Furium looked at Xyrho. He nodded.
Furium: No objections on my end, shipmaster.
Furium walked behind Xyrho, following him.
Furium: The Chieftain told me of certain places to be concerned of, and certain humans to...
Furium grunted.
Furium: Focus our attention to. If you want to get a view of the battlefield, I can of course go down with my brutes and survey the area.
Meanwhile:
Liam approached the device while the rest of the Risk-Takers stayed where they were. Slowly, as he walked through the vault, scientists stopped and stared at him as he walked down. A few of them turned to look at him, watching him walk down the vault to the device.
Liam eyed up the device, and then slowly walked around it to look behind the device. He noticed it was connected to several ports, with each port connected to a computer or other piece of Trust equipment. Liam removed his helmet and knelt in front of it, he yelled down the corridor.
Liam: Savannah! Up front, now!
Liam waited as he heard the heavy footsteps of a Spartan running up towards him. Savannah knelt down next to him and removed her helmet.
Liam: Can you carry it?
Savannah eyed the object up. She bounced her head back and forth and then nodded.
Savannah: I think I can. But, we're going to have to head up stairs, all the way up. I need a pelican ready to extract as soon as possible. And as long as we maintain control of the city, we can pull out.
Liam: And if we run into trouble?
Savannah: I can't fight with this thing on my back. And we can't risk letting it sit there.
Liam nodded. He looked behind him and yelled to his Spartans, who were lined up looking out of the vault.
Liam: Lyle, front and center!
A few moments later, Lyle appeared behind him and knelt down.
Lyle: Sir?
Liam: You're on the device with Savannah now. Anyone gets too close, you engage them and then get right back to Savannah. She has to keep moving at all costs.
Lyle nodded.
Lyle: Can do, sir.
Liam nodded and put his helmet back on, Savannah followed suit as they all stood up. Liam looked behind him and waved his hand in a circle.
Liam: Alright eggheads, unplug the damn thing, we're pulling this back to the Ulterior Motive!
Liam looked at Savannah and Lyle and nodded. They nodded back. He jogged back up to the rest of the Risk-Takers and looked at them.
Liam: We're taking the stairs, Spartans. Reload, eyes up, check the corners.
Meanwhile:
Jacob was concerned the moment Black 1 began to speak. And every time he spoke, it cut a little deeper inside. He was scared, to be honest, he hadn't been this scared since training. He hadn't been this concerned for his life since 2523. Jacob took deep breaths as they headed up the stairs, he was worried.
He listened to Black 1 and watched him slam his fist through the glass, breaking it.
Black 1: I want you to kill EVERY SINGLE UNSC soldier down there...in three minutes. Black 3 will supervise your shots to make sure you score head shots or kill shots, at the least.
Jacob's heart stopped. And as Black 1 went on and on, when Black 2 cocked his shotgun, he almost had a heart attack. If he didn't do this, here and now, he was going to die. If he didn't do this, he was going to die a traitor. That hurt more than anything in the world. Jacob held the sniper in his hand and set it up on the ledge while Black 1 was still talking.
He had to do this.
To prove himself to the Trust, he had to become one of them. If he could do that, he could get information that could change our fight. He could get information that would change the entire war.
Jacob closed his eyes.
Jacob: God, wherever the fuck you are right now, whoever the hell you are...help me.
Jacob pulled the stock back on his sniper rifle.
Black 1: Your three minutes begins now. Start shooting.
Jacob took a deep breath and lined up his first shot. A random marine, a random marine just doing his job, defending humanity. Jacob knew he would pay for his crimes, that he would pay for this.
No amount of information is worth the loss of so many lives.
But it could save millions.
Jacob pulled the trigger and landed a headshot, killing the marine. He moved to the next marine and fired again. He kept going until his clip went dry, and in a very swift motion he switched out the clips and started again.
