Jade felt her heart beat against her chest, her body tense as she moved into position. Like a rat in a bag, her team was pinned several levels below the bridge of the ship. Deep breaths, Jade told herself, cursing as a bullet shot close by her. She ordered her team of ten to move back, away from the advancing gunfire. She couldn't afford to lose any of her teammates but she knew, with fear gripping her heart, that this would be wishful thinking. They were pinned near a corridor that lead to several marine quarters, being forced to press their backs closer and closer to the figurative and literal wall. Jade held her first SOCOM pistol as she forced herself around a corner, open firing on the enemy forces. Enemy forces that were once allies, once people she had shared a meal, a joke, a bond with. ODSTs open fired on ODSTs, weakening the already frail blood of the human military. Jade fired only what she needed to and retreated, ordering her team to move back. She prayed to whatever gods that existed to watch over her team, hoping help came sooner rather than later.
