Tyber: I was about to try and contact the Navy to see what I could get on their end. That is, I was about to do it...then you showed up.
Meanwhile:
ODST Black Team had finished gearing up, and had proceeded to meet with Yates in the hanger bay.
Yates: Five minutes exactly. Not bad.
Black 1: We aim to please.
Yates: So then, I trust you are ready to go?
Black 1: We are ready at your convenience.
Yates nodded. He then turned and began to walk towards a Pelican that was waiting.
Yates: Pelican Charlie 091 will be taking us to the Vigorous Inferno. Like I said before, we will wait there until Jacob arrives.
Black 2: You know...not to doubt how well you have this thought out...what what are we going to tell Harrison? Do we just stroll in there, and wait...and ignore him when he starts to ask questions.
Yates: Quite the opposite. I plan on informing Admiral Harrison that we are among some of the qualified candidates that Jacob could report to. Once he puts the information in my hands...we simply walk away, and salute. We do the diplomatic thing...and all ends well.
Black 1: if he didn't give the intel to Kolya...why would he give it to you?
Yates: If Jacob refuses to give the intel to me...then you will kill Jacob...on the spot, and we will take it. Harrison can send his complaints up the chain of command all he wants. In the end, he will simply be told that the security of ONI's operations are paramount to his personal feelings.
Yates and Black Team stepped onto the Pelican. The rear hatch closed, and the Pelican prepared for departure. After a moment, the Pelican had lifted off, departed the Ulterior Motive, and was en-route to the Vigorous Inferno.
Black 3: Well...what if Jacob doesn't return to the ship? What then?
Yates: Then Kolya, who is planetside at this time, will find Jacob and kill him. We have the bases covered. If Jacob finds something we missed, I assure you, we are ready to move forward as many pieces on this chess board as necessary to induce a checkmate. Take it from me...Jacob may have a lengthy record of distinguishing himself...but The Trust has been outsmarting people since before his great great great great grandparents had hit puberty...possibly even before that. I don't know the exact details of how long people live in that family...but it is a pretty good picture of how long we have been doing this. If there is one thing the Trust can do...it is outsmart people.
Yates shrugged.
Yates: We've got this.
Yates laughed. He was going to speak again, but he stopped himself when he heard the pilot speaking.
Trust Pilot: SIr...we are on approach to the Vigorous Inferno. Do you want tyo make the greeting...or shall I?
Yates: Take care of it. Transmit our ONI Security codes, and request priority docking.
Trust Pilot: Aye sir.
The Pilot began to transmit Yates' ONI Security clearance to the Vigourous Inferno. After the transmission of the security codes, a docking permission was requested.
