If you want the solution, try reapplying the patch after the mod is installed.

that didnt work, all it said was that the patch was alredy installed

Ok, here is my advice.
  1. Delete the GaW mod. Make sure that all FOLDERS in the data directory are deleted. At the very least, delete the XML folder.
  2. Apply the UNOFFICIAL PATCH for 64 bit windows that corrects this error. Do not use the official one.
  3. Once the patch is installed, you should see a new XML folder in your DATA directory. If you open this XML folder, you will see a few XML files. Copy these to yo0ur desktop.
  4. Install GAW
  5. Take the XML files you copied to your desktop and paste them into the GAW XML folder. click YES to overwrite any files.
This should help with the crashes. Try this and get back to me.

that got it working, but the enemy AI is not working at all

Yes, I know.

That is a result of a scripting error that was never found during 2.0. Wait for 2.1. it is coming up.
