Sir, sensors are picking up debris 5000km ahead. There is scorch marks and residue indicating disruptor fire. No other ships are detected in the area. Can you get a match on the hull signature? Yessir, it's consistent with standard Federation armour. I believe it's the remains of the ship broadcasting the distress signal. Bring a piece of the hull in, scan for lifepods. Scans indicate there are no lifepods. Sir, a ship is decloaking ahead, a Romulan warbird.
Open hailing frequency, now! A noise indicated the channel was open. Romulan vessel, you have violated the treaty of our peoples. Explain your actions or we will be forced to consider this as an act of aggression against the United Federation of Planets. Before Thomas could finish, the Romulan warbird open fired. Status?
