The pelican carrying Suicide Squad and Jacob was en route to White River. Jacob went to the cockpit and spoke to the pilot.

Jacob: Ready for a hot drop, CPO?

CPO: Roger, Captain. I'm dropping you on the roof of the Bentz and then flying out.

Jacob nodded.

Jacob; Excellent...keep on call, I may need you MacLaren.

MacLaren: Yessir.

With that, Jacob left the cockpit and headed to the end of the bay. He turned to Suicide Squad.

Jacob: Gentlemen, lady. CPO MacLaren is dropping you back off at the Inferno. You did a hell of a job...take a breather.

Meanwhile:

Omega Legion was moving towards the Bentz Hotel, forming up with other squadrons and moving as fast as they could. From what they could hear the Covenant was slowing down assaults on multiple areas. They must have been massing units for one giant push.

Many of the marines already knew they wouldn't be able to fight them all...they would have to hold the line until the last man. And everyone accepted it. White River was the biggest city on San Angeles, and many marines had family in the city. They would die to give the civilians enough time to evacuate, even if it cost them their own lives.

Concurrently far above the planet of San Angeles:

Dangerus stood atop his bridge. For every minute that passed, elites were being killed on San Angeles, a thought he didn't mind, but humans were also being sparred. A thought he needed to eliminate. Dangerus was unsure of how to proceed, he would be unable to unload troops with the minefield and he could not just sit and wait.

He would have to act, risking the lives of his troops and his fleet.

Dangerus pondered the possibilities, he could lead a corvette or two into the nuclear field and activate it, giving his fleet a straight shot at the human navy...but whose to say that plan would work?

The humans could in fact let the corvettes through and then annihilate them as soon as they were clear of the nukes, thus leaving Dangerus two ships short and wasting lives for no reason.
