Knights of the Old Republic 2 Game Review

Overview
Knights of the Old republic 2 is a third person role playing game. Knights of the Old Republic 2 is set in the star wars franchise, after the Sith and Mandalorian wars. The game is truly astounding, with character development, moral choices, plot twists and everything you want from a game. Read below for my more detailed review of the four major points of this game.
Part One: Story
Knights of the old republic 2 starts off putting you into a tutorial level. If you have read my other reviews we all know how I feel about tutorial levels. Thankfully the developers of Knights of the old republic 2 where smart and included an option to skip the tutorial level if you wished. After the tutorial level you wake up to find yourself almost naked and in the middle of a medical bay. After walking forward you find a broken door, to open the door you go into the morgue and take a plasma torch from a body. After you take the torch you meet Keria another person who is stranded with you. After some searching you find out that you are on a mining station and attempt to escape. Alright, now that I've summed up the beginning of the story lets review the base. The story doesn't have the most solid of bases because of the old "I'm not going to reveal anything about my past grumble grumble." technique used by a lot of games, but the story gets very interesting later on. Now we will move on to the originality of the game. Though star wars games usually are unoriginal, re-in acting movies and such Knights of the Old Republic 2 doesn't do this. The story is original and has never been seen before in the star wars franchise. The way I see it Knights of the old Republic 1 and 2 are both some of the most original star wars games ever.
Total Score: 9/10
Part Two: Game play
The game play is incredibly diverse offering you different play styles and tactics. During a battle you can pause the game to set up your entire party’s attacks and time usages, but the battles are generally real time. Another thing I like about the battle system is no random encounters or even a battle screen, the battles happen literally right on the map. This in my opinion helps the flow of the game tremendously. Another great thing about the game play is you can go anywhere at any time going to whoever planets you wish in any order you wish. (The reason for going to different planets contains spoilers for the games plot so I will not cover that in this review.) The game also hosts a majority of side quests which are all different and have multiple endings and moral choices. Overall the game play is great and flows nicely with the game.
Total Score: 10/10
Part Three: Characters
There are many characters in Knights of the Old Republic 2. You will gain additional party members as you progress through the game. Firstly let’s talk about YOUR character. You can customize him or her to some extent. Sadly you can only choose face, gender and name so your options are limited. To make up for this at the start you not only chose one of three classes, you can assign skill points and chose different abilities your character will start off with. Now let's begin to review the other characters of the game. Your first party member is Keria an old woman who knows much about the force, Keria always wants you to choose the selfish path because anything else is weakness in her eyes, Keria starts with Jedi status. Next there's Aton, Aton flies your ship and is very handy in a blaster fight. His special ability lets him get up with five percent health if he is not the last surviving party member. Aton prefers if you are a light side Jedi. If Aton likes you enough he can become a Jedi as well. Thirdly and lastly on my list is the handmaiden as I am not going to review every party member. (The reason I'm not reviewing every party member is that I don’t want to ruin the surprise for you when or if you play the game.) The handmaiden is a very good melee weapons fighter, like Aton she prefers if you are on the light side.
Total score: 8/10
Part Four: Planets
The planets play a very big role in star wars Knights of the Old Republic 2. Like while reviewing the weapons or vehicles of another game I will list them below.
Peragus: Peragus is a mining facility where the game begins. The player must escape the Peragus station while avoiding or fighting rampant droids, assassin droids and a dark Jedi. After you escape Peragus you may never return. (I will not go into detail on this for people who have not played the game.)
Telos: Telos is where the player goes after they escape from Peragus. Telos security apprehends you and you need to end up doing jobs for Czerka Corporation or the ithorians working to save the dying planet. Whichever one you chose, your ship will be shot down and there you'll find a new party member on the surface.
Dantoine: Dantoine has a ruined Jedi enclave which has many things still inside, if your female you find the Jedi disciple here. Also Dantoine has recently had a lot of mercenaries arriving, but nobody knows why.
Korban: Koriban is a sith planet which has no friendly life, all creatures will attack you. Also if you disturb the remains of skeletons giant beasts will appear and attempt to kill you. (Note: these beasts are good for grinding, as they infinitely spawn.)
Nar Shadda: Nar Shadda is abundant with side quests. Nar Shadda is also one of the most complicated planets in my opinion and it seems to be random when you get to find what you’re looking for.
Onderon: Onderon is a planet which is having a crisis in the government, upon arriving you are shot at and forced to land on dxun. Onderon has another complicated main quest as you are needed to play CSI star wars to find a killer.
Dxun: Duxn is a relatively simple planet; you need to prove yourself to get transport from a group of mandalorian.
Total score: 8/10
Total score overall: 35/40 = 87.5%
