"All war is a deception." -Sun Tzu

Rules:
This Star Trek RPG takes place starting at Stardate: 89507.8 (mid-year of 2412). Additionally, this RPG will take place in JJ Abram's Star Trek universe, which is an alternate of the Prime Universe established in the series. The use of Star Trek Online to render any ship or character is acceptable, however, for asthetics, all uniforms must be set to the default. Additionally, Starfleet captains DO NOT leave the bridge of their ship during a hostile situation. This is standard regulations and it is therefore recommended to make or have a member-controlled XO. This rule will apply to the Romulans as well.

All other standard TNO RPG and forum rules apply.

Plot and Setup

It is the 25th century. The galaxy is currently divided. A cease fire has swept through the factions temporarily allowing everyone to rebuild and recoup there losses. With the length of the last Galactic War, conflict has been nothing shy of a regular lifestyle to everyone, making the idea for peace a very unspoken, usually unthought of notion.

The Factions:

The Federation: The Federation is a collection of united systems and interstellar races combined under a general code of laws, the biggest one being called the "Prime Directive", or the disallowance of contact with a pre-warp civilization that would otherwise alter the development of a species. The Federation has been long at war with the Klingons for about 200 years since the manipulation of Admiral Marcus. Because of the long fight, the Federation has devoted a lot of its time into massive R&D developing warships to combat and counter the ever powerful Klingon Empire. Major races include: Humans, Andorians, Trill, Betazoids, Tellerites, and the endangered Vulcans.

The Klingons: The Klingons are a very proud and warrior-like race, bound by tradition and have a strong sense of Honor. Although many Klingons will not turn away from covert tactics and espionage, they do however, prefer a straight fight. With the war with the Federation, the Klingons made a push to integrate nearby species into its fold. Although they hold no position of power within the Klingon High Council, the sub-species have been known to be equally powerful as their leaders within the Klingon Defence Force. Major races include: Klingons, Gorn, Nausicaans, and Orions

The Romulans: The Romulan Star Empire, has for the past 200 years remained rather docile since the Nero incident. The Romulans have preferred to keep their distance, monitoring the Galactic War from afar. When battles have raged, they have been known to, from time to time, host skirmishes along their side of the Neutral Zone, leaving no survivors of any fight. In addition to stealth and covert tactics, the Romulans have specialized their talents into master spies and infiltrators, commonly disguising themselves as Federation members. During the War they've expanded their reaches but never engaging in full confrontation. The Tal Shiar remains pure, disallowing conquered species to not serve in the 'pure' military." The only species they have used for soldiers are the Remans, but only during battles that were calculated to have high casualty numbers."

In addition, all ships are to be 'equipped' with standard faction-based weaponry and technology. A Galaxy-class starship cannot be waging a one-ship crusade against 30 Vor'cha Warbirds, using disruptors instead of phasers.

However, after being commissioned as the XO for the USS Igimoto in 2405, Sara and Richard were broken apart. In turn, he was raised by an Aenar family who was once affiliated to Keval's original family. Being the 'sore thumb' of sorts with the Aenar, Keval enlisted to Starfleet when he was 8, repeatedly applying every year until he was both old enough and accepted. And evwntually doing so.

As he aged, he slowly rose through the ranks of Starfleet. He found a lot of war time in his previous ship command, U.S.S. Primrose, a Galaxy-class ship. Now, with a spotless military career and outstanding commendations and medals as well as other personal favors from former C.O.s, he has achieved the rank of Fleet Admiral, commanding a prototype, Odyssey-class starship, Heart of the Aenar.[/sheet]

She didn't want t be directly responsible for a ship, but aspired for a leadership role. Her cold, logic nature allows her to be rational and tactical when faced with any situation.

When she was promoted to Major, she was re-assigned to lead the MACO teams aboard the Heart of the Aenar. Although her commission was signed by a Section 31 member, she is a valuable asset to the MACO teams.[/sheet]

Being a fellow Andorian, she was very eager to serve with an Andorian fleet admiral. She made it her goal to be the first one, but when she wasn't she wanted to join him. Over time, she succeeded and managed to even get to know Keval personally. When offered command of the U.S.S. Heart of the Aenar, he chose Thyni as his XO. She's been by his side since.[/sheet]

POSTING MAY BEGIN NOW

"Admiral's Log, Stardate 89507.8. The fleet is standing by in orbit of the newly discovered Brisa VII. I have decided to withhold the survey teams in favor of sensor scans. We have been having issues getting clear scans in certain spots. Reports have also suggested that Klingons have been active in the sector and are just as dangerous as ever. The U.S.S. Crete and the U.S.S. London have been itching to get surveying the surface personally, but I fear that the surface is not as hospitable to the scientists as we are lead to believe.

I have, however, deployed MACO Team 'Slayer' to the surface to investigate our missing patches of scans. I only hope it's a natural phenomena instead of a something worse."

The alien that ended his log stood up from his desk onboard his ship, the U.S.S. Heart of the Aenar. The man's blue skin was pale from his older age, but his white air glistened like it did in his youth. The Andorian returned to the bridge. He never regarded himself as an impatient person, but when there is a chance of instability, especially near the border of Klingon space, he was, of course, uneasy.

Returning to the bridge, he was greeted with a smile from his XO, a close friend and fellow Andorian. She stood up relinquishing the Command Chair back to th'Zarath.

th'Zarath: "Report, Commander."

The Andorian woman took her chair to the right of th'Zarath.

sh'Kori: "Major Pa'aleia reports that they are within one kilometer of the edge of the gap. It's just over the next hill."

