It serves as a suppressive and long to medium range counter-infantry weapon. As opposed to the standard M392 DMR, the M392 DMR - ONI Variant is capable of much more forceful bullet impact. This weapon is standard issue on all ONI ships as of 2555. ONI marines can be seen using this weapon when deployed in the field. It falls in between a Sniper Rifle and a Battle Rifle in terms of power and range. The weapon sports a very stylish semi-matte black finish on the rubber grips, with a slight navy blue polish on the metal. The weapon itself proves highly effective against shields and power armor at any range. Although the accuracy is excellent, the weapon itself proves to be slightly innaccurate in the hands of a novice when being used simply due to the recoil. The weapon fires single shot bursts in an attempt to help counter the bullet velocity recoil. Although not as powerful as a sniper rifle, this weapon can do serious damage. It is mounted with an ammo counter and an ACOG scope.
