The Spartan simply gave a polite nod back.
Spartan: Nighthawk and Anaconda...
The Spartan paused and let go of the DMR with his right hand, bringing it up to his helmet. He clenched his fists and the other six Spartans ran over to his location, lining up behind him.
Spartan: Where are they now? What are they doing, sir?
Meanwhile:
Harrison nodded to Burke.
Harrison: Do so immediately Commander. I want them armored up and ready to move with my other fire teams when I give the signal.
Harrison looked at Reynolds.
Harrison: You will do the same. Send any troopers you have to be immediately.
Harrison returned his attention to the hologram of fleet movement and fleet repair status.
Harrison: In the meantime, I will get the rest of the fleet up to par...move us around in a defensive order and get communications going with our men on the ground. Within ten minutes, I will contact you all again and begin our operation. Comms first, reinforcements second. Once we have the men on the ground secure, we'll figure out how we can turn this fight around for us.
Harrison looked up.
Harrison: If there are no further questions, you are dismissed.
Concurrently:
Jacob was helping a fellow marine onto one of the warthogs, the marines leg had been burned badly and his armor torn. Jacob hefted him into the passenger seat and gave him a battle rifle. Being the least injured in the vehicle, besides the driver, he had to protect the others.
Jacob: Head shots only, son...
The marine groaned a bit, shifted in the seat and then nodded as Jacob turned to help others. He had been monitoring the comm chatter on the ground for the last fifteen minutes. He knew the covenant had breached the outer atrium, he knew they were landing on the roof, and now he knew the brutes were now pouring into the area. Jacob sighed, he should be up there, fighting with the others, but he knew he had a job down here, too.
Even if it wasn't helping the marines or organizing them, maybe seeing a Captain on the field, still leading with the others, was enough to give the wounded, and the rookies, a morale boost.
A few floors above:
Troy fired off his assault rifle at any brutes or elites getting too close, keeping them contained and in cover. Next to him, Colby was taking his time, taking out jackals or exposed elites and brutes with head shots.
Down to their right and a little bit up the hallway was Carmicle and Limos. Limos was laying down fire with his SMG, trying to push the elites near him out into the hallway and into the cross fire. Carmicle had run dry in his clip and was behind cover reloading.
That's when a plasma grenade landed near his feet.
Carmicle: Grenade!
Carmicle yelled and pushed Limos out of cover and out of the range of the grenade. Carmicle followed him, jumping out of cover, but the plasma blast pushed him a greater distance, slamming his body against the wall.
Troy: Soldiers down! Covering fire!
Troy, Colby, and the other marines all popped out of cover and fired everything they had to give Limos enough time to move.
With every muscle he had, Limos dashed across the floor and grabbed Carmicle by the back of his armor, dragging him back towards the rest of the UNSC forces. Limos dragged as fast as he could, fighting through the constant noise of plasma and bullets flying by his ear.
That's when he felt a sharp pain shoot up his leg and he collapsed to the ground. The last thing he saw was Troy and Colby running towards him. Then...it all went black.
