE and fundamental importance to their religion is here, on San Angeles. As for how The Covenant got here; The Covenant is here because The Trust brought them here.
