Blackbird Warthog - ONI Variant
The Blackbird Warthog - ONI Variant is a specially modified assault ground vehicle in the ONI Fleet. An upgrade to the standard LRV ONI Variant Warthogs, the Blackbird Warthog - ONI Variant sport similar equipment to the ONI Variants but as opposed to being a wheel based vehicle, it is the first human constructed vehicle to use anti-gravity systems as a form of propulsion.
The Hull of the Blackbird Warthog - ONI Variant is composed of multi-layered reinforced titanium alloy, supplemented with a heat dispersing outer coating to reduce plasma damage. The windows are composed of a damage resistant transparent metal that is highly resilliant to cracking or shattering. The Blackbird Warthog - ONI Variant is capable of hauling equipment but not as a primary function and nothing beyond 10 tonnes. It is not advised to be hauling equipment during a combat situation as the combat effectiveness of the vehicle is savagely curtailed.
The weapon systems on the Blackbird Warthog - ONI Variant have not been improved or modified as there is very little to upgrade on. The Blackbird series is simply an upgrade to the base vehicle, and can sport the same turrets as the standard LRV Warthogs.
The Anti-gravity systems on the Blackbird Warthog is very impressive. Blackbird Warthogs have incredibly powerful anti-gravity systems. The systems are so powerful, that the vehicle can be hot-dropped from a Pelican from 100 feet and survive the fall and be fully ready for combat without any harm to the passengers. This is so only because the anti-gravity systems are suplemented with under carriage thrusters which allow the vehicle to automatically slow itself down in a rapid freefall descent.
The Blackbird Warthog is capable of speeds up to 175 with the assistance of the boost technology. THis speed proves very unsafe and should only be attained in an open field in straight directions. Turning left or right, or attempting hard point terns is not advisable.
The Blackbird Warthogs can also hover over water, a feat that exceeds Ghosts, Wraiths, or Choopers in design. The vehicle can traverse shallow or deep water equally as well as it can traverse solid ground.
The control systems on the Blackbird have been altered. Blackbird Warthogs do not use steering wheels. Instead, two joystick control colums are implanted in the dashboard and used to control the thrust and direction of the vehicle. THis method can prove quite challenging for new-comers to the vehicle but it provides superior vehicle control.
