Harrison nodded a few times.
Harrison: I will get my teams ready once I return, a few minutes, top.
Harrison opened his PDA and pressed a few buttons, he smiled to himself and nodded.
Harrison: Strike Team Diamond is on their way, once they arrive, I will transfer Hoffman and get him secured. Once I get back, my specialized teams will be over in fifteen minutes.
Harrison stopped himself, he still had questions, but he knew they had to wait. It would only be a few minutes until Diamond arrived.
Harrison: If there is nothing else, I will take my leave and start coordinating with the rest of the fleet.
Meanwhile:
Dangerus nodded at Xyrho and looked at Furium, he shook his head. Dangerus then turned to Vhat when he spoke. He nodded, he was happy that this wouldn't need to continue much longer.
Dangerus: You two are dismissed then. Once you hear from the Nighthawk, get in contact with me. Vhat, stay by Xyrho's side from this moment on.
Dangerus turned to Furium.
Dangerus: We need to talk.
Meanwhile:
Savannah had taken the elevator all the way up to the medbay. Once she arrived, she knew exactly where to go. Savannah walked through a few double doors and finally entered a fairly large room, inside were several beds and stations designed for removing Spartan armor. The Ulterior Motive had accommodated for this due to the large number of Spartans they had in service.
In one bed was William, who was lying face down and passed out. In the next bed was Emma, who was about to get out of bed. Savannah jogged over and started yelling.
Savannah: Wow, wow, wow there Em. What're you doing?
Emma looked up and smiled.
Emma: Trying to get back into service, Number 2.
Savannah smiled and pushed Emma back onto the bed a bit, she chuckled.
Savannah: Told you not to call me that.
Emma laughed a bit and sat upright on the bed. Her leg looked healed, but Savannah knew there was still some internal wounds that needed to recover. Savannah glanced behind her at William and heard snoring.
Emma: Couldn't sleep because of that one's snoring. He's been out since the operation.
Savannah raised an eyebrow.
Emma: Nothing serious apparently, just something to cauterize the wounds. He got hit pretty good.
Savannah nodded. It was true, William was hit the worst with the sword to the chest and Savannah knew he would carry those scars for the rest of his life. Depending on how long that was.
Savannah: And you're leg?
Emma: Gonna be just fine. No cybernetics needed.
Savannah smiled and nodded.
Savannah: Wouldn't want to add anything we don't need, now would we?
Emma chuckled a bit and then went serious.
Emma: Boss, why didn't Liam just kill Anaconda?
Savannah looked at Emma. She was young, not even twenty, and Savannah knew her. She knew every single detail about every single Spartan 0. That was her role, she was the intelligence one, she always handled it for Liam. During their training days she helped Liam coordinate their plans. Emma was too young, and the relationship with her and Lyle was similar to hers and Liams.
Savannah: He wanted to protect you....all of you. You were wounded, Jessica was out, William was wounded and I was halfway across the planet.
Savannah sighed.
Savannah: He traded the lives of you, William and Jessica for the life of Anaconda.
Emma nodded, part of her understood, but part of her hated the fact that Anaconda lived. She had an objective and she wanted to see it through. She looked at Savannah.
Emma: What now?
Savannah laughed.
Savannah: Now we wait for Nighthawk to retaliate, and for Liam to get something from that Sharpmen fellow.
Concurrently, a few decks below.
Liam had made his way to the armory and entered. He knew exactly what he wanted from Jacob, and he knew exactly what Jacob wanted. Liam looked around the armory and noticed Jacob's equipment lying on a table. Liam walked over to it and picked up the helmet. Normal helmet, nothing too fancy, just a different colored visor.
Liam put his helmet down and picked up the sniper rifle. It was lighter than usual, and Liam could tell it had been modified for an extended magazine and thermal imaging. Liam nodded and looked at the Socom, also lightweight and also modified. He smirked to himself, Jacob knew his weapons.
That's when Jacob spoke up.
Jacob: Ya know, it's rude to go through other's things.
