Lex was born on a UNSC Frigate known as "The Second Star to the Right". Lex's father was a prominent UNSC Naval Captain, while his mother was a respected UNSC Army Lieutenant. Due to the fact that both of Lex's parents were UNSC soldiers currently in active service, Lex was forced to attend a boarding school on Earth. When Lex graduated high school at the age of 18, he decided that he would carry on the legacy of his family, and join the military. When Lex enlisted in the UNSC Marine Corps, he quickly discovered that he had a great propensity for military life. Lex found that he became quite fond of the ridged and difficult life of military soldiers, to the point where he reveled in difficulty and adversity. After completing his basic training with significant ease, Lex caught the attention of UNSC Spceial Operations, and was drafted as a candidate into the ODST. Once again, Lex found himself quite at home while under the rigors and pressure of the ODST training program, and unlike most candidates, Lex breezed through the training with relatively no difficulty. It was clear that Lex was an exceptionally skilled soldier, fit only for the most intensive assignments, with nothing short of leadership and command. in 2531, with The Human-Covenant war in full swing, Lex found himself on the front lines of some of the most pivotal engagements of the war, earning his stripes and his commission, as well as racking up the enemy body count, scoring important victories when they were needed. Both of Lex's parents were killed in 2535. Based on the information he was given, Lex's parents were killed in an engagement with The Covenant.
