"Understood, and don't worry, ma'am, you won't have to worry about me being too slow." He said, still keeping a lookout for hostile movement.

Meanwhile:

Nighthawk followed behind the Scorpion Tank, matching its speed.

As Nighthawk had his eyes forward, keeping his eyes on the road, Anaconda had spun the turret around, and knelt down, leaning over the driver's seat, letting his head hand down a bit as he spoke to Nighthawk.

Anaconda: We should defiantly keep our eyes open for The Risk Takers. I have a feeling that if The Trust knows we are here...we can count on The Risk Takers showing up.

Nighthawk: They will defiantly be there. However...I am feeling good about our odds. We have Tye, we have Cameron. If we get lucky...Xyrho and Dangerus will pop in to help us thin The Risk Takers even more.

Anaconda: Perhaps. I just find that they are getting more organized every time we face them. They learn quickly.

Nighthawk: That is what they are trained to do Big Guy.

Nighthawk paused.

Nighthawk: We just have to be smarter than they are. We have the potential of having a bigger bag of tricks than they do. We just have to know what to employ...and when.

Anaconda gave a firm grunt.

Nighthawk: Besides...we are still relatively unknown to them. We, on the other hand, have a shitload of intel on them. Remember...we are also building a profile on them.

Anaconda: Hopefully we can start thinning their herd sooner rather than later.

Anaconda grinned.

Anaconda: I have not eaten anything substantial in quite some time. I am curious to see if those cans they fight in seal in the flavor.

Nighthawk: Honestly...I dunno. I have never had the culinary experience of eating my own kind. I dunno how we taste - canned or fresh.

Anaconda: Well...right now...I could eat just about anything. If I had my pick...I would kill for a Thorn Beast. Every part of that creature is just perfect.

Nighthawk: You speak so highly of that creature. What am I missing by not eating it? What is so great about Thorn Beast?

Anaconda: My species is very partial to it. It can be BOTH an appetizer and a desert.

Nighthawk: It's both?

Anaconda: Depends on which part you are eating. The entrails make a great dipping sauce if you grind it up. If you pull the thorns out...you tend to get large chunks of muscle attached to them. It tends to be very soft...very chewy.

Nighthawk: Ok...now you are making me hungry.

Anaconda: You have to try it.

Nighthawk: Doubt I will ever be able to Big Guy. Humans are no good with "raw".

Anaconda: Just try it once. I'll make sure you survive.

Nighthawk: Cook it...then talk to me.

Anaconda: I find cooking it too much can destroy the flavor. You still want some blood in it.

Nighthawk began to laugh.

Nighthawk: Tell ya what...if it means so much to you...find one, capture it, and bring it back to me...and we can split it. If you swear by how good this thing is...I think I can man up and try it ONCE.

Anaconda grunted, as he reached down and slapped his hand against Nighthawk's arm. The Warthog swerved to the right as Anaconda hit his arm.

Anaconda: There you go! Now you are living!

Nighthawk: You are also disrupting my ability to drive.

Nighthawk paused, as he looked forward. He could see headlights in the distance.

Nighthawk: However...I think some good came from hitting me. There are vehicles ahead. Better get that gun ready Big Guy...just in case we are getting unwanted company.

Anaconda began to growl, as he grabbed the gun, and spun it around to face forward.

Nighthawk pulled out from behind The Scorpion Tank, as he accelerated a bit. He honked the horn on his Warthog, telling Marines to get out of his way, as he pulled the passenger side up next to Tye, who was on foot, running along side the Scorpion.

Nighthawk looked to his right.

Nighthawk: Tye...jump in.

Tye looked to his left, and reached over, and grabbed onto the chassis of the hog, as he pulled himself up, into the moving vehicle.

Nighthawk: Not bad Commander...pulling yourself into a moving Warthog this high off the ground.

Tyber: Well...I have the physical endurance to do it.

Tye paused.

Tyber" What's up?

Nighthawk: Headlights dead ahead. I am getting nothing from them. Do you see them?

Tyber: Yeah...I see them. I think they are hostiles. They are not showing any sort of IFF. They defiantly don't belong to the UNSC or ONI. I was about to give the order to engage.

Nighthawk: Please...give the order...

"Hold up." Jesse said, pointing toward the headlights in question with his free hand. "You see that? There's no IFF on that thing, what do ya' want to bet on it not being friendly, eh?" He asked, readying his rifle. "Here we go..." He said, slowly standing up, using his left arm to balance himself on the moving warthog.

