Jacob tried to remain calm, but his heart rate was elevating and he was getting very stressed out. He was telling the truth and he was trying to get that across. Jacob: You think I was left alone? They were monitoring everything I did, I went to an armory and found at least eight cameras! The Spartans were by my side 90% of the time and the only times I was left alone, was to sleep and then when shit started to hit the fan! Jacob paused. Jacob: You can believe what you want, Captain. You can think I am a Trust spy, you can think I am lying, but I am telling the goddamned truth! I was working on my own and any attempt to contact you would have ended with my death and nothing to show for it! Jacob paused again as he controlled his breathing. Jacob: I. Am. Not. Lying.

Jennifer: If you were under as much supervision as you claim, then how did you manage to steal so much data? Why would The Trust allow you so much freedom to their secrets? Why would they let you make copies of it? Jennifer paused. Jennifer: It is not adding up Jacob! The only thing I am seeing from you is counter-intelligence 101. As a Trust spy...I am sure you would know all about that. Admit it Jacob... Jennifer's voice got more stern. Jennifer: From what I know about ODST Black Team...you could be a spy and not even know it. Hell...you may know it, and you are just a good liar. I heard that compliance is rewarded in The Trust. How long have you been complying with their orders?

[Hells Sniper]

Jacob had enough. He slammed his hand down on the table. Jacob: Because the Trust wanted me as a Spy! Jacob stared down Frost, leaning forward on the table. Jacob: They've been wanting me to join them for the past seventeen years...so when I turned, they rewarded me with information upon information. Don't you get it Jennifer? They thought they had me...they thought they finally got what they wanted. Jacob paused. Jacob: I turned because I had a chance at giving them that...and I turned with the sole intention of betraying them once it was necessary. They never got into my mind...they never brainwashed me or tortured me into compliance if that's what you're thinking. They simply offered information. So I took it. Jacob paused again. Jacob: You just don't get it.

Jennifer: Seventeen years? Seems like a long time to be on the fence about something. Why did it take you seventeen years to make this decision? Why not sixteen? Why not eighteen? Why not five? Six? Seven? Two? So many choices...but you waited seventeen odd years to finally make this choice. Jennifer scoffed. Jennifer: That sounds like bullshit to me! Jennifer paused. Jennifer: I am getting sick of the lies Jacob! Give it up!

[Hells Sniper]

Jacob laughed. Jacob: There are things even you don't know about me Captain. Things ONI buried because it was necessary, things that happened seventeen years ago that even Admiral Harrison knows better than you. I've been involved with the Trust more times than you... Jacob leaned forward. Jacob: I never wanted to join them...ever, it was never a question for me. But I saw a chance to get inside and get information that could potentially save a lot of lives...a lot more than it cost. So I took it. Besides, you should know all about that... Jacob leaned back and scoffed. Jacob: I've told you the truth. I've said what I had to say. But you already made a decision, you made it before you stepped into this room. So stop toying with me, Captain. I gave Nighthawk everything I managed to steal, I told you why I did the things I did. So stop acting all high and mighty, stop pretending like you know the truth because you fucking don't. Jacob shook his head.

[Naked Crook]

Jennifer: Perfectly said Jacob. There are things I don't know about you. Jennifer leaned forward, and glared at Jacob. Jennifer: There are things I don't know about you...but I will learn. Jennifer paused. Jennifer: In fact...I already have a start on that learning. Jennifer paused, as she stood up. She began to walk around the interrogation table. Jennifer: Jacob...are you aware that ONI was able to capture The Ulterior Motive? Jennifer continued to walk around the table. Jennifer: In fact...we managed to capture Black Team AND the Spartan that was charged with the leadership of The Risk Takers. You may know him as Liam. As Jennifer said this, she was behind Jacob. She gave a quick turn of her head and winked at Cameron. Jennifer: We interrogated all five men, in different rooms, and at the same time. Cameron here personally got the information out of Liam. I never knew Cam was that...bloodthirsty. I digress...each of them pointed fingers at YOU as a Trust collaborator. They EACH claimed that you have been in service to The Trust for a very long time - and that your job was counter intelligence and recon. Jennifer walked to Jacob's side and placed her hands down on the table. Jennifer: Five against one. You are out gunned here, you Trust son of a bitch! Jennifer scoffed, as she repeated an earlier question. Jennifer: Why did you make no effort to contact ONI or the UNSC about your intentions! I am not buying your first BS answer...so try again!

Harrison leaned on the table in the other room as Jennifer questioned Jacob. The tactics she was using were classic, even Harrison knew them, and by that logic even Jacob would know that. But, Jacob didn't know that Jennifer wasn't telling the truth and Harrison knew this would prove something. In the interrogation room, Jacob simply stared at the mirror in front of him, staring back at Jennifer. Jacob stared her down in the mirror before slightly turning his head to face her. He spoke very low and very slow. Jacob: They are lying. Jacob shook his head. Jacob: I...I tried to make contact. I figured even if they found out, even if I died on that ship, I could've done something. Jacob took a deep breath as he hung his head. Jacob: I figured it failed...but I tried, Captain. I sent an encrypted message to Captain Reynolds of the Mind's Attrition. I didn't receive an acknowledgement, I didn't receive anything back...so I figured it failed. Jacob took a moment before continuing. Jacob: I talked to the construct...I talked to Vanguard, learned what it was going to do, learned what it was and then sent a message to Reynolds, encrypted. Then I made my way to Anaconda...I knew if, if I could get him off the ship maybe there was a chance to fight this thing. Jacob looked back up. Jacob: Then I contacted you. Jacob paused. Jacob: I recorded it all, too. My conversation with Vanguard, the message to Reynolds, my conversation with Anaconda. It's all on that PDA...it's all there. You shut me down twice before you accepted my call, I figured Reynolds had done the same but...well... Jacob shrugged, he sounded defeated. Everything about his body language represented utter defeat, and anger with himself. Jacob: What did I have to lose after all that?

Jennifer's interest was piqued when Jacob had mentioned Reynolds. Jennifer: You contacted Reynolds? Why did you not mention this earlier? Jennifer paused. Jennifer: Why did you contact Reynolds? Why did you not contact Harrison? Reynolds is not your commanding officer. Why Reynolds?

[Hells Sniper]

Jacob shook his head. Jacob: Harrison wouldn't have trusted me either...he would've done exactly what you did. And considering Harrison was, and still is, on the Trust watch list, I couldn't risk it. Jacob shrugged. Jacob: But Reynolds...Reynolds is new, he's fresh. He's not ONI, he's UNSC, he's new to this game...the Trust couldn't have possibly gotten to him yet, they didn't even have a record on him that I could find. The rest of you, the Trust had close eyes on all of you. Jacob paused. Jacob: So I took a chance...another that ultimately failed by the looks of your reaction. He...he didn't mention this?

Jennifer: Reynolds never mentioned this. I makes me wonder why? Perhaps he never received your messages, or perhaps he ignored them. Either way...there should be some way to prove this. It is unlikely that Reynolds would know how to cover his tracks well enough to hide something like this. The question is; why would he hide this? Jennifer paused. She looked at the two way mirror, and then back at Jacob. Jennifer: Now, we are getting somewhere useful, Jacob. This is a step in the right direction.
