Jacob felt uneasy about the situation he was in, but he, nonetheless, kept his cool. He had been under pressure like this before and he had been working out his answer to this question the entire ride over.
Jacob: To be totally honest, it is the reason these Spartans are.
Jacob paused.
Jacob: Time and time again I have expressed my concerns to the UNSC about these two and their total disregard for anyone else except themselves. Time and time again they betrayed me and yet, the UNSC still confides themselves that they are helping us. Let alone the massive casualty list they have inflicted.
Jacob paused again.
Jacob: You tried recruiting me when I was much younger, when my mind still hovered around the idea that the UNSC was in the right, and now, with everything that has happened. I can tell I was wrong, that my younger self was just that, young, stupid, naive.
Jacob looked around, and finally looked back at Spender.
Jacob: I no longer wish to serve the UNSC, because right now, it feels as if we are serving Nighthawk and Anaconda. The fact that your Spartan team here convinced me of that, is something I considered in my defection. And something I will most likely thank them for.
Jacob grabbed the datachip in his pocket and rolled it in his hands.
Jacob: This is the only copy, the original one I had taken from the facility. My superiors were too focused on Nighthawk and Anaconda to worry about the mission they had sent me on.
Jacob chuckled and held the chip in his hand.
Jacob: Another one of the many reasons why I chose to leave, but...
Jacob glared at Black 1.
Jacob: If you do not want it, I will simply hang onto it.