Meanwhile on the surface of Brisa VII:

MACO Squad Slayer was closing in on their target location. The six-person squad was divided into two groups of three. Both groups were neck and neck racing along the land on their respective ARGOs. The surface of Brisa VII was far from dull. The scenery was unique and the trees were colorful and vibrant. Multiple times, they saw unique flora and native species. The squads were going up hill, and when the top of the hill approached, they slowed down, stopping just under the surface top.

Every MACO member climbed out and saddled up, readying their weapons and setting them to stun. When they formed up, they headed towards the hill's top. The anticipation among the six MACO soldiers was skyrocketing, and to their amazement, they stood before a field of plains.

Everyone lowered their weapon with disappointment. However, the Major didn't. She switched her helmet through the available spectrum until she found what she suspected.

Pa'aleia: "Everyone switch to thermal."

The five other MACO soldiers did as they were told and they saw what the Major saw.

McKinley: "What is it, Ma'am?"

Jacobson: "My guess, Private, is that that is one of the sources of the spotty images on the planet that the ship's sensors couldn't scan."

Pa'aleia was unfazed by the discovery.

Pa'aleia: "It is a logical conclusion to suspect as much. However, we will not know for sure until we investigate personally. Rifles up, everyone. Stay sharp and follow me."

The five other MACO soldiers moved close, turning to sweep a general 180 degree area as the moved closer to their target. As they approached the perimeter of the target, Pa'aleia radioed the Heart of the Aenar.

Pa'aleia: "Captain, we believe we have found the source of your spotty sensor scans. You may need to rescan the area in thermal. That is how I initially discovered the anomoly. We are entering the area now, activating radio silence."

The soldiers of Team Slayer nodded in confirmation. As they found the closest door. McKinley approached the door as he began pressing keys.

McKinley: "Major, the code is in Romulan. But it's odd that it uses Klingon encryption."

Pa'aleia slightly turned her head, he back facing the door. Her and the four other MACO soldiers had fanned out, fortifying their position, ready for any ambush.

Pa'aleia: "Can you get it open or not, Private?"

Pa'aleia's tone remained unchanged. She didn't show any concern or discomfort as her Vulcan mindset was unwaivered.

McKinley: "I can with some time."

McKinley continued pressing random sequences of buttons, with the assistance of a device he had attached to the panel. The sequence cracking had gone on for several minutes.

Pa'aleia: "What is your status, Private?"

McKinley wiped some sweat off of his brow. McKinley understood the stress involved and that the longer they stood outside, in front of the door, the chance of being noticed increased.

McKinley: "With respect, Ma'am, this isn't a quick job. I need time to ensure the algorithms and encryptions are accurate to the right dialect of Klingon."

As if they were being listened on, several green bursts were fired on the wall near McKinley, causing a frightened yelp from the Private. Pa'aleia aimed her scope up, barely catching a glimpse of the figure who shot at them.

The Major fired back a three-round burst fire from her Phase Rifle, hitting the cover the attacker was behind. The rest of the MACO squad, with the exception of McKinley, fired on the location that Pa'aleia was firing. McKinley returned to the panel and hurried faster.

Two more green bursts were fired at Team Slayer, killing one of the soldiers who was flanked by the energy sniper fire. The woman screamed in agony as Jacobson and another soldier returned fire on the new attacker, leaving Pa'aleia and a fourth member firing at the original target.

McKinley grumbled in frustration still trying to override the door.

Jacobson: "McKinley! The sooner the door is open, the sooner we can get into cover! You just ran out of time!"

McKinley continued grumbling until the door opened quickly.

Pa'aleia: "Everyone in! I'll bring up the rear!

The two rookies grabbed the sixth injured MACO soldier and dragged her in. McKinley and Jacobson followed in behind, covering both the injured and Pa'aleia. Pa'aleia brought up the rear, firing on whatever moved. The door shut in front of her. When it was compmetely closed, she fired on the control panel on their side of the door, permanently locking it.

Everyone gathered around their medic who was dying by the minute. One of the rookies had a tricorder monitoring their comrade's lifesigns. No one said a word. Pa'aleia had began scanning the infrastructure they were in, ignoring the emotional situation. Then, what everyone feared had happened, the medic died, the beeping from the tricorder verifying the assumption.

Jacobson: "Let it be known that at this time and date, Lieutenant Johnson is no longer a living member of MACO. May she rest in peace."

There was a silence as the tricorder was folded up. Everyone but the Major said a quiet prayer to themselves. After Pa'aleia allowed a minute or two to pass, she interjected.

Pa'aleia: "Come on, we still have a mission to complete. I've scanned the structure. The power source is multiple levels deep. Sergeant, take the two rookies and take the lower level. Setup some proton charges and set them to the ship's weapon modulation frequency. Private McKinley and myself will go to the higher level, lower the protective shield around the power source and secure an exit for the team. Understood?"

Everyone nodded and they split off into their groups. Pa'aleia and McKinley went right as Jacobson and the rookies went left down the stairs.

After about half an hour, the group had regrouped at the designated location where a hangar was. Jacobson then did a headcount, noticing that McKinley was gone.

Jacobson: "Major, where's McKinley?"

The Major did her best to try and convey Human sympathy, but it was very evident she didn't truly feel it. Her Vulcan tone still played recognizable tone to everyone.

Pa'aleia: "Some of the Klingons got to him. I stayed as long as I could, but the Klingons kept coming. He had to be left behind."

Jacobson swore to himself. Soon, more disruptor shots were fired at the MACO team. They soldiers wasted no time in climbing into one of the Toron-class Klingon shuttles. In the pilot seat was Pa'aleia. She quickly adapted to the controls and soon was airborne. The hangar doors had began to open, but were soon overrode and shut. Pa'aleia then fired at the hangar bay doors, blasting them open. She then piloted out of the base.

In the comm seat was Jacobson. He was attempting to hail the USS Heart of the Aenar.

