The MK-2 Assault Armor is heavily armored for reasons. Its armor cloth is made of Titanium and Nvium that prevent Syn from infecting the soldier by means of puncturing the skin. This armor is weighs only 120 pounds and can take a serious beating.

Characteristics
Heavily armored to prevent Syn and Sylex infections but also to allow USC Infantry to have enough armor in the even they must send ground teams.
