Battlefield 2: Bad Company Game Review

Introduction

It was a normal Friday night, Me, my Xbox, and my Mountain Dew. I remember this was the norm, and usually when I broke away from it, I ended up going back to it. What game am I talking about? Why Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 of course, but what good game doesn't have competition these days, am I right? Likewise, when I heard they were making Battlefield bad Company 2, I was more confused then I was exited.

The First game ended with the gang finding their gold and driving off into the sunset with it. How would it continue? I mean after all, they were AWOL to begin with, if they return to the army, are they going to have open arms?

Likewise, I had my Modern Warfare 2, and considering how not easy I am to break the norm. I thought of Bad Company 2, as a game trying to capitalize on the whole "Modern Warfare" Fad.

But little dd I know, competition is very healthy.

Buying the game

And yet again, I was mind freaked into buying a game, based solely on the launch trailer.

I swear, Launch trailers were made to drive me into a spiraling pit of boredom, until I buy said game, That and Pre-Order Bonus's.....and jet packs. Likewise I didn't buy this game the day it came out, I wanted to be smart with my money. I picked up the box on release day then I was like "no" I picked up the box the next day then I was like "Well....it looks good, reviews are decent....no." Come the third day I'm like "Holy shit! You know what? Fuck the norm, I want to blow shit up. So, walking back home from my local gamestop, I pop that sucker in and play. and hope that my investment wasn't a waste

Multi Player

So I do what I usually do with games like this, I pass on the single player and play the multiplayer first. And again, I know this was a foolish choice. But I'm going to be honest, I did the same with Modern Warfare 2, Gears Of War, Left 4 Dead, Even Army of Two, if you'd believe that.

Likewise, The multiplayer has 3 modes, Rush, Conquest, and Squad battles

Maps vary on the game mode, but all are very fun, and varied, from deserts to Hoth-esque bases. And, like Modern Warfare 2, You can create your class.

The similarities end there, and this is probably for the best.

There are 4 classes,

The assault class, which are the grunts with grenade launchers, I love playing as this class, You can supply ammo to your squad mates, and trust me, this is very helpful. Never have I been forced, to use my knife until I find more ammo, or pick up another kit.

Engineers, Their the anti vehicle/Pro Vehicle class, their as likely to repair your tank as they are to blow it sky high. Of course, While blowing shit up with this class is fun, There's something to killing someone with your repair tool that makes this class stand out.

Recon, The snipers, A very weak class in my opinion, the sniper rifles take so long to fire, and even then, it takes 2 shots to kill anyone, you'd have to be a lucky son of a gun to get a headshot. But like many other games, you get used to it, and sooner or later You'll be pullig off head shots like Nobody's business, it takes practice, that's all

And lastly, the medic. While the name may look self explanatory, The medic seems more like a gunner than anything else. Seriously, the medic uses an LMG, While it is an odd choice, they use Defib' units and med kits to help other classes,

But the multiplayer isn't without it's balance issues

It almost seems like a no-brainer to choose the Medic class over the assault class,

The LMG is so painfully accurate, and carries so much ammo, and the fact that you can heal yourself definitely outshines the assault class combat wise Just a small balance issue, but the assault class, is still a blast to play. Even with that one balance issue, there's one thing, that definitely makes this stand out over Modern Warfare 2.

I'm not
going to lie, the adrenaline you get from dodging a player going kamikaze with his helicopter is a spectacle to behold. Seriously, this adds such reason to buy this game solely for the multilayer Let's be fair, with what Modern Warfare 2 has endured

-Javelin suicide bombing
-Glitched lobbies
-Elevator glitches
-Airdrop running
-Nuke Boosting

Bad Company 2 definitely deserves a mention.

Single Player

Let me Just say that I loved the single player in BCBF1, It had that cheese that makes it so enjoyable, Battlefield bad company 2 on the other hand...well...Let's just say I'd take Modern Warfare 2's action packed single player, any day. It's not that it's bad...just...not that great. It has it's moments yes, but the single player seems like...an afterthought. But I will say, as a fan of the first Bad company's quirky single player, I was a bit heartbroken to find that the sequel had taken a more serious tone. Luckily, some of the humor is still there, but it still doesn't touch the Rainbow sprinkles conversation, or golf carts.

Still, if your going to buy this game, solely for the single player, be warned. You will have an experience filled with semi-enjoyment. However, that is no reason to turn away this game.

Final Verdict

Bad Company 2 is a must buy, the multiplayer, is unlike anything I have ever seen, While the single player is somewhat weak, I still found myself replaying it.

As odd as it may seem.

9/10

This game is just a bit shy of gaming Nirvana, If the single player was as excellent as it's rival. this game would surely secure a 10/10. But I will warn you, if you do not have Xbox Live, give this a rent,