Meanwhile:

Back in orbit, the USS Heart of the Aenar was picking up static until Jacobson's voice soon broke the emptiness.

Jacobson: "USS Hear... of... Aenar... if... ca... ar... this... det... charges..."

Before they could respond, three Klingon Bird-of-Preys and a Negh'var Battleship de-cloaked.

th'Zarath: "Red Alert! Battle Formation Delta-Two!"

The Odyssey-class ship moved forward towards the enemy fleet. The two science ships closed in behind the HotA.

th'Zarath: "Fire at Will, Ensign!"

The USS Heart of the Aenar took multiple fire assaults from the Klingon ships, but the shields were holding. The Heart of the Aenar charged forward and passed between all three ships, firing phasers as it did at all three ships. As it cleared, the Starfleet battleship fired Quantum Torpedoes at the three ships, destroying one of the BoPs.

The shockwave from the first BoP disabled the power systems of the second BoP. The Starfleet ships were watching as the Klingon ship went dark and began drifting. The two science ships followed up, firing on the Negh'var, firing all they could muster. The Klingon ship returned fire on the USS London, blowing one of the nacelles. It too, was now disabled.

The USS Crete and Heart of the Aenar formed up. The Crete, an Intrepid-class like Voyager was, had gotten close enough to the Odyssey-class that they began sharing shields. The helmsman of each ship were coordinating with each other to ensure a synchronous flight pattern. When they approached the Negh'var, they swooped up, revealing their ventral side, firing anything that could damage the Klingon battleship.

The shields appeared faltered, and the two Federation ships formed up for one final pass. As if out of nowhere, the Toron-shuttle appeared into orbit and was beelining straight towards the Heart of the Aenar. Behind the shuttle were three Bird of Preys.

th'Zarath: "Transporter room, lock onto the shuttle and beam it aboard now!"

The Bird-of-Preys continued firing on the shuttle, followed by the Klingon battleship firing multiple torpedoes at it too. The shuttle then teleported away just in time to allow the torpedoes to pass through, damagin one of the pursuit ships.

Wasting no time, th'Zarath ordered the USS Crete and his ship to retreat to Starbase 97. The two ships broke off their attack pattern, adjusted course and warped

The USS Heart of the Aenar and the USS London warp into the Omicron Geminorum system. In orbit of Omicron Geminorum III was Starbase 97. th'Zarath was sitting in his command chair. As the two ships closed in on the starbase, everything appeared normal. Freighters, cargo ships, and merchants were coming and going between the starbase with the large gas giant behind it.

At the Ops station, the officer was already requesting docking permissions. The two ships proceeded along at full impulse, eventually passing through the security grid. A few moments had passed and there was a confirmation.

th'Zarath: "Take us in. Standard procedure."

The Heart of the Aenar continued closer. When they reached orbital distance of the starbase, the large Odyssey-class cruiser began docking. When all was said and done, th'Zarath turned to his XO.

th'Zarath: "I want standard replenishment. Get them to repair anything that can be done in a few hours. I want to be 'seaworthy' as soon as possible. Also, get us resupplied. I'm going to meet with the Administrator here and inform them about what happened and we will go from there."

th'Zarath then dismissed himself and walked up to the bridge's transporter pad. When he was ready, he signalled his Ops officer to activate the beaming sequence. When the sequence was complete, th'Zarath was on the Starbase's transporter pad. He looked to the operator who was saluting at th'Zarath.

He then left the room and walked quickly to the Admiral's office. He requested permission to enter and was greeted by a Bajoran woman. The woman had put down and PADD and got up to greet th'Zarath, shaking his hand.

Tarel: "Word was sent that a Fleet Admiral had arrived with a ship design unfamiliar to my officers. Welcome Sir."

The woman's brown flowing hair whisked outwards as she turned to return to her desk.

Tarel: "What can I do for you?"

th'Zarath sat down at the other side where the guest in the room usually sits. He the proceeded to explain everything that happened.

th'Zarath: "Admiral, I am going to be requesting more ships to be stationed along this area of the sector. As I am sure you have been informed, I came in with the USS Crete as well. I lost a third ship out in orbit of a nearby planet. The Science Council had asked for an initial study to be conducted and we found a Klingon base cloaked on the surface.

In addition, they were using Romulan software on their computers and data. I have reason that they may be planning an attack here at the starbase. You are the only Federation outpost in the sector, which makes you a very high priority target."

Admiral Tarel was not pleased by the news.

Tarel: "If the Klingons are using Romulan tech, that means that conflict has been engaged between the two. And for using it, they may be trying to upgrade or hybridize their own tech. This makes them a very serious threat. I trust you will be staying for awhile, Sir?"

Tarel's look seemed to show a sort of grim expression. th'Zarath shook his head.

th'Zarath: "No, I plan on taking a few ships and we are going to return to the Klingon planet. I will try to lower their attack strength and help alleviate the threat here. I will leave you with some of my best MACO soldiers, including Major Pa'aleia. If the Klingons do manage to attack, you'll have some of the best soldiers in the sector defending the starbase."

After th'Zarath finished talking, he stood up. Tarel's face was still solemn and grim.

th'Zarath: "Relax, Alenis, I promise you we will get through this. I'll stick around long enough until other ships arrive."

A smile cracked the depressing look of the starbase's admiral.

Tarel: "Thank you, Sir. I will start preparing for the attack."

The two walked out of the office separating paths. th'Zarath returned to the transporter room where he beamed back aboard to the USS Heart of the Aenar. Not much time had passed and his XO was still monitoring and supervising shipboard tasks. th'Zarath ignored everything and went into his ready room. He turned on the terminal.

th'Zarath: "Computer, begin recording message."

