Creepin through FB, I cam across one of my freind's posts.
BTW he is a PC Gamer elitist... no lie !
I will quote him on the following...
" we've reached a point where the video game industry has finally become large enough to attract the attention of the fiscal big boys. The guys in suits who know nothing about video games, CARE nothing about video games, but are smart enough ...to realize that there are enough people out there with disposable income (whether their own our their parent's) that they can get away with crazy shit like this.
Over the past few years we've seen these schemes get more and more ridiculous as these suits figure out just far they can go before the consumers rebel. I have a feeling they're going to make a lot of money from even this.
Now the question is, should we people who actually have a passion for video games be concerned about this? Directly I think, No, we do not - there will always be the smaller developers and indie guys who aren't in it just for the money. But on a larger scale, it's these big suits who decide where the money REALLY goes. These are the people who are going to be sticking their fingers into the design of the next generation of consoles, the future producers who hire our favorite developers. And they will be in control.
The immediate future looks bleak."
What do you think?
I agree with the idea that large corporations can easily take over the gaming industry with crappy games. I also believe that the gaming community was built on hardcore gamers, and would never allow big buck companies take over their community.
then again, look at mainstream and family titles and consoles such as the Wii and all of those shitty movie games...
