Nighthawk and Anaconda kept moving. They were in a full dash, as every second counter.
Anaconda: What do you have in mind? What are you planning?
Nighthawk: I will explain when we get there.
The duo kept running down the corridor, but they stopped when they reached a door that had the words ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL written above it.
Anaconda was confused as to what possible value this room could be. However, he remained silent, as he followed Nighthawk into this room. The room was rather large. There were computer consoles all over the room. This was the main part of the building that regulated the internal temperature, humidity, and other climate controls for the entire building.
Nighthawk: Seal the door behind us. Lock it...but do not weld it shut like we did with the Infirmary.
Anaconda pressed a button on a wall mounted control panel. The door closed, and locked.
Anaconda: I want you to explain this to me!
Nighthawk: SImple my good man. I am going to turn this entire building into a giant Sauna.
Anaconda was confused. He had no idea what a Sauna was.
Anaconda: What?
Nighthawk approached the central computer in the room. He began to type away with his left hand, while his right hand held his Magnum.
Nighthawk: A Sauna is a bath house. They are used to experience extreme...and I mean VERY extreme hot climates, with either a humid or dry atmosphere. I am going to turn the entire Sub-Basement into one of these things.
Anaconda: Why?
Nighthawk: To escape from those Spartans. Think about it, Big Guy...if we run, they will chase us, tired us out, and fight us. If we stop and fight, they will fight us. If you try to use active camo to get away, they will utilize thermal heat imaging to find you, and fight you.
Anaconda: What is your point?
Nighthawk: The point is...no matter what we do, they will counter it, and meet us head on. We need to take away their ability to counter our every move!
Anaconda: And how is turning the ENTIRE Sub-Basement into what sounds like my home world going to help us do that?
Nighthawk: I am going to take away their ability to use their thermal heat imaging on their visors. If I crank up the boiler temperatures beyond maximum levels, open every humidifier in this building, and crank the heat up to max. If I am right...the humidity in this building will skyrocket to a point where the thermal imaging will literally be flooded in the red by the humidity in the air. In fact, I am faiily confident that even the shimer of your active camo will be obscured by the refraction of light caused by the massive amounts of humidity and water in the air.
Anaconda: I think I know what you are talking about. There are times I can remember looking at distance landscapes on rather humid days, on Doisac. It would always seem like images in the distance were...distorted. Is that what you are trying to recreate?
Nighthawk: Yeah, exactly. However...the most important thing will be the rapid increase in temperature which would render their thermal imaging totally useless. It would allow us to simply bolt out of here using active camo.
Nighthawk paused.
Nighthawk: Now...here is the plan. I am going to wait here. You engage your active camo. The moment they break in here, and see only me...their first reaction will be to engage their thermal imaging. The moment they do, their entire spectrum will be red. They will be unable to distinguish our body heat, from the air around us. That will give us a brief moment to strike. I want you to hit them with everything you have. Get pissed. Get mad. Get really fuckingangry...and just mess these bastards up! After we get the drop on threm, and put their asses on the ground...we bolt. We get the hell out of here. We run, and we don't look back.
Anaconda: Good plan. Very good plan. I don't like the running part...but...I can understand why it is being done. We need more intel on these guys before we make our next move.
Nighthawk: That...and we need to reload. I am running short on Ammo, and I am sure your Gravity Hammer is running low.
Just as Nighthawk said this, the console began to beep. He had just finished what he was doing. Nighthawk could hear the vents and humidifiers in the building turning on, and spinning up. His HUD was already registering a change in local air temperature and in the humidity index. Both of these values were climbing fast.
Nighthawk: Alright. It is on now. These bastards are about to find out what happens when you back a brilliant scientist into a corner!
Anaconda: I was expecting something totally different...but...I guess it works.
Anaconda engaged his active camo, and took up position. He situated himself so he would have optimum positioning to attack.
Meanwhile:
The rest of Black Team saw Dangerus grab Black 3, and pull him down from the vent. Black Team responded right away, and they all jumped down, and aimed their weapons at Dangerus. Black 1 had re-armed himself with an Assault Rifle, while Black 4 had helped himself to a Shotgun. Black 2 still had his original Shotgun, and he had it aimed at Dangerus as well.
Black 1, Black 2, and Black 4 all aimed at Dangerus, ready to fire.
Black 1: Alright King Kong...why don't you do youself a really big favor and put Black 3 down. If you do...I promise...there will be a whole...bunch of...
Black 1 shook his head.
Black 1: Fuck it. I was going to make some racial and stereotypical insult about bananas...but I would rather just put bullets into your carcas and make a carpet out of you...or a bath robe...whatever is easier.
Black Team was about to fire. However, Black 1 had the gun shot rright from his hands when the shot of an Automag rang out.
Tyber: Not so fast bossman. I do not condone the skinning and exploitation of non-humans...
Cameron had Black 4 covered.
Jennifer had her M6G magnum pointed at Black 2, but she had to speak up.
Jennifer: Tye...you have the head of a wolf mounted on the wall above your desk, you have the head of a deer above your mantel, you even used your military clearance to smuggle the taxidermy remains of an endangered White Feathered Moa onto The King Raven to "decorate the Officer's Lounge". There is only like...700 of those things left on...you know what planet I am talking about.
Tyber: Well...to be fair...there are only 699 White Feathered Moa now. Still, that was the best 10 grand I ever spent. We even put a Fedora on its head for laughs. That thing is so bitchin'.
Tye paused. He continued to stare at Black 1.
Black 1 chimed in.
Black 1: Are you done? Can we get this over and done with?
Tye thought for a moment, and nodded.
Tyber: I would think you would want a few more seconds of life. However...if it's an execution you are looking for, I will be happy to oblige.
Tye took aim at Black 1. However, as he did, Black 1, in a very fast, and swift movement, pulled out a throwing knife, evaded out of Tye's sights, and tossed the knife right at Tye, impacting him right in the right arm. The blade went right through Tye's armor, and pierced his skin.
Tye groaned in pain, as he stumbled back. This broke the attention of Jennifer, who looked over to Tye. This gave Black 2 the chance to turn his sights on Cameron, and fire.