There was a moment until a familiar chime sounded.

th'Zarath: "This is Fleet Admiral th'Zarath to all Starfleet vessels. As of this moment, all able ships are to report to Starbase 97 until further notice. When you arrive, you are to then report to me and I will re-deploy you. th'Zarath out.

Computer, send that message on all Starfleet channels and loop."

A chime sounded again with a woman's voice confirming the message's sending.

th'Zarath then pressed his commbadge.

th'Zarath: "Admiral th'Zarath to Major Pa'aleia, please report to my ready room."

A voice then replied through the commbadge.

Pa'aleia: "Yes Sir, Pa'aleia out."

th'Zarath sat in his chair awaiting for Pa'aleia's arrival.

After a few minutes, Pa'aleia entered th'Zarath's ready room.

Pa'aleia: "Sir."

The Vulcan saluted her Commanding Officer, the Fleet Admiral.

th'Zarath: "Major, I have a new assignment for you. As of now, you are getting a field promotion to MACO General. You will be in charge of all of the MACO units on Starbase 97. I have reason to believe that after the discovery of the Klingon base on Brisa VII, that they will be retaliating against the starbase before too long. I want my best there to help repel any Klingon invaders.

Your assignment is to gather the best of your soldiers and redeploy to Starbase 97. You will then report to Admiral Tarel for station duties. In addition, I don't want you to take all of your best. Leave Sergeant Jacobson a few good soldiers too to protect the ship. Understood?"

Pa'aleia: "Yes Sir, we will be ready within the hour. Is there anything else, Admiral?"

th'Zarath: "No, General, you are dismissed."

Pa'aleia left th'Zarath's ready room and proceeded to fulfill her new assignment.

David Black
[SHEET]Name: David Black

Age: 43

Species: Genetically Enhanced Human

Gender: Male

Class: Senior Section 31 Operative

Rank: Impersonating a Starfleet Commander - Actually a Section 31 Field Operative.

Affiliation: United Federation of Planets

Ship Name and Class: USS Melting Clock - Wells Class Timeship - Use of 25th century holo emitters allows this ship to be disguised as a Sovereign Class Cruiser.

Backstory: David Black was born in the year 2801. His parents were both career Starfleet Science Officers, both of which were prominent and well known for their high-achievements and excellent service to the Federation Science Corps. David's parents, because of their life-long service to The Federation, expected David to serve The Federation in the very same way that they did. David, much like his parents, was a high achiever throughout his educational carrer. He had proven time and again that he was very capable of handling the vigours of scientifc endeavours. However, when he joined Starfleet Academy, he discovered his intense dislike of the Sciences, and found himself to be more interested in the military aspect of Starfleet. As he became more aware of the interstellar conflicts that The Federation was in with The Romulans, David felt it was his responsibility to protect the Federation with a Phaser, and not a Hypospray. As a result of this, David's attention to the more scientific aspects of his academy days dwindled. Coincidenatlly, the number of hours he logged in the Kobayashi Maru simulation, as well as other tactical simulations, could of accounted for 1/3rd of the time he spent at the Academy. David, as a result, did not graduate at the top of his class, but rather, as an average achiever. This caused a great disappointment in his parents, who never allowed David to live it down. As David progressed through his career as a tactical officer, he often saw the front lines of the war that The Federation had been raging with The Romulans. At the age of 31, after many successful military operations against The Romulans, David learned that a Romulan strike force, that had been posing as a Vulcan team of scientists, had managed to assassinate both The President of Starfleet, and the senior brass of Starfleet Command in a single swift military operation. It was after this, that David realized that even after his many personal successes, that his efforts were insufficient. It was at this time that David, going against the very laws and regulations that The Federation had in place, used his accumulated shore leave to seek out an illegal Ferengi Black Market research facility to undergo genetic modification. It was David's hope that with enhanced intelligence, reflexes, and sensory acuity, that he could better fight The Romulan threat, and protect The Federation from any further attacks that hit so close to home. It was not long after that David had undergone successful Genetic Modifications, which allowed him to think faster, act faster, improve his sensory acuity, and vastly improve his intelligence. However, his genetic modifications did not go unseen, as David's actions had been noted by Section 31. It was not long after returning to duty that Section 31, under the guise of The Department of Internal Affairs, arrested David, and took him into custody for questioning. Upon his arrest, and detention on what he thought was a ship under the command of Internal Affairs officers, Section 31 operatives revealed themselves to David, and offered him a simple choice; work for Section 31, or spend the rest of his life in a maximum security prison. David chose the former option, and started his career with Section 31. David has since then worked for Section 31 as one of their top field operatives. His work with Section 31 was among the finest work that had ever been seen by the rouge organization, and, as a result, led David to a position of great prestige and excellence in Section 31. David's most recent assignment was the theft of a Wells Class Timeship, for use by Section 31 operatives to try and end the Romulan threat to the Federation once and for all.

S'kaelz
[SHEET]Name: S'kaelz - Known as "Scales" by Starfleet Intelligence.

Age: 39

Species: Gorn

Gender: Male

Class: KDF Marauder Rank: Lieutenant General of the KDF

Affiliation: Klingon Defense Force

Ship Name and Class: IKS Ven'tek Brotasqu' Tactical Cruiser

Phyiscal description: Pale Grey scales and skin. 8 feet tall, heavy build.

