It wasn't the first time a grenade had landed at their feet. Stolt quickly kicked it up and away.
Markovz: Hit the deck!
The two dove in the opposite direction. There wasn't much time, considering the grenades had just a 3 1/2 second delay after impact.
After their bodies hit the ground, they covered their heads with their hands and opened their mouths. This would protect their most vital parts to some extent and allow for equalization of pressure to keep them from blowing out their eardrums.
A warmth washed over them as the grenade exploded. Luckily for them, the were designed to kill by sheer overpressure rather than shrapnel.
The two collected themselves and ran into cover.
Stolt: Are you okay?
Markovz: Yeah. Let's hang back for a bit. He seems like he can handle himself.
They checked their magazines. The one inside the M6Ds were still half full.
