Damage Rating Index

The Damage Rating Index is the ONI measurement used to determin how dangerous a weapon is. Various factors are taken into account:

  1. Classification (Handgun, Rifle, etc)

  2. Effective range

  3. Plasma or combustion based projectiles

  4. Projectile's concussive force

  5. Organic damage limitations (stunning, mutiliation, etc)

These factors are used t calculate the following levels of the Damage Rating Index:

  1. No damage, but subject is momentarily disabled and conscious.

  2. No Damage, but subject is rendered unconscious/stunned.

  3. Minor Damage, subject has mild bleeding. Treatment is not necessary.

  4. Minor Damage, subject has moderate bleeding. Treatment is recommended.

  5. Moderate Damage, subject has blunt force trauma and/or sevear bleeding. Treatment is necessary.

Damage Rating Index

The Damage Rating Index is the ONI measurement used to determin how dangerous a weapon is. Various factors are taken into account:

  1. Classification (Handgun, Rifle, etc)

  2. Effective range

  3. Plasma or combustion based projectiles

  4. Projectile's concussive force

  5. Organic damage limitations (stunning, mutiliation, etc)

These factors are used t calculate the following levels of the Damage Rating Index. Be advised, the rating assumes a subject has been hit with a single projectile/object:

  1. No damage - but subject is momentarily disabled and conscious.

  2. Very Minor Damage - but subject is rendered unconscious/stunned.

  3. Minor Damage - subject has mild bleeding. Treatment is not necessary.

  4. Minor Damage - subject has moderate bleeding. Treatment is recommended.

  5. Moderate Damage - subject is wounded and mobility is reduced. Treatment is necessary

  6. Moderate Damage - subject has blunt force trauma and/or heavy bleeding. Treatment is necessary.

  7. Moderate Damage - subject has severe blunt force trauma and/or sevear bleeding. Immediate treatment is necessary.

  8. High Damage - subject is criticaly wounded and possibly suffering from tramautic blood loss. Immediate treatment is necessary.

  9. High Damage - subject is criticaly wounded and is near death. Death is very well inevitable, but preventable if on-site emergancy treatment is given.

  10. Fatal - Subject is killed on impact. No chance of survival.

It should also be noted that each rating can increase as more and more impacts are made. This is calculated by DRI = I + (I /4) and rounded to the nearest integer.

  • DRI Representing the Damage Rating Index

  • I representing the injury insex of the weapon used.

  • D representing the current injury level

An M6G Magnum has a Damage Rating Index of 5. Upon a single hit from an M6G, the subject sustains a level 5 injury. If hit for a second time, injuries are increased to level 6.

  • DRI = I + (5/4)

  • DRI = 5 + (5/4)

  • DRI = 5 + 1.25

  • DRI = 6.25

  • DRI = 6

In the event of a third hit...

  • DRI = I + (D/4)

  • DRI = 5 + (6/4)

  • DRI = 5 + 1.5

  • DRI = 6.5

  • DRI = 7

Conjecture:

The DRI is computed using human subjects. As there are many species ONI must deal with, the DERI must be adjusted based on species.

  • Elites generally allow for a 1 index point deduction.

  • Brutes, being the most durable species, allow for up to 4 points of index deduction.

  • Grunts, Drones, and Jackals rate the same as humans.

  • Engineers and Prophets rank 3 points lower then average.

The DRI has been known not to apply in certain cases, as some people generally prove to be more stubborn then others. Some individuals, by the grace of some higher power, have survived DRI 10 assaults. It is surmised there is a factor in how well the attacker weilds a weapon, but this cannot be factored in, as the variables are too great.

The DRI can be thrown off by the use of energy shields, power armor, and other forms of kevlar. This further leaves room for interpretation of the DRI.