Arman: "Get ready Harmony. We're about to get company."

On the turrets, Cadieux and Robertson braced for the waves of Trust soldiers and vehicles, ready to gun through anything that tried to stop them. At the wheel, Arman and Axlon revved the engines a couple times, ready to haul ass if needed.

Tye checked his HUD one final time, before he sent out a message to all UNSC points.

Tyber: All points...this is Commander Vernette...we have confirmed hostiles dead ahead. Green light to engage.

Just as Tye said this, Cameron's Scorpion Tank began to speed up, as the Turret began to adjust its aim.

Tye turned his head to look at the Scorpion Tank. As he did, he continued to speak.

Tyber: Cameron...start the party!

As Tye gave the order, the Scorpion Tank fired off a shell. The shell flew down the street, and the point of impact was very close to the enemy line. Just as the explosion rang out, the Warthogs at the far end of the street began to move forward. Moments after they began to move, a hail of gunfire began to rain down on the UNSC forces.

Tyber: SHIT!

Tye lowered his head behind the windshield of Nighthawk's Warthog.

Nighthawk: I think they are shooting at us.

Tyber: You think?

Tye scoffed, as he once again spoke to all UNSC points via the comm.

Tyber: All points...engage hostile vehicles! Engage!

Cameron's Scorpion Tank fired off a second shell, scoring a direct hit on one of the rapidly approaching warthogs. The burt out chassis began to fly through rhw air, breaking apart into smaller pieces as it flew.

Nighthawk: Alright big guy...start shooting!

Anaconda gave out an almost juvenile grunt of satisfaction, as he adjusted the aim on is Turret, and he began to fire off the turret as quickly as he could. It was clear that Anaconda was taking a great degree of satisfaction from simply firing the turret and doing damage to whatever was unfortunate enough to get hit. However, despite the obvious trigger happy reponse, Anaconda had managed to put a round right through one of the Warthogs, destroying it on impact.

Tye, on the other hand, continued to give orders via the comm.

Tyber: Fireteam Harmony...I want your vehicles to move up and engage. Any Marines with any heavy ordience is to move forward and fire at first opportunity.

Meanwhile:

Xyrho, who was still aboard his Corvette, had left his private chambers, and had returned to his bridge. As he walked onto his bridge, he began to give orders.

Xyrho: I want someone to inform the hanger bay to prepare for the Arrival of some of the Fleet Commander's soldiers. I am expecting their arrival very shortly!

Some of the Elites on the bridge began to give out dissatisfied murmurs.

Xyrho: Is there a problem with that order!?

The Elites immediately began to quiet down. As the bridge fell silent, one of the Elites spoke up.

Operations Elite: NO problem at all Ship master...

Xyrho: Good.

Xyrho paused, as he paced around the bridge. It was clear by the way he was moving, he had something on his mind.

Xyrho: Someone send word to Major Vhat' Komataree. I want him here on the bridge...now. I need t speak with him.

This was already a party. Jesse ducked behind the windshield as they started firing, the only thing unprotected was his right hand, which was aimed his rifle in the direction of enemy vehicles, firing in bursts and scoring hits on unfortunate Warthog gunners. "Down!" He said suddenly after multiple bursts, pressing the magazine release on his weapon and using his left hand to grab another as the empty one dropped. He loaded it in, tapping the mag and racking the slide. "Good to go!"

Jacob was following Black team the whole time, being silent and just listening in on the conversations. The UNSC was coming, and he was going to have to fight. If Nighthawk and Anaconda found him first, Jacob knew he wouldn't survive to prove himself loyal to the UNSC, to ONI. Jacob knew he had to pull something, a trick up his sleeve that no one expected, something that could change the game in his AND the UNSC's favor.

The problem was Black Team, their personal vendetta against Tye meant that's who they wanted to go after. If he was placed with any raggity tag group of Trust marines, he could have killed them in the crossfire and moved into the facility to get data and high-value equipment. The assault and his placement ruined his plans.

Jacob: Maybe pulling a double agent move wasn't the best idea.

Jacob sighed, he only hoped Black Team would mess up and let him pull away. Maybe that Hoffman guy would even ask for him for something. If he could just pull away for ten minutes, that's all the time he needed.

Meanwhile:

The Risk-Takers had reached the basement when they heard the announcement.

Liam: Alright Spartans, safeties off. Let's find this device and get moving.

Liam looked around, he had no idea what he was looking for, but he figured it's where all the eggheads were going.

