Tye sighed. He stopped in his tracks, and turned to face Sergai. Tye was livid. He was totally enraged by Sergai's brainless comment. Tyber: Sergai...a bunch of innocent civilians were just killed, and we suffered heavy losses to our forces. A Covenant Corvette bombarded the city, and The Covenant will be closing in on our position from all sides. We are surrounded on all sides, by our enemies, and our forces are heavily demoralized and tired. Tell me...when were we "having fun"? Since when was watching your fellow soldiers die, considered fun? Is this a game to you? What the hell is wrong with you? Seriously...I want an answer to that question Spartan.

[Erex]

Sergai: I was talking about killing the Covenant, My regret is we didn't kill enough, there will never be enough for the lives that were lost, its not a game, I'm human I feel the pain knowing civilians, died, and I make it their deaths the reason I will make every covenant pay for what they did here, I'm trying to make light of a sad situation because doom and gloom isn't always what is needed, what is needed is morale becuase we just retreated. These marines and soldiers don't need to be given more bad news, more doom and gloom, because too much bad news eats at you.

Tyber: Don't be making light of sad situations by mixing humor in with the atrocities that The Covenant is committing. If you want to boost morale...try something with a little more tact and a little bit more professional. You are not here to make people smile...you are here to inspire them to fight. Tye sighed. he shook his head. Tyber: This is why I am in charge Spartan. Remember that. When it boils down to it...I don't need jokes and smiles to motivate my people to fight. All I need is my leadership abilities to remind these people that rage is a hell of a pick-me-up. I don't want these people smiling...I want them pissed off...and the best way to piss them off is to ground them in reality with the truth as to what is happening. Right now...the truth is nothing BUT doom and gloom right now. Tye paused. Tyber: With that said...let me handle the morale. All you need to focus on is shooting at what I tell you to shoot at. Sergai: Understood sir. My apologies if for insulting you. Sergai was disappointed with himself, he always found humor to boost morale, even in the worst situations. But he realized now wasn't the time or the place, he matured a little bit but he allowed his humorous part of himself die, to ensure he wouldn't make the mistake again.

[Hells Sniper]

Harrison stood there, pondering Frosts' request. Burke was a good commander, his experience of being on the King Raven alone suited him for command. And Frost was a great medical officer, she could and most likely would do a lot of good to the ground forces. Seeing a NAVAL commander on the ground was an even bigger morale boost. Harrison: Permission granted, Captain. I want a security escort with you at all times. Harrison paused. Harrison: And bring a batch of emergency responders with you, they sure could use them down there. Harrison paused again and then leaned in on the holotank. Harrison: Captain Reynolds, prepare to cover the King Raven, looks like we have a few cruisers on the fleet's trail. Harrison stood and turned to his weapons officer. Harrison: Prepare the rest of the even numbered archer pods, get the autocannons rolling, and fire on my mark. Meanwhile: Lt. Mendez: They are falling back to a sector outside the system, Captain. Jacob threw his hands into his face. He couldn't believe it was that bad in space. When he left the Inferno the third time all seemed to be going in their favor. Jacob: Is the HQ under lock down LT? Lt Mendez: Yessir. Although, a vulture just landed. Commander Vernette was on board. Jacob's eyes widened. The only vulture on the ground was Nighthawk's and Anaconda's. Jacob: And two terrorists. Jacob grabbed his helmet and ran off to greet Tyber and the others.

[Kairu]

Reynolds: "You've got it Admiral, all guns and batteries are ready to fire. You point, we'll shoot." Reynolds looked to his officers, each one nodding back signalling that they were ready for anything. He then reviewed the engines, ensuring that if they needed to run, they would run like Hell was on their heels.

[Naked Crook]

