Director Vernette's Personal Notes

This species does nothing but creep me out. Giant fruit flies is what I see when I look at them. I doubt the understand, or have the intelligence, to comprehend loyalty, friendship, or emotion of any kind. They chirp and they scream in battle, they chirp and scream when not in battle, they chirp and scream when they are eating, and they chirp and scream when they are buzzing around, generally being annoying. I can safely say, I will never allow ONI to align itself with such an inferior species. They might make good pets however.

They seem to be smart enough to use guns, aim them, and pull the trigger. However, I doubt they are capable of unassisted space travel, and I doubt they are smart enough to be useful to ONI. I don't even give the order to capture these things. Simply put, for intelligence purposes, they are useless, as they cannot speak english, but I have seen a few instances where they have imitated an english word or two. They are like parrots in a sense, learning to talk as a parlor trick.

The Brutes

The Yanme'e - AKA: Buggers
Latin Name: Turpis Rex
Homeworld: Palamok
General Weight: Between 150 and 180 lbs
General Size: 5"10'
Eye Color: Gold
Skin Color: Green, Yellow, Mixed
Hair Color: N/A
Physical Properties: Bug-like, winged, bipedal

The Yanme'e - AKA: Buggers

The Buggers are an insectoid species that are covered in a natural chitinous exoskeleton. They do not interact with the other species except to trade resources and serve in the military[4] and their exact position in the Covenant Hierarchy is relatively unknown, although it is reasonable to believe that they are higher in rank than Grunts and Jackals, but lower in rank than Elites and Brutes. They are usually used as mechanics and repair crews on ships when Huragok are not available, though they aren't nearly as effective as the Engineers.

According to Delta, during the Schism era, they did serve as the engineering and repair crew on ships. Their current affiliation now is unknown. I have yet to see any on a Brute ship, or with Brutes.

Early History

There is no known account of early civilization for this species. It surmised that the Buggers were assimilated into the Covenant many years earlier.

Human-Covenant War

Buggers served as both light and fast infantry and repair personnel when Engineers were not around. They were frequently outfitted with plasma pistols, but saw observable upgrades in equipment after the schism. They were provided with Plasma Rifles and even energy shields on the higher ranking Buggers.

Post Covenant Status

It is difficult to say exactly what happened to the Buggers after the dissolution of the Covenant. Some remained in the service of the brutes while others were merely caste off and left to die on Earth. Further information is unavailable due to low priority to ONI intelligence.

Biology / Geneology

Buggers are like most insectoid species; outfitted with an exoskeleton and antennes. Due to lack of scientific research, the exact function of many of the Buggers appendages and other bodily features remains a mystery. Buggers are predominatly male, with the females being used as Queen and breeding concubines. It is unknown how, why, and with how many males are selected to mate, but it is reasonable to conclude that Queens gather multiple genetic samples and lay vast quantities of eggs, which develop into larva. GHowever, this is pure speculative analysis based on established mating patterns of several documented insectoid species, primarily bees.

Physical Appearence

Buggers have gold eyes and, as previously stated, are outfitted with exoskeletons. They are capable of suspended and spontanious VTOL flight by using wing apendages. It is unknown how long a Bugger can sustain flight for.

Personality / Behaviour

Behavioual patterns remain a mystery at this time. It is surmised, this race's interpersonal skills are a lot like bees. Beyond this speculation, there is no information to support such theory.