Backstory: S'kaelz was born in 2373, as a direct relative to the Gorn Hegemony's royal family. While S'kaelz was never directly in line for the throne, or any position of power in the royal family, he was recognized as a noble and, as such, was greatly respected. As a result of his position in society, S'kaelz was expected to join the armed forces of the Gorn Hegemony. Much of S'kaelz military career was compulsory and very run of the mill, right up until 2389, when the hostilities between the Klingon Empire and Gorn Hegemony had erupted. It was during the course of the 14 year war between these two powers did S'kaelz demonstrate his exceptional command and leadership abilities. On multiple occasions, S'kaelz had managed to best some of the best and most talented ship captains in the KDF, and, on one occasion, defeat a Klingon General in one-on-one ship combat. It was as a result of these victories that S'kaelz became widely known for his victories among his own people, and his cunning and insurmountable combat effectiveness and fearlessness in the Klingon Empire. It was because of his prowess that ensured his future in the KDF was secure. In 2403, when the war with the KDF and Gorn hegemony had ended with victory for the KDF, S'kaelz was invited by the Klingon High Council to bring his unique and effective style of command and combat to the services of the KDF. S'kaelz, being a natural warrior, accepted the offer, in the hopes of showing, by example, the entire Empire that the Gorn were more than willing to give their all in service to the KDF. In 2405, with the war with the Federation going into full gear, S'kaelz was bestowed the title of Marauder, promoted to Lieutenant General, and provided access to a Brotasqu Tactical cruiser in the hope that he would use his exceptional command abilities to crippled Federation supply lines. As the war raged on, S'kaelz spent most of his time behind enemy lines, using his ship's cloaking ability to hit and run on poorly defended supply ships and trade freighters, siezing anything that was of value, returning it to the Empire, and making a small fortune on the side in gold-pressed latinum by selling captured prisoners to the Orion Syndicate. Using this small fortune, S'kaelz had managed to retrofit his ship with Antiproton based weaponry. Currently, as of 2412, S'kaelz is considered by the KDF to be a valuable asset, and a champion of the Empire, as well as being considered a high profile threat and danger by the Federation. Intelligence gathered by Starfleet intelligence on S'kaelz is considered to be very accurate and quite vast.

Stardate 521878.9 - November 17, 2844, Time: 16:15:27. Jupiter Station Fleet Yards

A Section 31 Operative was moving through the corridors of the Jupiter Station main body, heading towards the command deck. THis officer was moving slowly, avoiding firefights that were taking place between Starfleet Officers and Reman and Romulan invasion forces.

The Section 31 Operative contacted his fellow Section 31 Operatives..

David: This is Commander Black...team two, do you copy?

Another Section 31 Operative began to speak.

Section 31 Operative: This is Lieutenant Lahey.

David: What is your status?

Section 31 Operative: We are currently en-route to the Timeship Melting Clock. We are closing in on the airlock access corrdior now. Have you been able to release the tractor beams yet?

David: Negative...I have yet to reach the command deck. I have encountered heavy Federation and Romulan forces in the corridors, and significant damage in the corridors. I am delayed.

Section 31 Operative: Do you need help sir?

David: NEgative. Continue as you were. Once you get to the Melting Clock, sweep the ship...and make sure that there are no Temporal Integrity Commission officers on board. If there are, stun them, and beam them to the nearest Federation Ship. After that, get that ship back online. We are going to need the Chrono-Deflector fully charge and operational if we are going to make this jump. We will also need shields and weapons. With the Romulans closing in, getting clear of Jupiter's gravity well will be difficult. We must clear the gravity well if we are going to make a successful temporal incursion to our targeted place and time.

Section 31 Officer: Aye sir. Lahey out.

David continued to move, evading skirmishes where possible. However, as he got closer and closer to the command deck, he saw fewer and fewer Romulans and Remans, and more and more Starfleet security officers. David was able to evade most of the patrols, however, when he had finally got to the main corridor which led to the command deck, he found that there was no way past. David knew that he would be forced to fire on Starfleet officers.

David drew his Phaser Pistol, and set it to a split-beam stun setting. As soon as he turned the corner, he fired his Phaser Pistol, and stunned the three security guards outside the door in a single shot.

David walked towards the door leading to the command deck, and he proceeded to walk through. David walked onto the command deck, and was met with about a dozen security officers, several command officers, and a few crewman. David wasted no time in turning his Phaser pistol on the nearest security guards, and firing. His Phaser Pistol, once again, split into three beams, and hit three of the security guards. As the three security guards went down, David took immediate evasive action, and took cover behind a console. He knew that he had alerted the command deck crew to what was happening. He could hear the security officers regrouping, but he was not prepared to allow uncommissioned security guards stop him from completing his mission.

David popped up from cover, and once again fire the split beam setting on his Phaser Pistol, taking down three more of the security guards. However, David was once again forced into cover as he came under Phaser fire.

Starfleet Security Guard: He is behind the Ops console! Don't let him escape!

David could hear the security guards clsoing in on him. He knew that at any second, he was about to be flanked. He had no choice, but to emerg from cover. David bolted out, and fired his Phaser Pistol again, taking down another three security guards. David ran across the command deck, and jumped behind the cover of a weapons crate as Phaser fire nearly grazed him.

The moment David landed, however, he emerged from cover again, and fired, taking down the last three security guards. This left only a few command officers and a few crewmembers who were either far too busy at their stations, or abandoning their stations and drawing their weapons.

David set his Phaser Pistol back to single beam, as the crewmen and officers who were now coming at him were far too spread out to be hit by a split beam. David emerged from cover, and ran across the command deck, as he fired his Phaser Pistol, hitting the nearest crewman. David dodged the Phaser blasts from the last of the command deck crew, taking them down one by one. It was only a few moments until David was the last man standing on the deck, with the rest of the Starfleet officers stunned.

The first thing David did was walk to one of the Operations consoles, and locked a transporter beam onto all of the Officers he stunned, and he beamed them aboard the nearest Federation ship.

David then walked to the primary tactical station, and accessed the station's Shipyard controls. He could see that the Timeship Melting Clock was still in drydock, being held in place by Tractor Beams. One by one, David started to deactivate the tractor beams. The moment the last tractor beam went offline, David was contacted.

