[Halo] New! Halo RPG Pt. 11

[Naked Crook]

Hayes was on the bridge. He was receiving the dossiers on the new recruits. He was shifting through when he saw one name that stuck out. JAMES TURNER Hayes: Well well...the King Raven gets one of the "new guys" HAWK: Who? Hayes: James Turner... HAWK was silent for a moment. HAWK: Turner, James...Second Lieutenant...former leader of the newly discovered Aurigae VI colony. He has past military experience which qualified him as an officer. ONI Psychologists have noted the following character traits... Hayes: HAWK...I don't need EVERYTHING on him. Save it for now... HAWK: What? Hayes: Later...we can discuss it later... HAWK: Very well. If you need me...just call me. 51 of my cores will be devoted to monitoring comm traffic for anything relating to the Trust. Hayes: Cores? HAWK: Processing time... Hayes rolled his eyes. He decided he wanted to speak with James...so he he summon James to the bridge. Hayes: Lt. Turner...report to the bridge...

[Kairu]

James heard his name paged and sighed for both relief and anxiety. The bridge, huh? I must have either screwed up already or I'm going to be given assignment already. James did as the page said and reached the bridge. He walked on kinda poking around. He was quickly surveying the surroundings to see if anyone recognizable stuck out, with no luck.

[Naked Crook]

Hayes stood up when he saw James enter the bridge. Hayes: Lt. Turner! Hayes paused. He extended his hand to shake James' hand. Hayes: Welcome to the King Raven...

[Kairu]

James took the man's hand. "Thank you, Sir. I like it. I know it's not much different for interior design compared to the facility, but the atmosphere sure is difference."

[Naked Crook]

Hayes: Well...ONI specializes is weapons and fighting...not interior decorating...as I have come to learn. Hayes paused. Hayes: I am glad we could have you aboard. Your planet has become something of a...inspiration to the military.

[Kairu]

James laughed momentarily but became serious again when Hayes continued. "I beg your pardon, Sir, but how so?"

[Naked Crook]

Hayes: ONI Section 2...they deal with our..."news". They reveal the front line stuff to the civilian population. When they published the discovery of the Aurigae VI colony...the civilian population became very happy. When the civilians are happy, they spend more money. When they spend money, we collect more tax revenue. When we collect tax revenue, the military becomes stronger. When we become stronger, our soldiers feel safer. When our soldiers feel safer, they become more courageous. When they are more couragerous...they make discoveries like the Aurigae VI colony...and the cycle begins again. Hayes paused. Hayes: Do you understand now?

[Kairu]

James began to think and let the cycle sink in. "I think so, Sir. Well I'm glad that the colony has already proven to be successful to ONI operations and personnel."

[Naked Crook]

Hayes: Even if it did not have the massive effect it did...I am still glad we were able to secure your world from outside hostility. ONI has taken special care to be very discrete in the defense of your world. We still don't want to attract attention...but ONI has devoted ships to patrol and defend the system and the world respectively...utilizing the Stealth systems of course. Hayes paused. Hayes: If there is one thing we are good at...it is protecting the worlds under our banner.

[Kairu]

James couldn't help but be curious, "Are there any defense platforms or stations surrounding the colony? It's not that I don't trust ONI's protection, knowing what the colony does have helps satisfy my curiosity."
