Deeper in the facility, Spectral had activated one of the long dormant communications console and began to communicate with his second-in-command, Corellix Vyus, a Turian that had spent most of her life on Omega and knew much about the station's operating systems.

Spectral: "Vyus, what's your status?"

Vyus: "Sir, we have already broke through the first few encrypted layers. So far, Omega's primary operating system hasn't put up much of a fight. We've managed to gain control of basic functions over many of the secondary and auxiliary systems."

Spectral: "Are we combat ready?"

Vyus: "No. We haven't even begun tapping into the critical systems."

Spectral: "Get us there. Word is surely spreading and eventually unwanted visitors will be coming to us. The Citadel races may have been actively been staying out of the Terminus Systems, but I wouldn't put it past the Alliance and Cerberus to try and seize an opportunity. With enough shove, the Council may even get off their asses and come after us."

Vyus: "Yes Sir, combat systems will be our next goal. How are things down there?"

Spectral: "We've completed our first batch of test subjects, and needless to say, it doesn't seem as promising. The results have turned the Humans into husk-like creatures that appear to be both organic and synthetic."

Vyus: "It sounds like a good result, what's the hitch?"

Spectral: "We had no control over them. I've assigned our engineers to begin fabrication of an implant device to enable control."

Vyus: "Very good, Sir. I will inform you when we've completed our tasks. Vyus out."

The comm went dead and an Eclipse scientist approached Spectral.

Scientist: "Sir, we've been reviewing the test results and we may have found a solution to our control problem."

The scientist relinquished his datapad to Spectral and the Salarian leader began to review the results.

Scientist: "It seems that these husks also serve as individual communication relays. Each one outfitted to extend comm lines."

Spectral: "Interesting... so all we'd need to do is inject a code or program into the husk's neural activity and we should, in theory, have control over them. Begin work on developing this code. The sooner we get the results working, the sooner we can spare our own men."

Scientist: "Yes Sir."

The scientist walked off back to his work area with the husks and the test subjects, leaving Spectral to his lonesome. Spectral activated more of the systems and consoles in the base, including the external livefeeds. He quickly scanned each monitor and saw the Cerberus gang outside with the hacked YMIR mech. Spectral then activated the intercoms outside the bulkhead door.

Spectral: "So... the Quarian wants his precious device back, eh? As much as I'd like to turn it over, I'm not quite through with it yet. I still have many questions about it and I frankly don't trust you to let me continue observing it. No worries though, I won't let anything happen to it. As for the rest of you, I don't who you are or what you're doing with the Quarian, but let it be clear. This device that I discovered and took from the Migrant Fleet... it's something larger than all of us. I have found the path to salvation and you will not stop me from obtaining my goals. We were fools when this device was discovered. We believed it to be Prothean, but that's where we were wrong. There's something more terrifying and exhilarating about this device... it's Reaper tech. The true supreme Gods of the galaxy. The Reapers will return and they will elevate us to our next evolutionary step."
