In Between Dreams - Music Review Review by schectergitarrguyy TNO Registered User Artist: Jack Johnson Album: In Between Dreams Record Label: Brushfire Records This is a very different type of music than my last CD review. I may be a metalhead, but you gotta appreciate the slower, more laid-back stuff as well. The only genre I can think of to put Jack's music in is either Lite or Island Rock, because some of his songs have a kind of islandy feel. Lyrically, he writes about everything from just sleeping in on a rainy day, or how humans are clueless to the world and are lost in their own way, and everything in between. Guitar Style: It's mainly acoustic guitar throughout the whole album, but there is some electric. Some songs have an almost swung feel, others are just so melodic and happy sounding that you cant resist dancing. Sometimes he's incorporates an island feel, other times you can tell its more of a Rock feel. The Vocals pretty much follow the set style of the song, but he's a good singer. Guitar and vocals done by Jack Johnson. Guitar and Vocal Style Rating: 10/10 Bass Style: Its not always heard, but when it is its unmistakeable what it is. It's always got the same type of vibe as the guitar does, even if it's playing a completly different part. Bass done by Merlo Podlewski. Bass Style: 10/10 Drum Style: It's again the same style as guitar, but i like the drumming because Adam Topol does some damn good work on the drums and additional percussion such as bongos as well. Drum Style Rating: 10/10 Style Rating: 30/30 Tracklist: 1. Better Together This one's about better being with that special someone 10/10 2.Never Know It's about how we don't leave much to the imagination anymore, were just making other things better, and how we're clueless to the world 10/10 3. Banana Pancakes is about sleeping in and ignoring the world outside on a rainy day, oh, and making Banana Pancakes 10/10 3. Good People is about how there's no good people left in the world, and if there is they're hard to find 10/10 4. No Other Way I'm not sure what this song is about but I like it 9/10 5. Sitting Waiting Wishing this is a break-up song, i cant explain how really, but if you listen to the song you'll understand 10/10 6. Staple It Together is about a guy who shuts himself out from the world and is oblivious to everything but work i think 10/10 7. Situations I have no clue what this is about but its alright, not my favorite, but its OK 8/10 8. Crying Shame Is about, I'm not really sure what but I like it 10/10 9. If I Could once again im not really sure about this one 9/10 10. Breakdown is about how some poeple just want to slow down or stop everydaylife to just take a look at the world 10/10 11. Belle no clue 8/10 12. Do You Remember i think its a little recap of the years with his wife, but thats just my guess 10/10 13. Constellations not sure 9/10 Overall Track Rating: 124/130 Total: 38.5/40 (i did teh mathzorz)
