Considered to be one of the oldest weapons in the UNSC arsenal, the M41 Rocket Launcher - Type B has been in service since the initial conflict with The Insurrection. Generally considered to be obsolete, it is slated to be replaced by the M57 Pilum Assault Weapon. However, despite its obsolete status, the M41 Rocket Launcher - Type B is still considered to be a reliable and effective weapon against vehicles and infantry alike. The M41 Rocket Launcher - Type B is capable of firing two high explosive missiles. The functional advantage of the M41 Rocket Launcher - Type B is its twin barrel design, allowing two successive shots before the empty barrel unit can be discarded, and a new one inserted into its place. This allows the weapon to be quickly reloaded in the battle field. There have been several revisions to the M41 Rocket Launcher. This configuration for this weapon enables users to track vehicles and aircrafts with rockets. This means that the automatic targeting system greatly increases the chances that the target will be hit. Additionally, operators can also lock onto and track personnel. However, it should be noted that all revisions to this weapon include smart-linked sights, which enable the users to accurately aim this weapon over great distances. Due to the incredibly high yield of the ordinance, this weapon is highly effective against groups of enemy personnel and heavy vehicles. However, if the operator of this weapon fails to distance themselves from the point of impact, they can inadvertently kill or severely injure themselves. Due to the size of this weapon, it can deliver crushing blows when used as a melee weapon. However, this is highly discouraged by the UNSC. ONI Variant The M41 Rocket Launcher - ONI Variant has been designated exclusively for ONI personnel. The weapon sports a semi-matte black and navy blue finish to accent the aesthetics of the typically covert operations undertaken by ONI. While very similar to its UNSC counter-part, the M41 Rocket Launcher - Type B - ONI Variant is designed to propel its ordinance at high velocities as well over greater ranges. Additionally, the tracking systems are far more precise and function at greater ranges. As a final addition, operators that are equipped with ODST BDUs or MJOLNIR systems can remotely access and manually guide ordinance, allowing for careful maneuvering inside of buildings and around complex obstacles. Director Vernette's Personal Notes Any weapon that allows you to manually guide the projectile has to be doing something right. This is one of those rare times that I regret not wearing the ODST BDU full time. -Director Vernette
