Hair of the Dog RPG This RPG will be based on Soviet/American fishing expeditions that take place in the Norther Pacific during the 1980's before the fall of the communist nation.* Let's set up a few rules.* #1 This is not Halo or Call of Duty. You will be doing a job on a fishing ship during the 1980's. You're not some SEAL or Spetznaz working undercover performing anti terrorist operations.* #2 Because you will be a civilian, and one who works with booths and goes fishing, you are not going to have automatic rifles or rocket launchers.* Here are the weapons you can NOT have. -Automatic Weapons -Semi Automatic Assault Rifles -.50 weapons or other pimped out expensive gun (Desert Eagle, .44 magnum revolver) -No semi automatic shotguns -No explosives Here are weapons you CAN have.* -Lever Action Rifles (I.e. Henry .45 ACP lever action) -Bolt Action Hunting Rifles (I.e. R700) -Pump Action Shotguns (I.e. R870) -Break Barrel Shotguns (I.e. Side by Side *12 Gauge double barrel or just a single barrel one) -Revolvers (.22 revolver, .38 revolver, .357 S&W revolver) NOT ACCEPTABLE REVOLVERS: .44 Magnum, S&W .500 -Semi Automatic Pistols (I.e. Ruger .22 pistol, Glocks, Colts, etc) #3 Sexual Activities will be permitted. No homo, no pornographic novel stuff. Keep it in good taste, and try not to take up too many posts with it.* #4 Actions. Everyone will be at sea for months at a time, and everyone knows that sailors drink. Drinking can cause violence, which is fine. No killing without permission, and expect actions to have trials. These are called captain's masts. If a character is deemed unruly, another character may call a captain's mast in which the captain will have the final say in the fate of the character. Punishments will vary from confinement for indefinite time, or being expelled. Other character can also argue for the defendant, But only the captain will have final say.* #5 In relation to rule #4, certain things will require captains mast and others will not. For example, punching someone in the face will not require captains mast. But if a major fight in which one of both of the people draw guns and are ready to kill each other, captain's mast will be required. Every action will have a consequence, but only some will require punishments. Killing a character, even with the owner's permission, will require captain's mast no matter what. If the defendant is found innocent (I.e. Self defense) no punishment will be necessary.* #6 Use common sense. Like I said before. We are on fishing expeditions. The key to survival is to work together, not have gunfights everyday. Any character doing stupid things will be killed off in some natural disaster or accident (I.e. Wire line snaps and decapitates character) #7 No special forces moves. In other RPGs there was no rule against inflicting damage. In this one, there is. Use common sense.* Here are some examples of what not to do: Jimmy threw a knife at Brian and stuck him in the leg.* Vernette shot Matt in the knee, crippling him.* Delta knocked the Knife out of Stolt's hands and threw him across the room.* Here are things that are fine.* Jimmy threw the knife AT Brian.* Vernette shot AT Matt.* Delta knocked the knife out of Stolt's hands and grabbed him by the collar.* User 1:Stolt threw a right hook at Markovz. User 2: Markovz Countered and threw an punch toward Stolt's abdomen. User 1: Stolt doubled over from the blow but he mustered up the strength to send a round house at Markovz.* User 2: Markovz was knocked down by the round house.* See what I'm getting at? None of that un dodge-able bull crap. If you do this, you will get a warning. If you continue to do it, bad luck will find you (I.e. A rope got caught on his foot and dragged him overboard. The sudden tension ripped his body in half.) #8 Be realistic. You're not gonna be able to hit something 300 yards away with a .22 snub nose revolver while on a moving boat EVERY SINGLE TIME. I've seen Navy SEALs take pot shots at each other with .22 air rifles on moving ships while they were 100 feet away from each other on moving ships, and they couldn't even hit the damn wall behind the other guy.* Here's the forms for the character sheet.* Name: Age: (Preferably mid 20s to early 30's) Sex: (Male or Female, not Yes or No) Nationality: (USA, USSR, Canadian) Job: (Think of a job on a fishing ship. If you can't, write what you would like to do and I will think of one. Some of these will include fisher, translator, radio operator, helmsman, lookout, etc. There will be only 3 captains. I will be one, help me decide a Canadian and Russian one.) History: (Make it short and sweet, if you want. You can have a military career of some sort, no special forces or anything like that.) Weapon: (Only one, no attachments. You can have a knife too, if you want.) Served for 6 years and started his own joint expeditions at the age of 29.* Weapon: S&W .357 revolver Picture:* Captain Dresnok waited patiently at the dock for the others to come. It was a chilly morning in the Alaskan port, and behind him was his ship, next to the Canadian and Russian vessels. He pulled back the sleeve of his wool overcoat to look at the watch on his left wrist.* Maverick: 6:30 AM. They should be coming soon.* He was excited, and felt that this season would be a great one. While he waited, he poured himself a cup of hot coffee from his canteen and sat on top of his luggage to rest his legs.*
