M9 High-Explosive Grenade - ONI Variant Base Weapon: M9 High-Explosive Grenade Clip Size: N/A Concussive Force: Medium Dispersive: Fragmentation Shrapnel Effective Range: 11 ft to 36 ft Rate of Fire: N/A M9 High-Explosive Grenade - ONI Variant The M9 High-Explosive Grenade - ONI Variant is the standard anti-infantry and anti-vehicle ordinance in the ONI armory. Commonly known as the Frag Grenade, it has an effective range of about 11 to 36 feet. The explosive yield of this grenade falls between the grenade launcher and the missile pod, the latter being more powerful. It is activated by a small switch on the top. Once activated, the grenade has a 3 second fuse before exploding. It is very light and easy to carry. The grenade has a hard metal casing, with a frangible design meant to break apart into small, regular shards. This surface creates consistent, reliable fragmentation patterns for the grenade, rather than randomly rupturing along metallurgical faults. The grid-shaped casing houses a charge of high-explosive fitted with a mechanical primer. When the charge detonates, it shatters the grenade's casing, sending shrapnel flying away at high velocity.
