Nighthawk emerged from cover as the Wraith Mortar hit the building next to where he was sniping from. Nighthawk then wasted no time in getting back up, and taking aim that the fourth Wraith. He locked it into his scope. Nighthawk could see that the Mortar on the Wraith was getting ready to fire again. NIghthawk knew that if he waited for his scope to get a solid lock on the target, he would be faced with yet another incoming blast from the Wraith. Knowing that he only had seconds before the Wraith fired, Nighthawk simply pulled the trigger, and hoped that he had led the moving Wraith enough to score a direct hit. Luckily, Nighthawk had managed to land a hit, and the fourth Wraith was reduced to little more than debris and plasma fire.
Nighthawk: Fourth Wraith is down...
Nighthawk ejected the clip from his rifle, and reached to his side to replace it with a fresh one. However, as he did this, he noticed that Jacob was under attack by the Brute War Chieftain that he had spotted earlier. He watched as Jacob was tossed back into the wall of an adjoining building by the force of impact from the Hammer impact.
Nighthawk: God...what the hell is Jacob doing? He is going to get himself killed!
Nighthawk turn to look at Athios and McKinley.
Nighthawk: You two...eyes down below. Jacob is being tossed around by a War Chieftain! Get suppressing fire on that Brute pronto!
Meanwhile:
Tye was bothered by the fact that the situation on the main front was starting to deteriorate. However, he did have faith that despite the difficulties that Jacob and the others could hold the line. However, Tye was still intent on getting to the west end to see what was going on so he could try and organize a push back.
Tyber: Jacob...I am currently on the east end of the Spaceport. I am with a few squads of Marines holding one of the side roads. However...I am going to head over to the west end. I have lost contact without people there. I am going to go and make sure that line is not breached, and if it is, try and push back. Just hold out for as long as you can out there.
With that, Tye looked at one of the Marines next to him.
Tyber: Sergeant...hold this position. Do not let these Covenant bastards through! I am heading to the west side to check in on the situation over there.
UNSC Sergeant: Yes sir! We will provide cover fire!
Tye nodded, as he got up, and broke out into a full sprint, falling back, and heading to the west side of the Spaceport. It did not take Tye too long to get to the other side of the Spaceport, as he cut through the inner terminal, avoiding a long sprint around the perimeter.
As Tye got closer and closer, he could hear the sounds of Plasma Fire, but he could not hear any UNSC weapons fire. He found this to be rather odd. However, as he got even closer, he could hear the sound of a Gravity Hammer slamming into the pavement, and the sound of Elites yelling out in agony.
Tyber: What the hell?
Tye broke through the door, and found himself outside again, and he made visual confirmation with the western line. He could see several Elites scattered around, looking and, as if they were looking for something. However, when they spotted Tye, they all took aim with their Plasma Rifles.
Elite Minor: Human!
Tye immediately fell into cover behind a supply crate, as he readied his weapons. However, before any of the Elites could fire their Plasma Rifles, however, they were all tossed in various directions by what seemed like the impact of a Gravity Hammer from a camouflaged Brute. Tye heard the Elites all scream, as he peaked upwards, aiming both of his SMGs forward.
Tye saw that all the ELites were dead from the impact. It was then he noticed a Stalker drop his active camo.
Tyber: Oh...it's you...
Anaconda: Yeah...me...
Tye sighed.
Tyber: What happened here?
Anaconda: These Humans were overrun by the time I got here. Before the ELites could advance...I jumped in and finished what these Human's couldn't. Then you showed up.
Tyber: Makes sense. I lost contact with this end a few minutes ago. I came to investigate. In any case...thanks for the save. You may of just saved us a major headache.
Before Anaconda could acknowledge, he came under fire from more Elites that were moving forward. Anaconda turned around and roared, as plasma bolts impacted his shields.
Tyber: Charge them...I got you covered!
Tye laid down some suppressive fire with his SMGs, drawing some fire away from Anaconda, as Anaconda engaged his active camo and charged the attacking line with his Hammer.
Tyber: This is so strange. I never thought I would find myself covering a Brute to help him kill Elites.
Meanwhile:
Far behind the Covenant Lines, Voro, and several dozen SPecial Operation ELites had been sitting, and waiting. They had been sitting back, allowing Brutes and other "lesser" races push forward on the initial attack.
Spec-Ops Elite: COmmander...when are we going to advance? Our blades demand the blood of our enemies!
Voro simply laughed.
Voro: We move in once these Mongrels spend their lives to clear a path. I have no intention of fighting side by side with them...but I have every intention of spending their lives for my own benefit.
Spec-Ops Elite: Shipmaster Xyrho's orders were...
Voro scoffed.
Voro: I care very little for his orders! His orders are the orders of a collaborator. The Shipmaster is misguided.
The other Spec-Op Elites fell silent when they heard this.
Voro: If the Shipmaster wants his Elites to die side by side with the lesser races...then HE can lead them into battle. I will NOT order any Elite to spill his blood in the sight of...something like THAT...
Voro turned his head and looked at several Grunts who were checking their methane tanks.
Voro: They are not worthy to bare witness to our prowess.
The Spec-Op Elite was going to object, but a very sharp glare from Voro silenced him.
Voro: We wait...that is final!
Meanwhile:
In orbit, Burke had been coordinating with the rest of the UNSC Battlegroup to try and repel Covenant Forces. THe King Raven had taken moderate damage, and there were several breaches in the hull, but nothing too serious.
UNSC Operations Officer: Sir...we just lost the Saint's Society.
Burke: Damn it! Status of the Covenant fleet?
UNSC Operations Officer: Disproportionate losses. We cannot keep this fight up for much longer. We need to turn the tables fast.
Burke rubbed his chin, as he stood up and walked around to the holotable. HE could see the UNSC Line, and the Covenant line. The three Covenant ships that had been boarded were also highlighted.
Burke: Are we still in contact with the ODSTs from the King Raven that we sent over to our designated Covenant Assault Carrier?
UNSC Operations Officer: Yes sir...
Burke: Get me a line to them.
UNSC Operations Officer: Stand by...
Burke looked at the holomap. He could see that there were several smaller support crafts that were underneath The Assault Carrier in question, which were providing vital support fire for the rest of the fleet. Burke knew that if he could manage to punch a hole in this part of the Covenant line, the UNSC Battlegroup might actually managed to push The Covenant back.
Meanwhile:
The Ulterior Motive had managed to recover Yates' pelican from the battle zone. Once Yates' was back aboard and safe, The Ulterior Motive broke off, and began to fall back, away from the battle group.
Trust Officer: Admiral...we have recovered Deputy Director Yates. He is aboard in Hanger Bay 2.
Spender: Get us away from The Combat Zone...full speed. There is no need to be this close any longer.
Trust officer: Aye sir, coming about and breaking off.
Spender sighed, as he could see the two fleets duke it out over San Angeles. Spender didn't show it, but he was very concerned about the outcome of the battle. He knew that no matter how it ended, the situation was about to become far more complicated for The Trust.
