Their heavy shields protect it from head on attacks with 3 layers of shields as well as concussion shields protecting them from physical objects such as meteors or missiles.
Being very expensive, and has to be built in space due to its size of 3 miles long it can dock 3 Heavy cruisers but all other ships in space uses shuttles to get to the station. They are also seen nearby a jump gate if in deep space, where a number of Jump Gates are, they will be protecting them.