Section 31 Officer: Commander Black, this is Lieutenant Lahey. The tractor beams are offline.

David: I just finished taking them offline.

Section 31 Operative: Good timing sir. We just finished getting the ship prepped and ready to go. The Chrono Deflector is currently charging, sitting at 63% as of this moment. Shields are up, and weapons are online. However, we are having trouble activiating the Emergancy Holographic Replacement Crew. That system appears to require a level 10 Authorization to initialize. I decided to wait for you to arrive before we brought them online.

David: Well, we should not wait any longer. Lock onto my signal, and beam me directly to the bridge of the Melting Clock.

Section 31 Operative: Stand by...

David waited a moment. Before he knew it, he found himself beaming directly to the bridge of the Melting Clock. In less than a moment, David looked around the bridge, and immediately took his place in the Captains Chair.

David: Helm...take us out...full impulse. Take us 50 million Kilometers from Jupiter. That should be far enough for us to easily compensate for any gravitational wells being created by the planet. Begin making the calculations for a temporal incursion.

Section 31 Operative: Sir...if I may ask...where are we going? You have been very quiet about that.

David: For security reasons Lieutenant. However, I guess now is as good as any to fill you in. We are going back to the early 25th century...Stardate 89507.8. We are going there for one reason, and one reason alone; Section 31 believes that it is possible, from anytime past that point in time, that we could cause a serious temporal incursion that would undo the events of The Federation's war with the Romulan Empire. We all know where The Federation stands in this war. We all know the consequences of inaction on our part. We all know that in a matter of days. the Federation will no longer exist...and that is CATEGORICALLY because of the Romulan Star Empire. Our mission is to protect The Federation at all costs, by any means necessary.

David paused.

David: Shields up! Begin calculations for Time frame Stardate 89507.8. Alpha Quadrent. Spacial Coordinates 44 Beta Prime by 633 Omega. Target - Donatu Sector Neutral Zone.

David paused again.

David: Once we are clear...confirm temporal incursion, and engage!

As the Timeship Melting Clock moved away from Jupiter, moving past the 49 million km mark, they detected a massive power build up from an unknown source.

Section 31 Operative: Sir...I am detecting a massive energy reading...

The Operative paused.

Section 31 Operative: Reman Dreadnaught...off the port bow! They are charging weapons!

The Reman Dreadnaught fired a salvo of disruptors, impacting the Melting Clock.

Section 31 Operative: SIr...they are targeting our auxillary systems! Without our Auxillary systems, we will be unable to fully charge the Chrono-Deflector!

David: Evasive pattern Omega-3...load all forward Chroniton Torpedos and fire!

The Melting Clock fired several Torpedos, but the damage was light.

Section 31 Operative: Minimal damage to the Dreadnaughts forward weapons. They are coming about.

David: Target their engines...aft Chroniton Beams. Fire at will!

The Melting Clock came about once again, speeding past The Dreadnaught, and fired several Chroniton Beams at the Dreadnaughts engines. Once again, the damage was light.

Section 31 Operative: Minimal Damage. Sir...the ablative armor of that Dreadnaught is in a state of temporal flux that seems to be adapting to the temporal flux of our own weapons.

David: Rotate temporal harmonics and resume firing. Keep our weapons in a constant state of flux. Do not give that Dreadnaught any time to adapt.

Once more, The Melting Clock fired, but this time, did a lot more damage to the Dreadnaught.

Section 31 Operative: Direct hit on the Dreadnaught.

Almost immediately, the Dreadnaught returned fire, hitting the Melting Clock.

Section 31 Operative: Direct hit...aft shields are down to 72 percent. Our transwarp field is fluctuating, and the Chrono-Deflector is loosing power.

David: Emergency power to engines...get some distance between us and that Dreadnaught. Divert all non-essential power to the Chrono-Deflector.

The Melting Clock sped away at best speeds, but The Dreadnaught was giving chase.

Section 31 Operative: Sir...they are right behind us.

Once again, The Melting Clock was hit.

Section 31 Operative: Direct hit...we have damage to the Chrono-Deflector! We are losing power! The Chrono-Deflector is at 93% and dropping!

David: Take Weapons offline...divert everything we have to the Chrono-Deflector.

Section 31 Operative: 98%

The Melting Clock was hit again.

Section 31 Operative: Sir...one more hit and we are going to lose the Chrono-Deflector!

David: Disable life support on all non-essentuial decks, and dump it right into the Chrono-Deflector! Open the impulse injectors to 130% We need distance...now!

The Melting Clock got a massive burst of speed, as it got out of weapons range.

Section 31 Operative: Sir...the deflector is at 100%

David: Fire the Chrono-Deflector! Open a rupture now!

The Melting Clock's Chrono-Deflector fireo a single, powerful pulse, and created a temporal Vortex in front of the ship, big enough for The Melting Clock to barely fit through. It was imperative that The Melting Clock thread the needle, in order to enter the temporal singularity.

Section 31 Operative: Entering the Temporal singularity in...10...9...8...7...6...

The Reman Dreadnaught, which was still giving chase, fired a full salvo of Torpedos, totally blind, at the Melting Clock.

Section 31 Operative: 5...4...3...2...1...

The Melting Clock entered the temporal singularity. As soon as the ship passed the threshold, the singularity closed. Seconds after the singularity closed, the torpedos that were fired by the Dreadnaught flew past, missing the entry of the singularity by seconds.

th'Zarath: "Admiral's Log Supplemental - Stardate 89508.1: "I have assembled a strike fleet to retaliate and capture Brisa VII. We are going to assault the main Klingon Defense Fleet in the system. I have also given Major Pa'aleia a temporary field promotion to be the Field Commander of all MACO operations on Starbase 97. In her care, I have no doubts the Starbase will last for our return. In the meantime, the fleet is preparing for the inevitable conflict at Brisa VII."

