On the pelican, Robertson smiled under his helmet. He could appreciate Jesse's enthusiasm on explosions and the respect he accepted Robertson had for them.
On the Divine Intervention, Vhat listened to Xyrho before being dismissed. He thought to himself, as he stepped off the phantom.
I'm not even sure I can see past my 'foolish' piety.
Instead, Vhat spoke aloud.
Vhat: "Yes, Shipmaster. I will prepare."
Vhat walked past Xyrho, his mind swarming and flooding with everything Dangerus and Xyrho had shared. Every time he replayed the conversation in his mind, he couldn't fathom how the Prophets could be wrong about something. The Prophets have always proven their abilities, their gifts, to the Covenant. He couldn't even believe that his Gods, the Forerunners, would construct something of evil design. Surely their kind and benevolent Gods, or at least Vhat's, wouldn't have allowed such unholy abominations to exist, could they?
Before he realized it, he had sub-consciously entered the corvette's weapon room. He looked around as many soldiers, Elites, Grunts and Jackals were all getting prepped for more combat. Then Vhat remembered something else from the conversation with Dangerus... Ultra. Vhat couldn't believe it. He was an Ultra now. His family back on Sangheilios would be honored and proud of his achievement, but he needed to wait before celebrating. He needed to make it off San Angeles alive before celebrations could begin.
Vhat had walked over to an available area, stripping off most of his armor, except his chest piece for replacements that were in better condition. When he was ready, Vhat moved to a different area where the helmets were. He grabbed the helmet for an Ultra and put it on. He noted how uncomfortable it felt, but it was new, fresh, respectable. He took a moment to feel the moment of putting it on and embracing his new honor.
On the Ulterior Motive:
Hammer Team had walked to an available Spartan armory on the ship. The team's leader had typed in authorization codes and setup the armory for Hammer Team, a small prompt on the keypad saying:
WELCOME BACK, HAMMER TEAM
The man smirked under his helmet as the doors opened to the armory. The Spartans walked in, the lights in the armory flicking on, showing the various required equipment for Spartans. As the team spread out to observe and get comfortable, the leader pulled out his gravity hammer and held it in his hands.
Man: "This place is missing something..."
The rest of the Spartans watched the man take his hammer and slam it hard into the floor of the armory to where it was lodged into the reinforced sheets of titanium. The gravity hammer looked reminiscent of the old folklore tale of King Arthur and Excalibur, the blade sticking out of the stone. The other Spartans laughed at their leaders joke. Then the female with the energy sword spoke up.
Woman: "Very funny, Thor."
The man, their leader, that she was talking to shrugged.
Thor: "Hey, I've got an alias to maintain, you know."
The three other Spartans laughed, all of Hammer Team removing their helmets and setting them down on a table. Thor walked to the center holotable and hooked up the datapad Yates gave them on Fireteam Harmony.
Thor: "Let's get down to business."