Meanwhile:

Athios and his squad we're still at the AA gun, but just as he activated it an eerie voice announced the lockdown.

Athios watched the AA gun's color turn a sickly orange.

Athios: Oh fuck. Suicide Squad, we gotta move to that assault site!

Athios jumped down from the AA gun's tower and rolled forward. The rest of the squad had formed up.

Athios: One click Southwest, let's move!

They all started running.

Meanwhile:

Dangerus had since spoken to Furium and a complement of brutes to report to Xyrho. He then took his flagship and a few other brute carriers to the abandoned cities and outlying areas, he wanted to keep them busy while Furium and Xyrho were in New Havana. Dangerus only hoped he could buy them enough time.

Meanwhile:

Furium who had left the flagship with two dozen other brutes approached Xyrho's ship and immediately when to land in the hangar bay, they were contacted by the hangar bay officials and requested to land in a certain bay.

Across the planet...

Harrison watched on the holotable as the assault began. He had kept close eyes on Tye, Cameron, Fireteam Harmony, and a few other squadrons. But, when Nighthawk and Anaconda showed up, he made sure to keep very close eyes on them. Harrison didn't trust them very much, he didn't like them at all, but then again the opposite was true of Jacob.

And everyone knew what happened with that.

Harrison sighed, but his attention came back to him when one of his officers began speaking.

Officer: Admiral, we have a contingent of ships breaking off from the main Covenant force.

Harrison: Heading?

Officer: Twelve ships heading to abandoned areas, or evacuated cities. One corvette's path suggests its heading towards New Havana, sir.

Harrison scratched his chin.

Harrison: Send a warning to Commander Vernette about the Corvette. All points on high alert for Covenant strike teams. Secure the spaceport, I want everything on lockdown.

Another officer interrupted him.

Officer: Sir, word has it that we have lost control of New Havana.

Harrison stared back at the officer.

Harrison: What?

Officer: According to comms, a Trust AI has taken over the city. They control everything, sir. Auto-turrets, city defenses, roadblocks, AA guns.

Harrison leaned on the holotable.

Harrison: Warn all teams not involved on the assault, I want them out of the hot zone immediately.

Harrison paused.

Harrison: Keep an eye on the rest of the ships, if they change heading, warn me.

As Tye was riding shotgun in Nighthawk's Warthog, he saw a notice shoot across his HUD. He read the notice, and then turned to face Nighthawk.

Tyber: Hey...I just got word from the Fleet that The Covenant is moving in to deserted cities.

Nighthawk: They may be moving in to begin glassing.

Tyber: I have also been informed that we have a Corvette on a direct course for this city.

Nighthawk was silent, but Anaconda spoke up.

Anaconda: A Corvette? Ignore it.

Tye looked back at Anaconda.

Tyber: Excuse me?

Anaconda: Ignore it. Trust me.

Tye was very skeptical.

Tyber: Why should we ignore it?

Anaconda grunted.

Anaconda: Just ignore it! If I know the Shipmaster as well as I think I do...you would be best to ignore it.

Tye was not convinced, but he realized there was little to be done at the moment.

Tyber: You better be right about this.

Meanwhile:

Xyrho continued to pace around his bridge. However, he stopped when he was informed that Furium's Phantom was on approach and landing in the hanger bay.

Elite Officer: Shipmaster...The Brute Phantom is currently landing in the hanger bay. Shall we...bring it to the bridge.

Xyrho scoffed.

Xyrho: Bring HIM to the bridge. Do it immediatly!

Xyrho was becoming weary of the petty rivalry between the two races. Given the current situation, the last thing Xyrho needed was infighting.

Furium and his brutes had departed from the phantom, moments later, an elite approached them and looked at Furium.

Elite: The shipmaster requests your presence on the bridge...

Furium looked at the elite and grunted, he followed him towards the bridge, he motioned for the brutes to remain where they were. He glanced behind his back and noticed the brutes staring at the elites across the hangar bay floor. Tension was always high, he knew Dangerus trusted this elite and he follow Dangerus to the end.

But he didn't know this elite, and neither did his brutes.

Within a few minutes, Furium was led to the bridge where he saw Xyrho. He crossed his arms and waited for him to approach him.

Jesse meanwhile kept firing on anything that wasn't tagged. He eventually got sick of them hiding behind their precious vehicles, however, and clipped his rifle to his back, pulling out a grenade. "This should even the odds..." He said, standing up and lining up a throw.