A voice interrupted th'Zarath.

sh'Kori: "Admiral, we're approaching the Brisa system."

th'Zarath looked out the nearby window and watched the space dust particles 'vanish' as the ship's speed dropped subtly.

th'Zarath: "I'll be right there, Commander."

th'Zarath walked out of his ready room and to his chair on the bridge.

th'Zarath: "What's our status, Mr. Dickerson?"

The Human stationed at the Ops console began reading off the scans they made.

Dickerson: "Sir, there is only one Negh'var and five Bird of Preys in orbit of Brisa VII. They have the same transponder IFFs as the previous ships we encountered a few hours ago. There is no evidence of any other activity in the system."

th'Zarath: "This is Fleet Admiral th'Zarath of the Federation. You are outnumbered 2:1 in fleet size and firepower. I suggest that you leave this system or be destroyed."

th'Zarath turned to Dickerson who shook his head saying that the Klingons were not responding. The KDF battlegroup was surrounding what was left of the USS Crete.

sh'Kori: "Scan for lifeforms. Is anyone still alive on the Crete?"

A few noises kept the bridge bustling with any kind of sound to break the ominous silence. After a couple minutes, Dickerson finally answered.

Dickerson: "There's still several pockets of resistance on-board the Crete. Internal systems are either disabled or damaged. Life support is stable on the decks still with occupants, however, the ship is too far gone. Emergency power is reported to be failing and internal comm systems are jammed. I can't get a lock on anyone either."

th'Zarath winced at the options laid out before him, attempt a rescue of the USS Crete's survivors or not. Before there was time to decide, the Klingons began firing on the Crete. After several well placed photon torpedoes, the Crete exploded. The Klingons then broke off from the new debris field to engage th'Zarath's fleet.

Meanwhile:

Back at Starbase 97, the remaining assembled Federation fleet kept a patrol around the inner security perimeters of the starbase. On the station, MACO troops were still preparing for any boarding parties. Pa'aleia was cooridinating all of the soldiers to ensure the safety of the higher officials of the starbase and its critical systems.

She sat in her command center overseeing everything on the station, section by section. As she was preparing the Federation fleet came into sight of the window. It passed by slowly from one side to the other. Before the fleet reached the other side of the small window, a dozen Klingon warships decloaked, firing weapons at the Federation. Some of the lower class starships blew up from the sneak attack. The Federation returned fire, and with the help of Starbase 97, the Klingons were being kept at bay.

It wasn't long until the Klingons had a second fleet decloak close to Starbase 97. The weapons of the Starbase were still firing at the distraction that by the time the operators could react, they took heavy damage from the first bombardment of the second fleet. With the Starbase protecting itself, the Federation fleet was soon overwhelmed by the Klingon warships.

It didn't take long until the first Klingon Fleet punched through the Federation's defenses. Klingons, Gorn, Orions and Nausicaans began to rapidly flood the starbase. The MACO troops were ready and funneled the available transporter locations into crossfires. The MACO fireteams were managing to hold the line against the KDF invaders.

In the Admiral's office, Tarel was attempting to send out a distress call to th'Zareth and his fleet.

Meanwhile back over Brisa VII:

Dickerson: "Sir, we are receiving a distress signal from Starbase 97. The signal is weak."

th'Zareth: "Well, what are you waiting for? Put it up."

The screen was barely showing an image. Both the audio and video was fighting lots of static. Tarel was barely distinguishable.

th'Zareth: "Try cleaning that up, Mr. Dickerson.

The image and audio cleaned up a little better, but there was still a lot of static.

Tarel: "Admir... ...rba.... ..7 is un... tck by Klin...s... Ple.... ...lp!"

The signal began to repeat itself.

th'Zareth: "Signal the fleet and bring us about back to Starbase 97. Have the fleet warp together."

Back on Starbase 97:

The MACO soldiers were still holding the line and the defense turrets that were set up were extra helpful. As another wave of Klingon soldiers beamed in, the Federation's defense turrets changed targets and began firing on the Federation soldiers. The lines were broken and the starbase's capture was inevitable.

Pa'aleia was doing her best trying to override the lockout and command hijack, but with no luck. She got up to go and help hold the second defense line. It wasn't until an explosion was heard where the Admiral's office was. Pa'aleia was curious about what just happened.

Pa'aleia: "Stay here and hold the line! Do NOT let them pass!"

Pa'aleia began running towards the Admiral's office, dodging skirmishes between the Klingons and MACO soldiers. When she arrived to where the Admiral's office was, she was greeted with a forcefield. Pa'aleia looked through barrier and saw the second KDF ships staring back at her. Pa'aleia ran back to a Jeffery's tube. She didn't need to be told to get off of the deck. Another explosion rocked the nearby area, the Klingon ships were still firing on the Admiral's office, or spot where it was.

Pa'aleia met up with the remaining MACO soldiers who were still incredibly holding the line. Pa'aleia began firing at the invaders quietly praying for a miracle.

Meanwhile:

The Timeship Melting Clock emerged from it's temporal vortex, and returned to normal space. The Timeship melting clocked emerged into a region of space where two large starships were currently engaging fire with each other. A Federation Sovereign Cruiser known as The USS Victoria, and a KDF Brotasqu Dreadnought known as the IKS Ven'tek. The two ships were activly exchanging fire, with neither ship backing down.

S'kaelz: Damage report!?

KDF Tactical Officer: The Federation ship is continuing to target out forward shields. Their shields are holding at 49%.

S'kaelz: Rotate shields...target the weaons systems on that Federation cruiser. Re-modulate our weapons on a rotating frequency and attempt to isolate a frequency to allow increased shield penetration of our weapons!

