Critos and the other fought with the Romans. Althought Critos and the other inmates outnumbered the Romans, many of the inmates were but civil men, not trained in advanced combat. It was here the Romans had the advantage.
However, it was not an advantage the Romans could hold for long. As the fighting went on, the limited forces of the Romans grew tired as the vast population of inmates and rebels were constantly rotating their soldiers, preventing fatigue.
It was not long until the last roman was butchered.
Critos looked at what was left of the inmates.
Critos: We must go forward! We will move and march unto Rome until it is rubble beneath our feet!
Critos: Critos...was once a legionary in the roman army...I was thrown in here when I was suspected of being involved with the rebellion. They were right...I was involved with the rebellion.
Critos looked at Carbo
Critos: And yes...as for who you are...I do recall the death of the last Emperor...nicely played if I may say so.
Ambrosius: Sir, it's awful out there! The Rebels have infiltrated every settlement on the way to Rome. Towns and villages are burning. They're slaughtering any loyal Roman. Whether it's a family, the governor, or just officials or soldiers. It's hell out there.
Aquilinus: I didn't mean the Empire...I meant the battle! I am the Emperor! Do you think I don't know whats going on out there! There isnothingwe can do for those settlements...they are lost.
Aquilinus paused.
Aquilinus: Unless..we wait for the Rebels to come to us...on our home ground
Meanwhile:
Carbo smiled.
Carbo: Get these inmates prepared...armor, weapons, and a shield for everyone. The armory will provide the neccessities. The stables will do fine for any ex-legionnaire. Everyone else...walks.
Carbo paused.
Carbo: Oh...and welcome to the Rebellion...Centurion.