Jennifer: Understood sir...The King Raven will link up with you at the fallback zone, and I will hit the surface and see if I can help the situation down there, patch up our people, and keep them on their feet. Jennifer paused. Jennifer: And Admiral... Jennifer paused again. Jennifer: Thanks... Jennifer closed the comm line. She looked at her communications officer. Jennifer: Lieutenant...inform Commander Burke that he is to assume command of The King Raven immediately. Inform him that I will be hitting the surface. The communications officer nodded. Communications Officer: Yes Ma'am. Good luck down there. Jennifer nodded. Jennifer: THis will be the last group of Pelicans leaving The King Raven...so...any marines and emergency responders that are ready to go at this instant are to gather in the hanger bay right away. Communications Officer: Yes Ma'am. I will signal every squad, and relay your instructions. Jennifer nodded. SHe walked off the bridge of The King Raven, and made her way to the hanger bay. As she approached hanger bay 1, walking down the corridor, she her someone call her name. Burke: Jennifer! Jennifer stopped. She turned and saw Burke running down the corridor, trying to catch up with her. Jennifer: David...what are you doing here? Burke: What am I doing here? What are you ding here? Jennifer...you cannot be serious about going down there! Jennifer: David... Burke: No...Jennifer...listen to me. It is far too dangerous down there. Your place is here, on The King Raven...on the bridge...commanding this ship! Jennifer: David...I... Burke: If anything...I should be going down there. I should be the one going... Jennifer: Why? Burke: Because... Burke paused. Burke: Because... Burke paused. Burke: Your death would have an unacceptable impact on...certain people. Jennifer: What are you talking about? Burke: Look...Jennifer...let me be blunt about this; I am fully aware of your ongoing relationship with Preston Vernette. You two keep it on the down low...but he and I are best friends...we frequently confide in each other. He has spoken about you in ways that... Burke paused. Burke: In ways that were identical to the way he spoke about his first wife...before she was killed. Jennifer hung her head. Burke: Jennifer...I have known Preston Vernette for a long time...and let me tell you...the years following his wife's death were some of the darkest years for him. I saw a transformation in him that, as a friend, I considered to be terrifying. However...recently...I have seen a more...positive change in his life after you two...started spending time together. Burke paused. Burke: If you died...I cannot even begin to describe what it would do to him. Burke paused. Burke: You can't go...it is too dangerous. You are the acting CO of this ship...and that makes me the acting first officer. As first officer...I am well withing my right to tell you that... Jennifer raised her hand. Jennifer: David... Burke paused. Jennifer: You have not told me anything new. I know the risks...and I know the dangers. However...I have an obligation to render aid to people who are in need. I cannot ignore that. You should be able to understand that...we are in the same line of work. Burke: I know...but... Jennifer: But nothing. David...I am leaving you in command. If you are so concerned about my safety...than I am sure you will do everything in your power to ensure that you spend as little time preparing for a counter-attack, and making sure that things move along as quickly as possible. I trust that you will handle the command of this ship in a manner most befitting someone who is unwilling to accept delays, slow-downs, and excuses that would lead to the UNSC being unable to mount an effective counter-attack. I am confident that you will demonstrate exemplary command ability...just to make sure that you can come back to San Angeles to engage The Covenant...and save our asses at the 11th hour. Burke sighed. Jennifer: Am I right? Burke: Yes... Jennifer nodded. Jennifer: Good luck... Burke nodded. Burke: Stay safe down there...Captain. Jennifer nodded again. She turned, and proceeded into the hanger bay. She joined the Marines and emergency responders who had athered, and she departed with these soldiers, to the surface of San Angeles, en-route to Regional HQ Bravo. Burke, on the other hand, accepted the situation, and proceeded back to the bridge of The King Raven. THe moment he walked onto the bridge, he sat down in the command chair. Burke: Status? Helm Officer: Sir...The Mind's Attrition is standing by, ready to link up with us, and rendevouz with Admiral Harrison and what is left of his fleet. Burke: Understood. Link up with The Mind's Attrition...and take us out. The King Raven came about. It had left ELO, and proceeded to link up with The Mind's Attrition. The King Raven was ready to follow The Mind's Attrition's lead. Meanwhile: Tye sighed. After he was finished speaking with Sergai, he turned and continued walking. He stopped when he saw Jacob emerge from one of the roof's rooftop staircases access doors. Tyber: Jacob! Good to see that you are still alive. It was my understanding that you managed to lead the last of our soldiers to this location. Good job...you saved quite a few lives. I am impressed. It took a lot of guts to run through that hell down there.

Harrison watched the King Raven link up with the Mind's Attribution. He was a few hundred kilometers in front of them, getting to ready to fend off the first cruiser. Harrison: Captain Reynolds...Commander Burke, full throttle to the rendezvous! Move it! Meanwhile: Jacob nodded, yet hung his head. Jacob: Too many died, though...I should have seen it coming, it's never that easy with the Covenant. Jacob paused, he looked around and saw Sergai and Cameron. Jacob: I see you brought some Spartans along with the terrorists? Jacob looked at Tye and leaned in. Jacob: Tye...why are they here with us?

Tye shrugged. Tyber: Believe it or not...they kinda...saved my ass a while ago. Had it not of been for them...Cameron, Sergai, and I would of been reduced to scortch marks on the ground. We were on assignment...extracting a UNSC naval officer from a Covenant field base. That same field base was about to be carpet bombed by Admiral Harrison's Longswords. He was unwilling to call of the carpet bombing, but was willing to let us go in to extract the officer. We would not of made it out of there alive had they not of extracted us. Tye paused. Tyber: They have been helpful...and they might be helpful down the road. Let's be fair about this...can we really afford to be picky right now? It is not like we have a lot of people in our ranks right now.

Jacob nodded. He backed away. Jacob: I just don't want you to forget what they did to us on Genesis. Jacob paused. Jacob: But I am glad you made it out alive! I heard the whole buzz about the Naval Officer...quite traumatic it seems. I don't think they could have found a better man for the job Tye... Jacob paused, he threw on his helmet and locked in on. Jacob: Now...where are my manners! Let's get you settled in, there is a lot to fill you in on, and you are now the acting Commander... Jacob paused and smiled. Jacob: Commander.
