Meanwhile:
Captain Frost was on the bridge of The King Raven. She was busy reviewing logistical information from ground teams on the latest casualties. He train of thought was interrupted when her comm officer spoke to her.
Comm Officer: Ma'am...we are getting a transmission...and you will never believe who it is from...
Jennifer: Who is it from?
Comm Officer: Our "friend"...Jacob Sharpmen.
Jennifer perked up in her chair, and she raised an eyebrow.
Jennifer: Let's hear it...
The comm officer nodded, as he played the transmission.
Jacob: This is Captain Jacob Sharpmen, ONI Identification number; Sierra-Juliet-Two-Two-Eight-Romeo-Two-Fiver-Zero-Six-Romeo. Broadcasting to ONI officials on board the King Raven.
There was an audible pause.
Jacob: I know what you guys are thinking...I know what's going through your heads, but please...just answer this.
Jennifer was silent for a moment, as she considered her options, and she considered what the angle could be.
Jennifer: Run that ID number. Confirm it!
The comm officer nodded. He ran the number. After a few moments, he turned to Jennifer, and nodded.
Comm Officer: Confirmed. That WAS Sharpmen's number...before we revoked it.
Jennifer: Run a voice pattern match.
The comm officer ran the test. After a moment, he nodded again.
Jennifer: Results?
Comm Officer: There is a match of 98.6%. That is well above the accuracy threshold. That has to be him.
Jennifer: Put it through a stress test analysis. Look for any abnormalities in his voice pattern.
The comm officer sighed, as he ran the test. After a few moments, the results came back.
Comm Officer: Stress test analysis shows a high probability that he is under some degree of duress.
Jennifer shook her head.
Jennifer: I don't like the sound of that.
Jennifer paused.
Jennifer: AFter what he pulled...he must think we are dumb to talk to him. This could very well be a trick. He has an angle, I can't see it, so we shut him down. Close the channel.
The comm officer turned to look at Jennifer.
Comm Officer: Ma'am...what if he is in trouble? What if there is no angle to this? What if he really wants to talk to us.
Jennifer shrugged.
Jennifer: He cut his comm lines when we tried to talk to him at ONI Installation Desert. Now we are cutting the comm lines with him. At the moment, we have everything we need; Hoffman, intel, and a surprise attack that they are not aware of. I cannot risk second guessing myself with potentially new intel from a traitor.
Jennifer paused.
Jennifer: Shut him down...that's an order.
The comm officer nodded, as he rejected the transmission.
