Being the 'sore thumb' of sorts with the Aenar, Keval enlisted to Starfleet when he was 8, repeatedly applying every year until he was both old enough and accepted. And evwntually doing so.
As he aged, he slowly rose through the ranks of Starfleet. He found a lot of war time in his previous ship command, U.S.S. Primrose, a Galaxy-class ship. Now, with a spotless military career and outstanding commendations and medals as well as other personal favors from former C.O.s, he has achieved the rank of Fleet Admiral, commanding a prototype, Odyssey-class starship, Heart of the Aenar.[/sheet]

Being a fellow Andorian, she was very eager to serve with an Andorian fleet admiral. She made it her goal to be the first one, but when she wasn't she wanted to join him. Over time, she succeeded and managed to even get to know Keval personally. When offered command of the U.S.S. Heart of the Aenar, he chose Thyni as his XO. She's been by his side since.[/sheet]
POSTING MAY BEGIN NOW
"Admiral's Log, Stardate 89507.8. The fleet is standing by in orbit of the newly discovered Brisa VII. I have decided to withhold the survey teams in favor of sensor scans. We have been having issues getting clear scans in certain spots. Reports have also suggested that Klingons have been active in the sector and are just as dangerous as ever. The U.S.S. Crete and the U.S.S. London have been itching to get surveying the surface personally, but I fear that the surface is not as hospitable to the scientists as we are lead to believe.
I have, however, deployed MACO Team 'Slayer' to the surface to investigate our missing patches of scans. I only hope it's a natural phenomena instead of a something worse."
The alien that ended his log stood up from his desk onboard his ship, the U.S.S. Heart of the Aenar. The man's blue skin was pale from his older age, but his white air glistened like it did in his youth. The Andorian returned to the bridge. He never regarded himself as an impatient person, but when there is a chance of instability, especially near the border of Klingon space, he was, of course, uneasy.
Returning to the bridge, he was greeted with a smile from his XO, a close friend and fellow Andorian. She stood up relinquishing the Command Chair back to th'Zarath.
th'Zarath: "Report, Commander."
The Andorian woman took her chair to the right of th'Zarath.
sh'Kori: "Major Pa'aleia reports that they are within one kilometer of the edge of the gap. It's just over the next hill."
Meanwhile on the surface of Brisa VII:
MACO Squad Slayer was closing in on their target location. The six-person squad was divided into two groups of three. Both groups were neck and neck racing along the land on their respective ARGOs. The surface of Brisa VII was far from dull. The scenery was unique and the trees were colorful and vibrant. Multiple times, they saw unique flora and native species. The squads were going up hill, and when the top of the hill approached, they slowed down, stopping just under the surface top.
Every MACO member climbed out and saddled up, readying their weapons and setting them to stun. When they formed up, they headed towards the hill's top. The anticipation among the six MACO soldiers was skyrocketing, and to their amazement, they stood before a field of plains.
Everyone lowered their weapon with disappointment. However, the Major didn't. She switched her helmet through the available spectrum until she found what she suspected.
Pa'aleia: "Everyone switch to thermal."
The five other MACO soldiers did as they were told and they saw what the Major saw.
McKinley: "What is it, Ma'am?"
Jacobson: "My guess, Private, is that that is one of the sources of the spotty images on the planet that the ship's sensors couldn't scan."
Pa'aleia was unfazed by the discovery.
Pa'aleia: "It is a logical conclusion to suspect as much. However, we will not know for sure until we investigate personally. Rifles up, everyone. Stay sharp and follow me."
The five other MACO soldiers moved close, turning to sweep a general 180 degree area as the moved closer to their target. As they approached the perimeter of the target, Pa'aleia radioed the Heart of the Aenar.
Pa'aleia: "Captain, we believe we have found the source of your spotty sensor scans. You may need to rescan the area in thermal. That is how I initially discovered the anomoly. We are entering the area now, activating radio silence."
The soldiers of Team Slayer nodded in confirmation. As they found the closest door. McKinley approached the door as he began pressing keys.
McKinley: "Major, the code is in Romulan. But it's odd that it uses Klingon encryption."
Pa'aleia slightly turned her head, he back facing the door. Her and the four other MACO soldiers had fanned out, fortifying their position, ready for any ambush.
Pa'aleia: "Can you get it open or not, Private?"
Pa'aleia's tone remained unchanged. She didn't show any concern or discomfort as her Vulcan mindset was unwaivered.
McKinley: "I can with some time."
McKinley continued pressing random sequences of buttons, with the assistance of a device he had attached to the panel. The sequence cracking had gone on for several minutes.
Pa'aleia: "What is your status, Private?"
McKinley wiped some sweat off of his brow. McKinley understood the stress involved and that the longer they stood outside, in front of the door, the chance of being noticed increased.
McKinley: "With respect, Ma'am, this isn't a quick job. I need time to ensure the algorithms and encryptions are accurate to the right dialect of Klingon."
As if they were being listened on, several green bursts were fired on the wall near McKinley, causing a frightened yelp from the Private. Pa'aleia aimed her scope up, barely catching a glimpse of the figure who shot at them.
