I was doing a bit of thinking today, and I imagined what would happen if we were forced to evacuate The Earth. Imagine the following scenario.
In the not-to-distant future, an extinction level event is about to befall The Earth. The only viable solution is to evacuate The Earth and colonize either Mars or The Moon. However, the amount of space available is very limited, and it is impossible to save every man, woman, and child on Earth. The domestic animal supply does not count, as it is very easy to breed cattle in laboratories on our new settlement. According to world Governments, there is only enough room for 250 000 people to move to another planet. The question is...who would be left behind? All these decisions are left up to you, and you alone. There will be no debate, and no discussion. Your word is the final word.
I would like to know who you guys would leave behind, and I would like you to justify your choices. Remember...the future of the Human race is at stake. Take only what you need to survive.
Please specify the following information in your preface:
- Does deny take priority over allow or does allow take priority over deny. This means, that if you have a candidate with a character trait or ability that qualifies them for saving, but a problem or trait that disqualifies them from saving, do you place more emphasis on the good or the bad?
- What area of society will you place priority on? Do you want to save technology and innovators, or save movie actors and activists? Is Hollywood more important than Silicone Valley?
- Do you want to save ancient knowledge and secrets of mankind, or save trade secrets for easier construction of technology. Do you care about human history, or value basic survival information. Do you want to save medical knowledge to extend human life, or save food production secrets. You can pick up to three things. You can pick nothing if you want.
- Do you wish to save an equal distribution of races, religions, and ethnicity, or do you take the best and the brightest, ignoring everything else?
- Do you place priority on the highly educated to rapidly advance your new colony, or bring more uneducated people in order to create a servitude society for the few elites? You can even decide to bring 250 000 idiots and watch the human race burn out. Do you evenly distribute it.
- Do you set aside a spot for yourself as passenger number 1, or do you place yourself into the same criteria as everyone else?
- Do you take more males or females? What is the percentage ratio. The more women you have, the faster the population grows, but with fewer men, productivity goes down as men are far more physically capable than women.
[DIVIDE][/DIVIDE]
So here is what I am placing priority on in my preface:
- Deny takes priority over allow
- Priority will be placed on saving technology, food production, and medical knowledge.
- I choose to save the best and brightest, and ignore race and religion. Saving cultures is not important.
- Priority will be placed on the highly educated.
- I will set a spot aside for myself.
- 50% men and 50% women
Here is who I would leave behind, and my justifications for my choices.:
- Homosexuals. These people have would be very unwilling to contribute to the re-population of the human race. Unfortunately, we need people who are ready and willing to match up the socket to the plug.
- Drug addicts. These people are human filth. Period. They bring nothing to the advancement of society. They will siphon resources for their own addictions. People with drug and alcohol addictions, such as smoking, booze, and other hard and soft drugs fall into this category. There will be no room for drugs in my society. In fact, in order to ensure the purity and health of the human race, drugs and alcohol would be illegal.
- The Elderly. This includes people over 50. These people require too much medical care and too much time. They are not physically capable enough and they are basically sterile.
- The handicapped and people with a genetic predisposition to producing people with mental and physical handicaps. This is just a drain on resources. The Space shuttle and the colony is not wheel chair accessible.
- Criminals. This includes the mentally insane and anyone with a serious criminal offense such as theft or murder. Let these people die. They will only bring chaos. They cannot be trusted to live in our new society.
- The homeless. These people, much like drug addicts, cannot provide any useful service to humanity. They are typically in poor health and would be a burden.
- Movie Actors. Fuck these people, I hate them. They are annoying and they are often stupid. Snookie can drop dead.
- The physically unfit. This includes the morbidly obese, and the anorexic, and people who are below minimum average physical fitness. The human race needs to be fit in order to survive.
- Sex workers. These people are walking diseases that corrupt society. They will be left behind.
- The greedy and selfish. There will be no room for people who ive to take from others. These people will be left behind because they threaten the well being of our colony.
Now, here is a list of people I would save, in this order of priority. Please place a percentage of your population that will be made up of each category. People in this category are people who are accepted, and do not fall into any categories above:
- Doctors and Specialists: 5% Medical care is essential for a large population.
- Research scientists: 20%. We will need people to advance our colony with new innovations. This 20% includes all fields of research, such as technology, medical research, and teachers.
- Police and law enforcement: 10%. There needs to be rule of law and people keeping the peace.
- Engineers and technicians: 25%. We will need lots of people to maintain and construct our colony and the technology that runs it.
- Architects: 5%. We will need people to design and expand our colony.
- Religious groups and charity: 5%. We need a few people who will work to help others, free of charge. People who will sponsor cooperation, and give people hope for continued survival.
- Survivalists: 10%. This includes people who are used to surviving in harsh conditions and areas. They will help people adapt and survive with limited resources. Typically, these people are intelligent and forward thinking, as well as fit and durable.
- Chefs and Cooks: 5%. We need people to cook and prepare food with expertise and efficiency using limited resources.
- Farmers: 10%. People who know how to produce food will be very helpful in feeding the colony.
- The physically fit: 5%. These people will just be handy to have around to have kids and provide labor where it is needed.
There we go...that is my list. This is how I would preserve humanity.
