Warhawk Game Review

Warhawk is a online only third person shooter for the Playstation 3. Online only games may sound boring to some people but Warhawk isn't like that. It uses a great online system to connect you to a match and get you playing in no time!

Part 1: The Story

Well..... Warhawk was going to have what looked like a great storyline, but the developers weren't happy with it so they dropped it.

0/10

Part 2: The Characters

Well... since the game has no storyline it doesn't really have any characters. But the character models for online play are great. They vary in appearance from head to toe and can be customized as you rank up. However once you get to a higher rank the parts actually repeat themselves with parts that you can colour.

5/10

Part 3: The Maps

Warhawk has a wide variety of map to play from. They range from vast 32 player maps to small maps meant for around 2 - 4 people. They have in total 8 maps with the DLC and around 9 submaps for each. They also range in climate from the vast Vaporfield Glacier to the barren Badlands. The maps support games of all sizes.

Part 4: Finding and Hosting Games

When you login to Warhawk and select join game. It brings up a server list. You can set it to show every server or only ones with settings that you want. The other thing is that you can set it so that you can play with people all over the world!
If you want to create a server it will first check your bandwidth, then assign you a max players number. You can decrease that for smaller games but can't increase it past your assigned limit to help stop lag. You can set which maps you want, if you want team killing then you can set that too. The only things you can't edit are the maps themselves.

Part 5: Weaponry

This is where Warhawk falls short. It only has 12 weapons total.

Pistol

This is your default weapon. It has 20 shots loaded and infinite ammo. That doesnt't matter however because it deals very low damage and is semi-automatic.

Assault Rifle

The assault rifle comes with lots of ammo and decent damage and rate of fire. It's a very common find. If you're using the assault rifle you will probably die before running out of ammo. It comes with 40 shots in a clip and 160 shots in reserve. However you can hold up to 280 in reserve.

Sniper Rifle

Probably the hardest weapon to use in Warhawk. The sniper rifle comes with 7 shots and you can hold up to 14. It is an instant kill if it hits you at all, but it's very difficult to use. It has 2 zoom settings on the scope and deals considerable damage to vehicles. Around 3 or 4 shots will take out a jeep. Around 4 to take out a Warhawk and around 14 to take out a dropship. People do use the sniper for no-scoping but i don't recommend it unless you are really good at it.

Rocket Launcher

This is one of the more powerful weapons in Warhawk. It comes with 6 rockets and you can only hold that many. If you hit a person straight on then it's an instant kill. Holding down the firing button will make it lock on to tanks, warhawks, dropships or people flying jetpacks. 2 rockets will take down a warhawk. 4 to take down a tank. Many to take down a dropship and 1 to take down a jetpack.

Flamethrower

The flamethrower will devastate enemies at close range. Infantry and vehicles alike. It comes with an ammo count of 60 and can hold 120. If some comes at you with this, run fast.

Landmines

The landmines are devastating. They deal extreme amounts of damage and destroy pretty much anything that passes over them. They instantly kill infantry, jeeps, Warhawks and turrets. 2 Mines will take out a Tank and 3 will take out an APC. they come in packs of 4 which is conveniently the max you can hold.

Bio-Field Generator

This is the way to heal yourself and your team-mates on the go. Once deployed it releases a cloud of mist. That mist heals players on your team and hurts players on the other team. They can be killed by grenades quite easily and is a great way to take people down. These come in packs of 2 which is the max you can hold.

Combat Knife

The combat knife is a great weapon and a horrible weapon at the same time. If you sneak up on someone with it then you have an instant kill. But if you run straight at them then they'll probably kill you before you get close enough to kill them.

Wrench

This is exactly the same as the combat knife except for the fact that it can heal and hurt vehicles. If you swing it a an unoccupied or friendly vehicle it will repair it for you. But if you swing it at an enemy vehicle then it'll take health away from it. It comes with 400 ammo when you pick it up. Healing vehicles reduces that. Hurting them replenishes it.

Grenades

These have the same explosive power as the rocket launcher. However they are much more common and harder to use. They will explodes a few seconds after they're thrown or if they impact an enemy.

Binoculars

These are the most powerful weapon in the game. They can call in an airstrike which is an instant kill to anything. However to call in that airstrike you have to stand still and target the same place for 3 seconds. A green line comes out of them and hits the target making you very easy to track. They come with 2 strikes but you can have up to 3 at once. They have incredibly long respawn and reload times.

That's all of the weapons. As you see, they're pretty varied but you will have limited options.

6/10

Part 6: The vehicles

Warhawk has many vehicles. They range from the weak jeep to the almost indestructible dropship.

The Jeep

The jeep can travel at a fast speed along the ground. It holds 3 people. The driver, the gunner and the passenger. The driver is self explanatory. The gunner uses a .50 cal turret mounted on the back of the jeep. The passenger does nothing.

The Tank

The tank travels at a medium speed along the ground. It holds 2 people. The driver/gunner and a passenger. The driver controls the tank and the main cannon. If they passenger so wishes they can pop out of the hatch on the top of the tank. This will allow them to shoot any weapon they have on them. An effective combo is wrench/bio-field/rockets.

The APC

The APC travels faster than the tank but slower then the Jeep. It can hold up to 7 people. A driver and 6 passengers with their own hatches. The APC is special because it can deploy E-POD shields. They shields allow people to shoot out. But not in. Any enemy aircraft that come into contact with the shield are instantly destroyed. The shield dissipates after about 40 seconds or if someone kills the generator. The driver can also redirect the shield to the front of the APC. If they do that then the APC will boost and destroy anything that it hits except tanks.

The Warhawk/Nemesis

The Warhawk and Nemesis are both identical in function but not in appearance. When you enter one it will start hovering above the ground. You can change to flight mode to travel faster but then the Warhawk acts as a normal plane. The Warhawk can pick up new weapons but i won't go into explaining all of those.

The Dropship

The dropship is almost unstoppable if it's fully loaded. It has a pilot and 6 gunners who each get a swarm missile turret. The pilot can change from hover mode to attack mode. In attack mode the dropship will move at slower speeds but now has 3 machine guns on either side controlled by the pilot. It can also pick up land vehicles and drop them off somewhere else.

7/10

I think that Warhawk is a great game to play. Some people may not like it but you can fool around in it alot. Some examples are Jeep Racing, Knife fights and Jetpack Knife fights. It's a great game and i encourage people to try it.

Final Score: 6.5/10