The Major fired back a three-round burst fire from her Phase Rifle, hitting the cover the attacker was behind. The rest of the MACO squad, with the exception of McKinley, fired on the location that Pa'aleia was firing. McKinley returned to the panel and hurried faster.
Two more green bursts were fired at Team Slayer, killing one of the soldiers who was flanked by the energy sniper fire. The woman screamed in agony as Jacobson and another soldier returned fire on the new attacker, leaving Pa'aleia and a fourth member firing at the original target.
McKinley grumbled in frustration still trying to override the door.
Jacobson: "McKinley! The sooner the door is open, the sooner we can get into cover! You just ran out of time!"
McKinley continued grumbling until the door opened quickly.
Pa'aleia: "Everyone in! I'll bring up the rear!
The two rookies grabbed the sixth injured MACO soldier and dragged her in. McKinley and Jacobson followed in behind, covering both the injured and Pa'aleia. Pa'aleia brought up the rear, firing on whatever moved. The door shut in front of her. When it was compmetely closed, she fired on the control panel on their side of the door, permanently locking it.
Everyone gathered around their medic who was dying by the minute. One of the rookies had a tricorder monitoring their comrade's lifesigns. No one said a word. Pa'aleia had began scanning the infrastructure they were in, ignoring the emotional situation. Then, what everyone feared had happened, the medic died, the beeping from the tricorder verifying the assumption.
Jacobson: "Let it be known that at this time and date, Lieutenant Johnson is no longer a living member of MACO. May she rest in peace."
There was a silence as the tricorder was folded up. Everyone but the Major said a quiet prayer to themselves. After Pa'aleia allowed a minute or two to pass, she interjected.
Pa'aleia: "Come on, we still have a mission to complete. I've scanned the structure. The power source is multiple levels deep. Sergeant, take the two rookies and take the lower level. Setup some proton charges and set them to the ship's weapon modulation frequency. Private McKinley and myself will go to the higher level, lower the protective shield around the power source and secure an exit for the team. Understood?"
Everyone nodded and they split off into their groups. Pa'aleia and McKinley went right as Jacobson and the rookies went left down the stairs.
After about half an hour, the group had regrouped at the designated location where a hangar was. Jacobson then did a headcount, noticing that McKinley was gone.
Jacobson: "Major, where's McKinley?"
The Major did her best to try and convey Human sympathy, but it was very evident she didn't truly feel it. Her Vulcan tone still played recognizable tone to everyone.
Pa'aleia: "Some of the Klingons got to him. I stayed as long as I could, but the Klingons kept coming. He had to be left behind."
Jacobson swore to himself. Soon, more disruptor shots were fired at the MACO team. They soldiers wasted no time in climbing into one of the Toron-class Klingon shuttles. In the pilot seat was Pa'aleia. She quickly adapted to the controls and soon was airborne. The hangar doors had began to open, but were soon overrode and shut. Pa'aleia then fired at the hangar bay doors, blasting them open. She then piloted out of the base.
In the comm seat was Jacobson. He was attempting to hail the USS Heart of the Aenar.
Meanwhile:
Back in orbit, the USS Heart of the Aenar was picking up static until Jacobson's voice soon broke the emptiness.
Jacobson: "USS Hear... of... Aenar... if... ca... ar... this... det... charges..."
Before they could respond, three Klingon Bird-of-Preys and a Negh'var Battleship de-cloaked.
th'Zarath: "Red Alert! Battle Formation Delta-Two!"
The Odyssey-class ship moved forward towards the enemy fleet. The two science ships closed in behind the HotA.
th'Zarath: "Fire at Will, Ensign!"
The USS Heart of the Aenar took multiple fire assaults from the Klingon ships, but the shields were holding. The Heart of the Aenar charged forward and passed between all three ships, firing phasers as it did at all three ships. As it cleared, the Starfleet battleship fired Quantum Torpedoes at the three ships, destroying one of the BoPs.
The shockwave from the first BoP disabled the power systems of the second BoP. The Starfleet ships were watching as the Klingon ship went dark and began drifting. The two science ships followed up, firing on the Negh'var, firing all they could muster. The Klingon ship returned fire on the USS London, blowing one of the nacelles. It too, was now disabled.
The USS Crete and Heart of the Aenar formed up. The Crete, an Intrepid-class like Voyager was, had gotten close enough to the Odyssey-class that they began sharing shields. The helmsman of each ship were coordinating with each other to ensure a synchronous flight pattern. When they approached the Negh'var, they swooped up, revealing their ventral side, firing anything that could damage the Klingon battleship.
The shields appeared faltered, and the two Federation ships formed up for one final pass. As if out of nowhere, the Toron-shuttle appeared into orbit and was beelining straight towards the Heart of the Aenar. Behind the shuttle were three Bird of Preys.
th'Zarath: "Transporter room, lock onto the shuttle and beam it aboard now!"
The Bird-of-Preys continued firing on the shuttle, followed by the Klingon battleship firing multiple torpedoes at it too. The shuttle then teleported away just in time to allow the torpedoes to pass through, damagin one of the pursuit ships.
Wasting no time, th'Zarath ordered the USS Crete and his ship to retreat to Starbase 97. The two ships broke off their attack pattern, adjusted course and warped
