But on its maiden voyage she experienced severe problems. History On her maiden voyage her Slipstream Drive and her fusion drives failed catostrophically. It killed 150 crew members, but Commander Tylan earned the respect of all his crewman when he himself used a plasma torch and opened up the Hangar bay and saved his pilot Sergenat Baylor, but also 45 others. Her airlocks all around the Hangar bay sealed shut. She was adrift for more than 3 weeks, surviving on ONI MREs. The Second Chance's built-in AI died due to she sacrificed herself to ensure the Life Support survived. The Second Chance was found and repaired. While on a routine patrol, she encountered the Ulterior Motive, a very dangerous situation for the Second Chance. After the encounter the Second Chance was swept for Trust Agents and one was found Captain Carlos, he blew himself up when a Marine 1F Guard opened the door, before he was interrogated by Rkla, and Cameron. There were no other Agents on board, but the possibility of Trust was extremey real.  The second chance a month later was on a mission to find any Trust activity when the Second chance saw a destroyed ONI medical ship. The crew rescued thwm and followed the Trust ahip. Only a few hours later they saw the ship attack another medical ship. Tylan orders the Second Chance to open fire on the phoenix class. After a few seconds the Medical ship escapes and the Trust ahip named Nightingale disables the Second Chance. Over 380 lives where lost. Trivia The ONI Destroyer Second Chance is one of the few that actually has a hangar bay. UNSC Destroyers do not have hangar bays. The ONI Destroyer Second Chance has more armor plating than usual. The ONI standard is 131mm of Grade A Plating, the Second Chance has 190mm of Armor Plating.