KDF Tactical officer: Rotating weapon modulation.

The Ven'tek shook hard as it was hit by a spread of torpedos.

KDF Ops Officer: We have sustained a direct hit to our port shields. Port shields down to 71%

S'kaelz: Resume firing. Keep us within 10 Km of the Federation cruiser. Continue to target their weapons.

KDF Tactical Officer: Sir...I believe I have found a weapon modulation that will allow us to directly pierce their shields. I believe I may have isolated their shield modulation. Where would you like me to target?

S'kaelz: Target a single beam array, at full power, on their warp core. If we can offline their main power, or even cripple their warp drive...we might be able to turn a small fortune with the Orion syndicate in the amount of Federation "slaves" we could provide. I could always use an upgrade to our axillary Anti-proton regulators...

The Ven'tek fired a full power beam at the warp core of the USS Victoria. The beam pushed right through their shields, and scored a direct hit on the warp core of the USS Victoria. As soon as this hit was landed, the Victoria lost power to its shields and weapons.

KDF Tactical Officer: Enemy shields and weapons are offline!

S'kaelz: Begin transporting as many officers and crew members off that ship. Beam them directly to the large holding cells on deck 22. Have security teams ready to stun every officer as they beam in.

KDF Ops Officer: SIr...we must hurry...that last shot cause heavy damage to the warp core of the Federation ship. I am estimating a warp core explosion in less than one minute!

S'kaelz: Plot a course for Federation Starbase 97...and engage on my mark!

Concurrently:

Section 31 Operative: Sir...we have returned to normal space. Temporal shields are at 21%. Chroniton weapons are offline. The Chrono-deflector is heavily damaged. I recommend we take it offline pending repairs.

David: With the Chrono-deflector offline...we won't be able to make temporal jumps.

Section 31 Operative: Sir...with the Chrono-deflector damaged, and online, any attempt to make a temporal jump with a ship this size, at this point, could cause a temporal explosion capable of nearly destroying this entire sector and causing irreparable damage to subspace.

David: I am aware of that...ensign!

David sighed.

David: Take the Chrono-deflector offline, and begin immediate repairs.

Section 31 Operative: Aye sir...

As the Section 31 Operative carried out his orders, another officer spoke up.

Section 31 Ops Officer: Sir...I think you might want to see this...

The Ops officer activated the view screen. There were two ships currently engaged in battle. One of these ships was a Sovereign class Cruiser. The other ship was a KDF Brotasqu Dreadnought.

Section 31 Ops Officer: We dropped into normal space in the middle of a battle ground.

David: Scan for other ships!

Section 31 Ops Officer: Those are the only two out there!

David: Identify those ships! Give me readouts on their incursion factors!

Section 31 Ops Officer: Federation Starship identified as the USS Victoria. Incursion fact - moderate. Commanding Officer - Rear-Admiral Scott Landon. KDF Starship identified as the IKS Ven'tek. Incusrion factor - critical. Commanding Officer - Lieutenant General S'kaelz. Sir...neither of these ships carry a low incursion factor.

David: Explain!

Section 31 Ops Officer: According to our records, the battle between these two ships ended in a stalemate. From what could be determined, the IKS Ven'tek was en-route to partake in an attack on Starbase 97 that is, according to this, currently going on. However, as a result of the efforts of Rear-Admiral Landon, and the USS Victoria, the Ven'tek was never able to make it to the battle. As a result, Starbase 97 was able to repel the Klingon attack by exploiting the absence of the Dreadnought.

David: So...then we do not interfere in this.

Section 31 Ops Officer: I do not believe that is an option sir.

David: Why?

Section 31 Ops Officer: According to these readings...the USS Victoria's warp core is going critical. There is a warp core breach immanent. They sustained a direct hit from the Ven'tek that pierced right through the shields, and sustained heavy damaged their Warp Core.

David: How is that possible?

Section 31 Ops Officer: Sir...I believe it is our fault. I am detecting a massive build-up of Chronitons inside of their warp-reaction chamber. Our arrival may of caused this. Our Chrono-deflector must of been leaking Chronitons, and those Chronitons must of permeated the warp core of the Victoria. This may of destabilized the shields on the Victoria just enough to allow a directed beam, at the correct modulation, and of sufficient power, to pass right through the shields.

David: Why was that Klingon ship not affected?

Section 31 Ops Officer: I am not sure. However, it may have something to do with the energy signature I am getting from that ship. Their power levels do not conform to standard Klingon levels of this era. In fact, their weapon levels are significantly higher than what we have expected. There must be some combination of configurations on that ship that has prevented any adverse affects. It could very well be the Anti-pronton regulators on the ship that could be sufficiantly neutralizing the charge of the Chroniton particles...but that is purely speculative. Antiproton weaponry is very unstable.

David: Our own Chroniton weaponry, espeically our directed energy beams, is derived from Anti-proton based weaponry. The Chronitons that leaked from our deflector didn't have adverse effects...it had a bolstering effect. We may of inadvertently provided a very temporary power increase to the Ven'tek...which would explain how they are now able to overpower the Victoria.

Section 31 Ops Officer: Sir...the Ven'tek has gone to warp. They plotted a course for Starbase 97, and they engaged at warp 9.975. They are gone. The USS Victoria is going critical. I suggest we move away to a safe distance.

David: Back us away!

The USS Melting Clock moved away at full impulse. They managed to put a great deal of distance between themselves, and the Victoria, before it went critical.

Section 31 Ops Officer: The Victoria is gone sir. It has been destroyed. No escape pods...no survivors...at least not here.

David: What is the ETA of that Klingon ship to Starbase 97?

Section 31 Ops Officer: 33 minutes.

David sighed.

David: Damn it. This was not supposed to happen. This is terribly wrong...
