Forerunner Construct - AKA: Sentinels
Sentinels are Forerunner machines, created to supress outbreaks from The Flood. They come in many varieties, but most common was the Sentinal Aggressor class. They possess limited AI abilities which help them target and eliminate the flood. They are almost always controlled by either a Monitor or local AI of sufficiant power to deligate multiple Sentinels.

Early History
Little is known about the early history of Sentinels. It is surmised they were built for defensive purposes by the Forerunners. They seem to be programmed with limited scope, only built for Flood outbreaks and basic maintenance.
Human-Covenant War
Sentinels were first seen on Installation 04, during the first encounter with the Flood. Sentinels were, at first, passive to humans, but soon turned violently hostile after intentions to destroy the Installation became clear.
Post Covenant Status
It is surmised the Elites have control of these Forerunner constructs, as they have been seen serving Elite purposes on several occasions. It is unknown if the entire array of Sentinels has fallen victim to Elite control, or just a certain divison.
Construction
Sentinels are generally lightweight, and are built, in mass quantities, in Forerunner machine factories located on Forerunner installations, such as The Ark or the Halo Array. They are virtually identical to each other in every sense, and programming is specific to the desired task the Sentinel is to carry out. They are very single minded and will only deviate from a task to combat the Flood. They are equipped with anti-gravity systems that allow for unfettered levitation with relative ease. All Sentinels are equipped with Forerunner laser weapons that prove to be very effective against the Flood and shield systems in general.
Physical Appearence
There is too much variation in construction to create an accurate and all encompassing profile. Please refer to the ranking section for further detail on design specific appearance.
Personality / Behaviour
As it was stated, Sentinels are passive and single minded in their tasks. They will never deviate from a task unless the threat of a Flood quarantine breach is either detected or surmised.
Director Vernette's Personal Notes
Floating machines created by an ancient race of incredibly powerful beings never scored high in the book of trust. Sentinels are what is left of the Forerunners from what I understand. They seem single minded and focused on...whatever it is they are responsible for. They seem to be the all purpose constructs of the Forerunner legacy. They are sterile, and they kind of smell like fresh plastic.
They seem to really hate, or are programmed to hate, the Flood. According to reports, Sentinels will simply stop what they are doing, if they notice that the Flood is around, and kick their combat protocols into full gear. I would imagine this has somethijng to do with programming as I cannot imagine a single AI dictatring orders to trillions of sentinels at a time. There must be some form of local programming involved with the Setinels. It should be noted that this theory is supported by the fact the Elites, at one time or another, have convinced Sentinels to shoot at Humans.