Liam put the gun down and turned around, seeing Jacob start to sit up and rub his eyes.
Jacob: Even when you Spartans aren't in that armor, your footsteps are the loudest thing.
Liam chuckled and watched Jacob sit up. His chest plate and most of his body armor was gone, leaving only Jacob's under armor and the bottom half of his armor, Liam noticed the paint job.
Liam: You like your customization, huh?
Jacob laughed as he stood up and stretched. He took a deep breath, which turned into a yawn before he replied.
Jacob: If you don't stand out from the crowd, then what are you?
Liam smirked, he could tell Jacob was a guy who liked to do his own things. He knew Jacob was the type of soldier to decide his own fate, to make his own rules. Jacob looked over at Liam and eyed him up and down, about seven feet tall.
Jacob: It's Liam, right? Without the armor you're just a, uh, well, a very intimidating marine.
Liam nodded.
Liam: Yes, sir.
Jacob's eyes perked up as he stared at Liam.
Jacob: Sir?
Liam: You're a Captain? I'm not.
Jacob nodded as he smirked.
Jacob: Never had a Spartan call me 'Sir' before. Gonna take some getting used to.
Liam was quick to respond.
Liam: I'm sure that's not the only thing that's gonna take time.
Jacob had gone to grab his armor off the ground when he looked up at Liam, raising an eyebrow.
Liam: You took down a lot of your fellow soldiers today, Captain.
Jacob turned away, making sure Liam couldn't see his facial expression as he picked up his armor and cringed. Jacob lifted the armor and placed it on the table with the rest of his equipment.
Jacob: Not my fellow soldiers if I don't fight alongside them.
Liam nodded, he saw Jacob was taking his acceptance pretty well. A few moments passed as Jacob was scratching dirt off his armor when he started to talk again, not looking up from his work.
Jacob: So, Liam, what can the newly 'ordained' do for you?
Liam smirked.
Liam: Actually, I'm here because I owe you something.
Jacob perked up and raised his eyebrows. Liam took a small datachip from his pocket and slid it along the table, right next to the chest piece of Jacob's armor, but he didn't lift his hand.
Liam: There it is. The interview, anything we have related to your family, almost everything we have on you.
Jacob stopped scratching and leaned back a bit.
Jacob: Just like that?
Liam nodded and lifted his hand.
Liam: Let's just call it an initiation gift.
Jacob began to reach over for the datachip when he paused.
Jacob: Why'd you say 'almost' everything?
Liam smirked and leaned on the table, it shook a bit.
Liam: Because I need you to help me fill in the rest on your involvement with Nighthawk and Anaconda.
Jacob retracted his hand and crossed his arms.
Jacob: Information for information?
Liam nodded and grabbed the chip. He plugged it into the table, that could double as a holotable. A view of about fifteen different files came up, all with a different name tag. A few sparked Jacob's interest as he walked around the table and looked at it all.
CAPTAIN JACOB SHARPMEN - 2521-PRESENT
CAPTAIN SHARPMEN INVOLVEMENT WITH NIGHTHAWK AND ANACONDA - 2537-PRESENT
SHARPMEN FAMILY
COMMANDER LISA PINESTAR - PRE-ACQUISITION
COMMANDER LISA PINESTAR - POST-ACQUISITION
MARS TRAINING GROUNDS INCIDENT - 2523
Jacob's eyes widened. Everything he could have ever wanted was right there, in front of him, ready for him to read, ready for him to uncover the past, the present, and maybe even parts of the future. He had everything he wanted.
Jacob: Alright...
Jacob took a deep breath, he knew Liam must have encoded the other files, or at least locked them. He knew he had to work with Liam before he had time alone.
Jacob: So.
Jacob paused and looked up at Liam.
Jacob: Where would you like to begin?
Liam smirked and pressed the file button, he then clicked a mostly empty passage, on the top it read:
GENESIS
Jacob chuckled as Liam began to talk.
Liam: Let's start here.
